How often can I administer Capstar to my pet?

A single dose of Capstar should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once a day.

What is the best way to administer Capstar?

Capstar is available as an oral flea tablet. Place the pill directly in your pet's mouth or hide it in food. If you hide it in food, watch closely to make sure your pet swallows the pill. If you are not sure that your pet swallowed the pill, it is safe to give a second pill.

How does Capstar work to treat flea infestations?

Female fleas can lay up to 50 eggs a day.1 If left untreated, a flea infestation can take months to eradicate. Capstar kills adult fleas before they can lay eggs. Capstar can be given as often as once daily, if needed, to treat a flea infestation as existing flea larvae emerge into adult fleas.

Do not give Capstar for Large Dogs (57.0 mg) to cats, or dogs with less than 25 pounds of body weight.

Can I combine Capstar with another flea treatment?

If you are currently administering a monthly flea infestation preventive and your pet still gets fleas, you may administer Capstar treatments daily, as needed, for quick relief against a flea infestation. Capstar may also be used with flea shampoos, as well as heartworm preventives, antibiotics, vaccines and de-worming medications.

Can Capstar act as a preventive flea treatment?

I’ve had a flea problem every flea season...

    By on

I’ve had a flea problem every single flea season (my boyfriend and I have been wanting our cats to be inside cats but my in-laws insist on having their cat go outside from time to time like a dog) and once we had two kittens with fleas all over them I know I had to draw the line and try something new. These worked so well! And I’m so happy they have so many exceptions and can be used every 24 hours. We used them just once so far and they died and jumped right off of our poor little fur babies now they are so happy and not scratching at their bites anymore.

    This stuff worked wonders!

    By on

This stuff worked like magic! I really figured that it would probably just make the fleas fall off, if anything at all. Boy, was I wrong! I have 6 indoor cats and they had fleas really bad. I gave each one a tablet and within 2 or 3 hrs, they went from scratching themselves silly to sound asleep. The fleas did fall off, but they were completely dead. It lasted for about 4-5 days until I saw a live flea again. I wish it killed the eggs and larvae. Other than that, this stuff was great!

THE BEST THING SINCE THE WHEEL

    By on

I have two INDOOR fur babies that developed fleas for the first time after living under my roof for over 10 years, so the only one I can blame for this phenomenon is myself. I must have brought them into the house somehow - anyway I've been trying to get rid of them for about 3 or 4 months now until one of the wonderful Chewy people recommended Capstar. The little buggers are all but gone now and all three of us could not be happier. The pills are tiny (no gagging), you get 6, so I had enough for 3 each. Still have one left (the longhair needed 3 and the short hair only 2). MY ADVICE IS - DON'T HESITATE.

    Best product I have used

    By on

I don’t usually write reviews for items like this, but all i have to say is wow. My order arrived the next day, which was surprising to me. Once it got here i immediately gave my kitten the pill, I crushed it up and mixed it with some wet food. Thirty minutes later there were fleas just trying to leave her fur and once they did, they were alive for a couple seconds.

    Works Like A Charm

    By on

Can't be duplicated. My indoor cats don't get fleas often, in fact only once badly due to me hanging with the outdoor kitties, and another time I think I brought one in on my shoe. My dog's never had them, which is odd, because she goes out (but she's treated). Anyway, one of these pills and poof problem gone, simply amazing.

This product saves my issues for my cat. He is an outdoor and indoor cat so I worry about the fleas. Since he is part Siamese they tend to have allergies and last year he suffered so. I rely on this product put it into his Greenies treat and that is it. Thanks Chewy!!

    Kills the fleas

    By on

I have used Capstar before & am ordering again from Chewy. I don't know where people get the idea that this is a 30 day treatment. I guess they are not reading all the information on it. Capstar kills the adult fleas on your cat, it only lasts 24 hours. Since other flea products take longer, you can also use this with other products. Please read all info & make sure it is compatible before using.

Does EXACTLY what the box says!

    By on

After 2 different topical treatments, 2 shampoos and a flea collar failed, I tried this. I WISH I had known about it sooner. Within 24 hours the fleas we combed out were actually DEAD! We are combing them out regularly and are using Activyl now for monthly maintenance. So far so good.

yes this is a one a day kill all the fleas now treatment, I use it a couple times a month in this weather on the cats. You do need to use something like frontline or advantage...catego to get the egss and all else. A good flea bath with the advantage shampoo works as well. It works.
