We bought three small bags of dog food to see what our GSD prefers as we transition her to a Senior diet. She clearly prefers this dog food. She is not a finicky eater but certainly shows preferences. Not only does she like it but it agrees with her and she is doing very well with it.
Food was shipped promptly & seems OK. I have 1 old Sheltie with digestive issues & 1 Aussie with upset tummy episodes that's a picky eater. Sheltie tolerates the food & eats it well; with Aussie, it's a tough sell. He's skipped quite a few meals. I'll most likely try other foods.
The ingredients are good but I expected chondroitin or glucosamine since it is advertised as a senior meal.
I love this brand. My dog is about to turn 12 next week and about 2 years ago I started my research to find the best dog food for seniors. This brand was on the list so I gave it a try and it was a success, I have not changed it since. You can tell is excellent quality, my dog really likes it, and it comes in small pieces so it's perfect for seniors. Totally recommend it!
We have a 9 year old Shepherd mix. When we rescued him he arrived with every problem you can imagine. One was food anxiety. He literally turned his head and refused to eat. But then we found Canidae. He was on the 30 (which I believe has been discontinued) so we turned to this formula. A winner for sure! He is airborne when its time to eat! We do mix the dry with a couple of spoons of Canidae wet to make an enticing meal for him. To say we are thrilled is an absolute understatement. Wonderful product!!
My dog was getting over the last food so I thought I'd try this more expensive brand. My dog seems to like it but what I found interesting is the amount of food dust I found in the bag just like you would find at the bottom of a cereal bag. For being such an expensive brand of food I would have expected the quality to be be higher as well. After pouring the whole bag into the food bin the first scoop of food was half food dust and half food. Ive never seen this before in any other dog food I bought so this seems very weird to me. I hope that is not part of the weight in this very expensive bag of dog food. I probably will not buy again.
Due to supply chain issues, had to switch from Honest Kitchen to Canidae. Canidae is what I fed her when I first got her at 8 wks. She was in it for 2 yrs when I heard of Honest Kitchen. 5 yrs later switching back again. So blessed to be able to choose between the 2 best brands out there. While they are distinctly different brands, they are synonymous in quality and value. My sister bred bull mastiffs 17 yrs, life span 7-9 yrs. On Canidae they lived 14-15 yrs.
My heeler loves this dry dog food however shipping pulverizes the kibble. I prefer kibble bits versus pulverized powder, plus it is harder to measure.
Our old boxer-lab needs all the help she can get at her advanced age. Nutrition is very important to sustaining her, so we are glad to be able to get a dog food of the high quality that Canidae provides. This grain-free option for a senior dog is a life-saver, we believe. Our girl loves it, and she has zero digestive issues with this food. It's so good that the cat steals bites of it!
Pricey. So far my sick labradoodle is able to tolerate it. I like the ingredients that's in it. It's a premium food with a premium price.
