    Honest review

I notice all the bad reviews are based on picky cats and not on the quality of the food itself, which doesn’t feel honest. I felt I needed to write a review so people can see how great this food is for cats who actually have eaten it. We switched our 7 month old kitten to this Canidae product (ancestral freeze dried salmon) after originally feeding Merrick brand food. Our kitten has been eating this food about 2-3 months now and we are seeing so many improvements! First off, the food is very nutritionally dense, so the serving sizes are very small, which allows the bag to last a long time. We feed twice daily and she never seems to be starving. First off, the food is very nutritionally dense, so the serving sizes are very small, which allows the bag to last a long time. We feed twice daily and she never seems to be starving. She’s appropriately gaining weight for her age based on veterinarian recommendations. Before switching, our cat had a lot of issues with gas and bloating, but now she has no issues. The best benefit seems to be with her coat. She is now incredibly soft, glossy, and she hardly sheds. She loves the food and is happy, healthy, and active. We will absolutely continue buying this amazing food for our cat. … more

    cats rejected

My cats did not care for this freeze dried food. I followed the directions for introducing a new cat food, all 5 cats totally eat all around the Canidae and eat their normal brand. They don't even touch the Canidae.

    Cats love it

    By on

I have three cats who are 1.5, 7, and approximately 14 years old. I've been getting this for a couple of months now and all three LOVE this food! I am really happy with it being so high in nutrition because it really lasts as well. Will buy again!

    Bleahh-Chicken Chow!

    By on

None of my cats will eat this either. I threw it out for the possum who lives under my storage shed and my chickens ate it? ?

um... they just don't like it, for some reason...

I'm an ingredients reader, and this stuff should be good. I've even mixed it, and they actually pick around it... I'm not sure what's going on here. I've had to mix two other adult cat foods with it. And I can tell which one they are select-cutting out, because all three are different colors and shapes. And yes, of course, all three cats prefer the kitten-chow which has rewarded my senior cat with a rotund waddle, but this stuff they are suspicious of for some reason, and I don't have finicky cats... it is RAW-COATED and not actually raw, per se. But I cant always afford raw or freeze dried. They get enough of that, mousing. But they're going to have to finish it anyway... they usually I'm an ingredients reader, and this stuff should be good. wont buy again

thought i would try this food given the ingredients sound overall healthy and its a little cheaper than their normal food that comes from canada, but all 6 of my cats flat out refuse to eat it. i usually have at least one taker but after 2 days of no one eating it had to donate it.

    Really didn't like it.

    By on

My cat really didn't like this food and wouldn't eat it at all. I used to rarely come home to see her bowl with food still in it but now that's a daily occurrence.
