Feed Pregnant Dogs up to 50% more during the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. During Lactation and Puppies up to 6 months old, require twice the amount of food as an Adult dog and they should be fed 3 - 4 times a day. Puppies, 6 months to a year, twice daily. Senior and Overweight Dogs may be fed a reduced amount, depending on the dog's weight and activity level. The above Daily Feeding Guidelines are a good starting point on the amount of food suggested to be fed on a daily basis. If you feed more than once per day, simply divide the Daily Feeding Guidelines by the amount of times fed per day. Fresh water should be available at all times.
We have found that the smoothest transition from one dog food to another is to mix the foods together. When changing to CANIDAE some dogs may do better by making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days. Start with 25% of the new food mixed with 75% of the previous diet and gradually increase the new while decreasing the previous until the transition is complete

Affordable and decent quality food
By Value on Feb 23, 2021
We've used this food for both of our dogs (German Shepherd & Belgian Malinois) for a couple years. We initially picked this food because of the large quantity at an affordable price and the positive reviews. Our German Shepherd randomly started to have allergies this year (constant itching) so we tried changing the food and his itching has mostly stopped so we figured that he developed some type of sensitivity to this food. Our vet said this is not uncommon for the GSD breed so I don't really blame the quality of the food. Our Malinois is still on this food with no issues. We did notice after changing the food for our GSD his coat has been looking a lot more healthy than it did when he We've used this food for both of our dogs (German Shepherd & Belgian Malinois) for a couple years. Overall I would recommend this food especially if you are not able to afford some of those fancy "top of the line" brands out there, this one seems pretty decent for what it is. … more

Powdery but dogs love it
By BandOkie on Feb 3, 2021
First, the dogs love this food. I am assuming all the ingredients are wholesome and they are getting a good balanced diet. The one thing I don't like about it is the amount of powder/meal in the bag. I had to shake the tub each time I got food, after it was bout 50% gone, just so I could get kibble without the fuzz. It was only a pound or two, but I felt kind of ripped off.

Don't bother
By KaTee on Dec 24, 2020
Thought this might be a good fix for my mutley crew (12yr MinPin, 4yr Pitbull, 14m Husky.) They all liked the smaller bags but there is a major difference between the small bag and this one. They did not want to eat this, and seemed as this bag was heavy mix of crumbs to actual food. Even with a slow transition, using pumpkin and enzyme additives they were extremely gassy, stools were awful, ugh. Vet recommended to take them off this food. I had to go buy different food to transition back off this food. Will NOT buy again.

My dog can’t speak his opinion
By Ashley4mu on Dec 4, 2020
My baby (shihweenie) Reggie eats it up without a problem and has for 8ish years, he’s 10 1/2. I don’t eat it myself and he doesn’t talk to tell me what he really thinks but IMO it’s a little pricey and sometimes hard to find but nothing bad enough to make me want to change what I feed him.

My Pups New Favorite
By Chlochlo on Feb 2, 2021
My whoodle is pretty picky. She really enjoys this food and I think it is because it offers smaller pieces! Definitely recommend for picky eaters

I wanted to try a new food for my pups. I think this is fine? However, the stinkiest farts ever. I think it upsets their stomachs.

Bag full of dust and crumbs
By Labguy on Dec 18, 2020
Thought I would try this dog food out. We bought 2 bags and the first one we opened is full of dust or crushed dog food. Every scoop has a good amount in it. Thinking of sending second bag back. When you pay high price for food it should not have this much dust or crumbs in it.

Good brand, good price, but stomach and skin issues
By Jacki on Oct 27, 2020
Bought this because I always heard about Canidae being high quality dog food and for the size of bag, this is a great price! However, my lab mix seems to have digestive issues with it even after months of being on it & my basenji does not seem to care for it and is more itchy - switching my dogs back to Natural Balance LID lamb/brown rice.

Not like it very well
By Winston on Feb 5, 2021
My bulldog does not really like it. Unless I add something on top. Also give him bad gas and farting.
