Tried multiple brands even the most expensive with Vibram soles these were the best because the soles allow the dog to "feel" the ground. We haven't needed them yet but have put them on in the house for pup to acclimate to wearing when needed outside. Unlike the other brands with thicker soles pup didn't go nuts trying to get these off. Barkbrites with the neoprene soles seemed sturdier and offered the same foot feel but their smallest size was too big for my girl. I hope when used these will last but I'm not too optimistic as they seem flimsy - time and use will tell.
When we first put the booties on Cas at home he pranced like a Clydesdale Horse! After a little bit of time he was chasing his toys around like normal. We took him to the beach which is why we bought the booties, he walked fine on the hot pavement, great in the sand and went right into the water with us. Everyone was asking about them. They are very comfortable which is because of the adjustable straps and he felt no heat from the pavement/sand and no issues with the shells and small rocks in the water.
My dog has never worn booties before but vet recommended because she gets sore spots on her paw pads from walking on concrete (even when not hot). She adjusted very easily to these. I do like that they go up higher on the legs which I think does help keep them on. She has only worn them for a couple of weeks and the bottom soles do seem to be wearing small holes near the front seams but hopefully they will last a few months. Chewy did not provide a clear explanation of how to determine size so I had to go on manufacturer website for that. While on Canada Pooch website I did see that they are also made in pink. Hope Chewy will expand their selection to add this color. (Although the blue does match her eyes!)
Just received and the product looks like just what I want EXCEPT...the sizing. There is a sizing table in the product description but doesn't show a diagram of where to measure the paw. I looked at a few other booties and they all measured in the same place so did the same for these. WRONG! Ordered way too big a size. I will try it out and see but I think he will trip on them. There is a measuring diagram included on the product tag but I didn't have that until the product arrive to me. Back to the bootie construction. It is soft, lightweight, looks like it will drain very well (ocean walks!) and protect the pads from hot sand/pavement. The velcro wraps around securely and the draw string is a good addition. I would speculate it is not for long term use because of its light construction but I would think it would last for 'city' walking for some time. We tend to hike and are covering ground with sharp edges and granite so not sure of its longevity but would think a summer season. Probably a good product should the sizing diagram be placed on the website so we can order accurately.
Very happy with these, they are easy to take on and off and stay on quite securely once they are put on properly. My dog will "wipe her feet" after going potty and they still don't come loose. I'm using them in PHX and they are great for protecting my dogs feet from the pavement and hot grass. Only feedback I have is that I wish they had more color selections, these are absurdly bright colored and the only alternative is bright pink.
These are great for Texas heat. I know it says pavement but I put them on my girl due to the hot, dry grasses. The sizing is all wrong but other than that they are fantastic!
These boots fit our dog perfectly and he seems to enjoy wearing them. They are durable and protect his feet from the high temps we get on pavement and sand. They also keep thorns and stickers from getting into his paws, all while keeping his feet cool and looking good too!
The longer leg on this bootie was cumbersome, just an additional two inches I had to push their paw thru. They are nicely made and they worked. but need to mention that living in AZ my Boys are 100% use to wearing boots in the summer, no longer prance like show ponies
My dog had a run-in with some glass on the sidewalk so I've been looking for boots that she can wear when walking around the neighborhood. These looked lightweight and breathable so I was excited to try them. Unfortunately they wouldn't stay put no matter how I adjusted them and kept twisting on her feet. About 20 minutes into our walk and after multiple adjustments I noticed her limping. When I took the boots off I saw the bottom of her foot pad was all chafed. Luckily I had brought backup boots that I could switch to so we could walk home (she's too heavy to carry that far). Needless to say I'm disappointed because these were pricey! I think they're too dirty to return.
We live in a downtown/city center environment and we are constantly dodging broken glass, icemelt salt, etc. I started our little Coco Bean with booties this past winter and had the best results with Canada Pooch because they slip on like a sock and then you sinch them from there. They go up higher than other booties and stay on. When spring rolled around I wanted lighter booties so took the plunge with these. Absolute winners. She's a Bichon, so these help keep her paws clean (greatly reducing the need for paw washing), still keep her paws safe from broken glass on the sidewalks, and will help when the pavement gets hot. I am amazed at how many people do not think to use these. Your puppy will also garner additional oohs and ahhhs because they are even more adorable in these puppy kicks. An absolute home run!
