What is the malt extract derived from?

Since Whimzees contain malt extract and malt is a grain, the assumption would be that they are not gluten/grain free. However the company’s website states the following: **If you include malt as a key ingredient, doesn’t it contain gluten?** Answer: While malt can contain gluten, WHIMZEES® are crafted with a special malt extract with a limited amount of gluten. This is achieved as we produce in accordance with human grade standards, enforce strict supplier selection of ingredients and limit overall the amount of malt extract in our treats. We are proud to say our WHIMZEES® dog products fall below the level determined for human regulation as gluten-free. So I think we can conclude Whimzees contain trace amounts of gluten in quantities that are still small enough to enable the company to list the product as gluten-free according to US regulations.

WHIMZEES ingredients are sourced from the United States, and various parts of Europe (Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands etc.).

WHIMZEES are manufactured in Holland.

What size is the medium? I purchased the large to try. My dogs love them but the large was huge! 65lb Greyhounds, don't have a strong bite. I'm thinking about getting the medium but don't want too small...

The Small size (approximately 3.5 inches long) is recommended for dogs 10-25 pounds, the Medium size (approximately 4.3 inches long) is recommended for dogs 25-40 pounds and the Large size (approximately 5.9 inches long) is recommended for dogs 40-60 pounds.

Dog loves them, and they appear to help clean her teeth. The only issue is despite now being packaged inside a plastic bag in the box the treats are dry and hard. To avoid potentially causing a cracked tooth, the remedy is to microwave the treat for 6 to 11 seconds on power of 3. It will still be firm, but not tooth cracking hazard.

The quality matched what I was buying one at a time locally so I decided to buy another box (smaller ones) for my smaller dog. Both love these when they get them. It's great to have a WHOLE BOX accessible at home for super treats.
