Feed Pregnant Dogs up to 50% more during the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. During Lactation and Puppies up to 6 months old, require twice the amount of food as an Adult dog and they should be fed 3 - 4 times a day. Puppies, 6 months to a year, twice daily. Senior and Overweight Dogs may be fed a reduced amount, depending on the dog's weight and activity level. The above Daily Feeding Guidelines are a good starting point on the amount of food suggested to be fed on a daily basis. If you feed more than once per day, simply divide the Daily Feeding Guidelines by the amount of times fed per day. Fresh water should be available at all times.

Transition Instructions

We have found that the smoothest transition from one dog food to another is to mix the foods together. When changing to CANIDAE some dogs may do better by making a gradual transition over 7 - 10 days. Start with 25% of the new food mixed with 75% of the previous diet and gradually increase the new while decreasing the previous until the transition is complete

  • Finally a food my lab can eat

    By on

My chocolate lab is 9 months old and I have been through pretty much every brand looking for something to help with his stomach, chicken and anything with chicken fat used as a preservative gives him horrible bloating and gas and tummy rumbles and gives him really loose stools , same with too high of fat or protein , he was on the Merrick LID in the lamb and sweet potato but he didn't like it , this food after feeding for 2 weeks, his rumbling tummy and gas issues have gone away and his stools are firm. This food is one of the very few that has no poultry in it and it is a keeper in my house

  • Lamb-only diet!

    By on

This kibble is the only kibble, that I could find in various stores, that does not have chicken fat, beef, wheat, corn, soy, and other common allergens. One of my dogs has severe skin issues when he eats any other kibble. He loves the kibble so much I use them as treats (since treats are expensive, especially lamb-only treats).

  • Love this brand dog food

    By on

Very happy with service chewy.com provides..delivery is always fast. Also happy with this brand of dog food..my dog loves the taste and it's a healthy option at an affordable price! Chose the lamb over the chicken due to many dogs developing chicken allergiez!

  • Hoping this is the ONE

    By on

We are trying this lamb and rice formula for our golden who has a “sour stomach”. He has been diagnosed with epilepsy and since the addition of anti seizure medication, developed a severe stomach upset. This was the recommendation from several animal care providers. We are still in the food transition stage. One wish; add the Velcro type closure to the bag!

  • Happy dogs!

    By on

I have 2 Boxers and a Pit mix. Finding a food that works for all of them has been a challenge. 3 weeks in and all 3 are responding well to this food. They love the food and we add some fresh veggies to top it off.

  • Been feeding this for 10+ years

    By on

I've been feeding Canidae Lamb and Rice to my dogs (variously 2 Dalmatians and 2 Labs) from puppy up to senior. It's a great, quality, affordable middle-of-the-road food and they all love it. I save the UPCs and go to the local feed store to redeem for a FREE bag of food from the manufacturer when I accumulate 12.
