Is this safe for ingestion? I see my dwarf hamster eats it sometimes
Answer by ChewyOct 17, 2018
As with any substrate, there is a potential risk of impaction if your pet ingests a sufficient amount of bedding. Observe your pet and seek veterinary care if you suspect impaction of the GI tract.

I have a female box turtle that loves to hide in her bedding would this be safe to use for her. We wanted something that would add color plus allow her to hide as she likes

What kind of dye is used in the bedding? I'm considering this bedding for a robo dwarf hamster.
Answer by ChewyJan 11, 2018
When selecting colors to go into their products, they choose those with a history of human use like those used in bath and facial tissue.

can you use this for an outside cage for a rabbit?
Answer by ChewyApr 23, 2020
While this can be used outside, it's recommended to make sure it is not exposed to the weather (rain/snow/dew) so it stays dry and soft. In the wintertime it can be used to help keep them warm and cozy by providing a deep layer of it in their hutches. It’s especially great for nesting baby rabbits to keep them warm.

not as good as the past

I have always used Carefresh bedding for all my small animals (hamsters, gerbils, and Guinea pigs). I saw that this bedding had a deal buy two get one free and it was the brand I always got so I bought it. However, I’m really disappointed in my purchase. I liked Carefresh because it was colorful and amazing at controlling odor but within a day the cage started to stink. My cage is a 40 gallon long tank and I have a single hamster in it so it shouldn't already smell bad. I used to change my Carefresh bedding every 20 or so days because that it when it started to smell but this bedding didn't last more than a day. The bedding also isn't as soft as it used to be. All three bags were like this so I think the Carefresh company just isn't the same quality as it was before.

Okay I guess, but not as pictured.

Works fine I guess, but its not the same as what I ordered. The coloring is no where near what is pictured. I was looking forward to the variety of colors. Chewy just isn't what it used to be.

Bunny loves it

Bought this for a friend's bunny. She had been using a type of small animal litter that was good; however, this seems to absorb odor better and requires less changing. The biggest plus is that the rabbit loves it.

Started to Stink

I used this for a long time but as other reviewers have said, the last few bags have had a horrible smell before my guinea pig even got the chance to use it. its like they are recycling used toilet paper. If your animal is outside or somewhere that its ok to stink then its still good fluff.

product has been changed

This shipment of product is smaller pieces & it stinks after 24 hours of use. I’m not talking small stink - I’m talking you can’t stand the smell. Cost too much for it not to do what it’s supposed to do.

USED to be our favorite.

We’ve used this bedding for a while. Used to be very good at controlling odors longer than other brands. Now the bedding comes out of the package smelling horrible. We are switching brands because it smells so bad.

Rotten bedding

We have always ordered this type of bedding. This pack had a bad smell and was not right. We had to throw it away.

Was good, now sucks

We loved this bedding last year when we found it. Worked well absorbing pee smells. It’s still does well for pee smell but now they’ve changed the formula or something because now it smells like sour milk right out of the bag and it doesn’t dissipate. And the last three bags have had this issue. This will be last bag we buy.

Not good for hedgehogs!

This bedding is really dusty. I got it for my hedgehog who loves to burrow. When I opened the bag and started to dump it into her cage, puffs of dust appeared. Very dusty—get another brand!
