It's not a soft buzz like you might hear from a touch-up clipper, but a whirring like you'd expect from a full-head crew-cut type of clippers. Not sure if that helps.

Can the 5-in-1 blade that comes with this clipper (Wahl Arco) be used with the stainless steel guide combs?

Wahl’s 5-in-1 adjustable blades are compatible with the Wahl Professional Stainless Steel Attachment Guide Combs for 5-in-1 blades. For best performance, we recommend adjusting your blade to the #30 setting before attaching your guide comb for use.

Will this cut through poodle hair?

I trim poodles and these are the clippers I use. I have found these are much quieter than most clippers. These are the only clippers I can use on my dogs face.

I have had these clippers about 2.5 years and am on Chewy shopping for new ones already. They were lightly used (once about every 6-8 weeks) on a 35 lb. Labradoodle. The batteries started to give me trouble about a year ago and now they do not charge/hold a charge consistently. Doing a deeper dive into this issue, I see it is a common problem and DO NOT recommend these clippers. They are way too expensive to have this issue. This week I got halfway through grooming my pup and no matter what I do, they won't turn on. We did some troubleshooting using a YouTube video to no avail. The above aside, I was pleased with this products performance. They did a good job grooming our guy with a very thick coat, didn't get hot and were nice and quiet.

I noticed a lot of reviewers had issues with the battery sputtering/not staying charged. I had the same issue and discovered 2 things: usually the blades needed to be oiled or there was too much hair stuck inside the blade, or both. Now I clean and oil mine before each use and that solves it.

But after trying to charge both batteries they still do not work. I am not sure what I did wrong. But it was a large investment for the use I actually got out of them.
