3 cats like it
By julia on Mar 9, 2021
I see this has a lot of bad reviews from cats not liking it, and I thought it was funny because all 3 of my cats like it. Two of them are very picky! Their normal food is a frozen raw mix and wet food from another brand, but sometimes if I'm not able to feed them every few hours (ridiculous) I leave out dry food. They all liked it and it gets used up faster than the previous dry food they had. They especially like it fresh out of the bag, so if your cat doesn't seem to like it - is it stale?

Only thing my manx syndrome cat will eat
By CatDogmom on Mar 11, 2021
Charlotte has manx syndrome which comes with digestive issues. This is literally the only food she will eat. She won’t even eat other Canidae cat foods that are salmon. This is it. She will starve herself before eating anything else. And she is doing great on it digestive wise.

My cats were underwhelmed
By MGates on Feb 22, 2021
I've been wanting to try this food since it came out. None of my 5 cats are picky eaters and none of them would eat this food. After a few days one or two finally picked at it but the other 3 refused. I buy premium food and had high expectations for this one. I give it 3 stars because it is quality food, but obviously not palatable for my fur babies.

Cats would rather starve
By Alexandra on Nov 28, 2020
The ingredients looked great and I thought I'd switch their palate up from the standard Orijin Acana. My cats (3) would all rather starve than eat this. I don't know what is in this food that makes them hate it so much. One will try to eat it and regurgitate it within minutes, as if his own stomach is rejecting it.

Cats love it
By Suzie on Jan 29, 2021
I have tried so many dry foods & my cats always snubbed them, would not even try them. I don't know why, but they love this one.

Raw Dry Food
By Luke on Jan 27, 2021
Although our cat seems to like variety in his dry food, he wouldn't even touch this food and we had to contact Chewy for a refund.

Great Food
By KommandarPanda on Oct 26, 2020
This food is wonderful. I switched to this food when I wanted to have a higher quality food in the hopes it would help my adult cat trim down a tad. She and my younger cat have been on this for well over 9 months now and they are doing splendid! My adult cat has trimmed down nicely (probably also because the younger one is keeping her on her toes) and my younger one has stayed a nice consistent weight. Definitely worth the price!

Tried something different
By Bella on Nov 5, 2020
I tried this food to give my 4 cats a little variety Unfortunately my cats only ate a few pieces and walked away. They will not go back to it.

Honest review
By Hezzah on Apr 19, 2020
I notice all the bad reviews are based on picky cats and not on the quality of the food itself, which doesn’t feel honest. I felt I needed to write a review so people can see how great this food is for cats who actually have eaten it. We switched our 7 month old kitten to this Canidae product (ancestral freeze dried salmon) after originally feeding Merrick brand food. Our kitten has been eating this food about 2-3 months now and we are seeing so many improvements! First off, the food is very nutritionally dense, so the serving sizes are very small, which allows the bag to last a long time. We feed twice daily and she never seems to be starving. She’s appropriately gaining weight for her age based I notice all the bad reviews are based on picky cats and not on the quality of the food itself, which doesn’t feel honest. She’s appropriately gaining weight for her age based on veterinarian recommendations. Before switching, our cat had a lot of issues with gas and bloating, but now she has no issues. The best benefit seems to be with her coat. She is now incredibly soft, glossy, and she hardly sheds. She loves the food and is happy, healthy, and active. We will absolutely continue buying this amazing food for our cat. … more

cats rejected
By joyceann on Mar 14, 2020
My cats did not care for this freeze dried food. I followed the directions for introducing a new cat food, all 5 cats totally eat all around the Canidae and eat their normal brand. They don't even touch the Canidae.
