I thought finding grain free food was a challenge, I now have a cat with a chicken allergy trying to find grain free food with no chicken is a challenge. I found this thought it looked good, limited ingredients. Nope no one would eat it. I put it outside thinking the stray cats and raccoons would eat it but they didn't touch it either.
One of my cats developed food allergies & turns out chicken makes her sick. Not all of my 9 cats liked this food at first, but after a couple of months of "eat this or starve" all my cats eat it regularly & all have shiny fur. Recommenced if your cat is allergic to chicken since this is chicken free & much more economical compared to other brands w/o chicken. It is also high in protein.
I feed about 16 cats daily. Kibble is more snack/ teeth cleaner and cans are mainstay. This one is a change of variety (from the Blue ,which they love,) and since canidae foods are good quality, I tried it. We will buy again for some variety from chicken flavors. Good ingredients!!
My boys seem to like the Canidae brand better than others. I give them unlimited access to the dry food and they have never been overweight. They're 8 years old & still look like 1 year-olds. Shiny black coats, no tummy distress. I read all the labels, this has what my babes need & very little of what they don't. I volunteer at a shelter and I recommend this to new cat owners. Cheers...Stacee
This was the worst food I've ever given my cats. They refuse to eat it. Whenever I come home they pester me for food as if they don't have a big bowl of it.
My cats are genuinely not picky but they hated this food. We tried using it as a treat as well to see if they will eat it and they refused entirely. We had to switch them to something else.
I don't like the taste of this food... at all! My human servant must bribe me by crushing up these tasty little treats I love in the food before I will eat it. However, my fur is gorgeous and I rarely get sick on the rug anymore. And, while I believe my poop doesn't stink, my human has told me that it doesn't smell nearly as bad as it did on the Iams food that I think is so delicious. Perhaps i will tell the servant to try a different flavor.
A lot of the pieces were broken and there was A LOT of cat food dust. My kitties will not eat it. However, Chewy has been very accommodating and is sending another bag. Will update once received.
My cats are both 18, one of which is super picky about her food. I just got this to switch them too and they love it already. I gave them a small handful before before filling their free feeder dish and in the few seconds it took me to cross the room to the feeder, they had eaten the entire handful I'd given them. And were at my feet meowing for more. The food they were eating previously took some getting used to and also made their poops smell worse then normal. Normally my picky one will refuse a new food and it'll take her a few weeks to actually try it. This one she gobbled up and then wanted more. So its definitely a win for my two seniors.
I was thrilled to see this limited ingredient food on sale, I have 5 house cats and 2 of them suffer allergies to grains, I bought 3 bags of this on sale.. not one cat in the house will touch it, I figured they were just being picky, so I pushed the issue and didn't leave out anything else.. that did not go over well, they ate some, but would not settle down.. after 3 days I gave up, I'm now sitting on 30 lbs of this junk.
