I have a one year old puppy who isn't picky, but doesn't eat much. I switched her over to Canidae and she never seemed to have much interest. I noticed over time her having more issues, which gradually increased to needing a vet visit. she doesn't have allergies, but the vet said her issues are almost certainly a result of the food. while the ingredients list looks appealing, it's put my puppy in a great deal of pain. I received a refund and am tossing out the whole bag.
This bag of dog food is full of dog food dust. This is awful!!! How do I get a refund?
Bear and Bruno are not too crazy about this one. They will eat only if they are really hungry and I do not give them anything else until the next day.
My yorkie 4 months won't touch it,neither will my yorkiepoo who is 2 yrs
I usually get the Chicken and Rice but it did not change the fact I like Canidae and have been using this to feed my dogs off and on over the last 20 years. It really is rare you can get a bag the size of 44 lbs, let alone 40 lbs. That makes such a huge difference, especially since I always have large breed dogs to feed. Hope they keep it this way as all the other brands charge way more and brought poundage down (ie., 25 lbs for same price as this 44 lb bag. And the quality is great. In these high cost times....it's a good thing
My vet says that this is one of the better dog foods, and my two dogs love it. One just turned 15 years, and the other just turned 4 years, and it is great for both of them!
Our malinois is starting to get more picky. We rotate her food every 6 months to a year and she used to eat this when she was younger. She is now 3. Not too excited eating this. May have to try something else. Also, on this delivery, this package has a lot of crumbs too.
Our dogs' trainer was a MWD handler, police k-9 officer and now owner of a very large training/kenneling facility. He keeps up with the news regarding best nutrition for dogs, the recalls, and the ratings based on testing. He recommended Canidae. This dog food keeps our dogs healthy, on their proper weight, coats shiny.
My dog likes this and I add some Canidae with salmon because she likes fish
So I've been using this brand since 2012. I was initially attracted that they used only human grade ingredients. This has since changed. They no longer advertise that, and have a whole blog entry on their site about how using human grade ingredients isn't that important. Recently noticed my pets' coats are not as shiny. Came on here and read reviews, saw the reviews about food dust etc.... Wow! I've noticed the food dust too. So I wrote Canidae and told them that we are all noticing a formula shift. I advised them they should improve the quality of the food and that I am personally willing to pay MORE for a higher quality food so please start using human grade ingredients and mark the price up a bit if needed... Got a formulaic "sorry your pet is sick" copy and paste customer service response. Wow, Canidae -- is your dog food making so many animals sick you just assume that's what every message says? That's.. sketchy.
