With a name like "torrential" I expected it to be more waterproof or at least more water resistent; intial sizing was WAY too small; couldn't fit my dog's second leg into leg hole. Called Canada Pooch customer service and they weren't too helpful. Won't be back.
I used this jacket for the first time today. It was lightly sprinkling outside. The jacket was so heavy after our walk and wet all on the inside. You can see in the picture the middle part is the only dry part. Very disappointing.
Like most people found, hood doesnt fit but i didnt really expect anything to fit on this noggin. It is a little tight to get him in to. I measured him twice and according to the canada pooch website it said his measurements would have been on the looser side. I should have known when it said it was corgi size. It does fit, just snug but it does its job!
The Canada Pooch raincoat is very well made, with sturdy fabrics and good stitching, and a nice cut to it. I especially love the full coverage underbelly - a must for dogs so small that even freshly mowed grass is tall enough to reach their bellies! I noticed a lot of the comments mention the hood not fitting their dog, and I wonder if those folks hadn't realized that the hood has a little snap that can be used to secure it folded back and mine came snapped up, so you would have to unsnap it to extend it the full length forward. Unfortunately, the coat is surprisingly ineffective against rain. I took my dog out during a light morning drizzle and she was nice and dry underneath when we got home. I hung the coat up to dry, but a couple of hours later when we were getting ready for our morning walk, I picked it up and was surprised to find the inner cotton layer uniformly damp. It was only a little damp and I figured it was still better than nothing, so put it back on her to go out in the afternoon rain, which had gotten a bit heavier (but wasn't a full-on storm or anything). We were out in the rain for about 25 minutes, and when we got home I found that the jacket had soaked up so much of the falling rain that it felt a good full pound heavier than it was when it was dry (which is not nothing for a 10-lb dog) and the inner cotton layer was completely soaked! We'll keep the coat because it really is well-made and fits her really well, and it'll be good for windy days and drizzly weather, but we'll have to look for something else to keep her dry when it really starts coming down.
I like the raincoat, has some weight to it. And the lining is very nice. The hood however, doesn't fit correctly. I think thats very common. I purchased a hat that matched, but that didn't fit, and honestly, having the ears cut out, for some dogs might work, but didn't help with the fit. Overall, I am happy with the raincost
The cover doesn’t fasten to the bin, but the door works and it gets the job done
The door flips up to leave the entrance open and the cover attaches easily
I bought this for my Bichpoo in a size just slightly too small. As others have mentioned the hood didn't fit over his head. Chewy sent me the next larger size and it fits perfectly. And yes, with the proper size, the hood does fit. He's worn it a couple times now and I love that it's well made, stays on and covers his tummy. Can't say that for many raincoats. This was a good purchase!
So the only thing I was hesitant on this rain jacket was the rainbow print. If they would’ve had the yellow on deal in our dogs size I would’ve defaulted to that. HOWEVER it’s the most adorable thing & I actually love the color changing aspect of it. We have a large frenchie & our go to is size 20 Canada Pooch for her she’s like dressing a barrel. The only callout is this one is longer than her other vests/coats BUT I feel like this is purposeful & won’t be a problem bc of the structure of the material. My husband said it looked like she had an airfoil coming off of her backside lol The quality of the raincoat material is premium as well, I wouldn’t expect any less from CP, but also feel like you never know especially with plasticky raincoat fabric. CP hoods are the only hoods we can actually use bc of the button. If we unbutton it, she can’t see bc she has such a squishy face. I also love that the harness opening on CP items is actually large enough to be usable, but doesn’t impede the coverage of the coat/jacket. It covers her belly which is a must for a low rider in rainy weather & Velcro’s. Our previous raincoat had a zipper & it would rub her belly so she wouldn’t want to walk in it. Hands down worth the cost & will be our go to on rainy days & she won’t get too hot if it’s summer storms like we’re having now.
Jacket is super easy to put on and keeps her dry in wet weather.
