Installed a couple of days ago. Had to use toggle bolts for one side. Created my own template for locking side (just drew around mounting section, then drew around inside of screw position). Was unable to hold the thing up by myself and in place to mark it. Drew a plumb line, folded the paper template in half vertically, matched halfway mark to plumb line, taped in place and drilled holes. Worked fine that way. Keyring totally worthless. I can't use those sitting in a chair using a screw driver and really struggling to get it open and insert whatever. I certainly could not lay on the floor and look up under it with bifocals at 73 and hope to put the keyring through the hole on the bottom of the rod. Bought a kotter key at local hardware; no problems putting that into the hole. Working fine. Much improvement over 4 separate gates to each room off hallway. With no trip hazard also really improves getting vacuum around and for workmen moving in and out.
The puppy hates the gate
But we LOVE this gate. The only two changes I would make are longer screws to attach to the door frame. And a hair pin looking thing for the bottom of the hinge pole. The key ring is hard to install.
The best gate I've ever had.
It's difficult to find a gate that doesn't have the "tripping" bar across the bottom so this one was worth taking a try at. It was easy to install (ie no argument with my husband!), and the one-handed operation is a real bonus. I highly recommend it.
We like this mainly because it is made of aluminum (except for the hinge and latch hardware). It is high enough to keep out Rottweiler out of certain areas and we have the gate set to swing in either direction. The box had a big hole in it due to shipping and there is paint chipped off of it, but that doesn’t keep it from doing it’s job.
Great Gate - Assembly frustrating
Very disappointed in the assembly process. The supplied screws were way too short, and it would be so helpful to list the sizes of any bolts involved. For a one way gate it should be clearly explained where to put the stop. It’s very difficult to do after latch is installed on the wall. I suggest growing another arm or at least have a person to help. Otherwise it’s a very sturdy and functional gate.
I bought 2 of these and they are very well made, came packaged very well, good looking and easy to open and close.
This is by far the best dog gate I have ever used. It keeps a 120# Rottweiler where he is supposed to be, and is very easy for us 2 legged members of the pack to pass through. My only complaint was that the screws sent with it were too short to strike wood. This was easily fixed with 1/2” longer screws, solidifying the gate. I recommend this product.
Absolutely love it. Going to buy another very soon......... THANK YOU!!!!!
This was an excellent purchase
I purchased the gate for the home of my friend. My dog, Gidget, and I spend a lot of time over there and wanted to make sure she could not leave the deck and get into the lake or out in the woods chasing squirrels. The gate is easy to open and close for a human and virtually impossible for a dog. I highly recommend it and feel it was money well spent!
Latch is too difficult to use properly
The gate was more cost than others with a decent review, but was extremely hard to line up everything so the latch would work. Like other reviews the latch is hard to operate once we got it all together and one said he oils it but that is outside. Ours is at the bottom of the stair so we will not be oiling it. Disappointed because by the time you put it up, there are so many holes in the wall that you do not want to go changing it and return it, too much trouble. Overall wish we bought something different.
