    Watery and smelly

    By on

This is not the consistency of other CC formulas; its way too watery & fishy smelling. I might as well feed them canned salmon, at least I will be able to see the chucks and won't smell up my house.

I LOVE THE TEXTURE OF THIS ONE!!!

    By on

I would give it a hundred stars, if I could! After reading the negative reviews on this version of CC, I was very apprehensive, but my dog has multiple allergies and this is, quite literally, the only brand of food that he can tolerate - and, even then, he can only have the venison version of the dry. I feed him a prey model raw diet in the summer and this when the weather is nasty in the winter. With his limited diet, I had to give the Salmon a go. Honestly, I wish ALL of the canned Canine Caviar were this easy to mix in. All of the other varieties have to be chopped up and smashed to mix in with the kibble. This pours out of the can, but it more of a cake batter consistency, not "watery", as I would give it a hundred stars, if I could! I would highly recommend giving this one a try. If your dog does not like fish (like my weird cats), they won't like it; however, my guys love, love, love it! My bigger guy (the allergic one), actually dances around, he is so excited when I open the can. … more

    Across-the-Board Disgusting

While some dog foods have a more liquid consistency, this one has the worst kind of liquid composition. Frankly, it looks exactly like throw-up, or something a dog would vomit up after eating too much, or the wrong meal. But, what made it worse was the foul smell. Granted, a lot of dog foods are not the best smelling, but this food had a strong and sour stench that wreaked in the kitchen and house, and in Nicky's dish, even after she ate it all. As for liking this food, our Pyrenees, who eats anything and everything--and could eat all day-- did not finish this food after about the third can, because she couldn't bear it either. I like making a nice mix of wet and dry for her--I tried my best with this food, and even added a little cheese. Still, she just started to reject it. It got to the point where she would walk out of the kitchen as I opened the can. I found myself only adding a little of this wet food to the kibble and tossing most down the drain with lots of hot water and soap. I try all brands and I am convinced this is just an "icky" dog food--I wonder what on EARTH is mixed in here. And, yes, it is salmon (and fish can smell quite strong), but I have a feeling the other meats would be just as vile in terms of consistency and stench. I will never try this brand again. There are four cans left in the cupboard, and I don't even want to donate them. The ONE star rating is because the brand name, CANINE CAVIAR, is really good--it is a shame the product is horrific. … more

    Not Worth It

    By on

I am trying new wet dog food because Chewy no longer carries FROMM. All the other brands I have tried are fine, but Canine Caviar in the Wild Salmon variety is more like soup. I should have returned the product immediately, but I threw away the packing slip and figured I will just have to eat the cost.

Watery compared to other wet food

    By on

Bought this since my girls' normal Turkey was out of stock. This was very watery. Not much like a pate. It also was very stinky. No dog kisses after dinner with this one

    Great product!

This item is absolutely great, and Mikey loves it very much. He never liked any kind of fish. But to my surprise he gables it down.

    NOT what we expected.

    By on

We were expecting the same texture as the other wet foods like the lamb and turkey. The salmon is very watery. Dogs ate it but curious why so much liquid rather than pate' as the other wet foods?

    Truth in some reviews

    By on

Yes Salmon is water, but the fish is not a meaty one. I wish it came from the USA. Chewy always makes sure I can get my hands on it. As for the person who says she is "stuck" with food she ordered!!! Well she should know that Chewy refunds you if you are ever not pleased with a product .Call customer service to find out how you can be refunded. Lastly, I am a true blue fan and not an employee of Chewy.com. I just felt I had to give them a thumbs up.

    Not sure at first

    By on

My dog has been getting the turkey and duck in the past so I thought I would mix it up a bit. At first, he wasn't sure if he liked it. The texture is definitely different from the other two. He reluctantly ate it with the kibble we serve him. Since the initial time, he has adapted and eats it fine.
