Would be great if it didn't smell bad
By Minizoo on Feb 21, 2021
I've been using this product for years for our guinea pig. Long ago the bedding didn't have any significant odor; you'd open the bag and it just smelled dry. For a long while now there's a chemical smell. It does dissipate over time but is very potent especially when you first open the bag. If they fixed that I'd give it 5 stars but given how long its been like this I suspect it's just a part of their drying process that they don't intend to change. As to the other reviews of this being dusty I've never found that.

Awful! So dusty!
By JenF on Jan 24, 2021
I have tried this product in the past... didn't love it then but it worked (was just kind of smelly and didn't control odor totally). I switched to the white for a bit, and recently couldn't find any so grabbed the natural color again to try (plus its cheaper). This product has gone way downhill in quality! It is SO dusty and SMELLS! Plus, you may as well put rocks in your animal's cage as the paper is so rough. Horrible product. I don't know what they did, but they somehow made a mediocre product even worse. That takes talent. I'll be switching back to the white color - and hopefully that hasn't gone downhill as well or else I'm at ground zero trying to find decent bedding for my bunnies!

Smells horrible
By Ajay on Feb 21, 2021
Bought this for my guinea because the white was sold out, and I honestly felt sorry for placing my guinea in this bedding. But I had to do what I had to do because the white was out. I will never buy this product again because not only did it smell bad but my guinea did not like it what so ever so I had to change it quickly.

Too Stinky!
By Charlie on Feb 8, 2021
Read through the reviews and hoped that the stench people mentioned were isolated incidents - I don’t think so! This came in a damaged bag that was taped closed and smelled like fresh garden fertilizer. I had hoped that letting it air out would fix things, but after a few days, the bedding still smelled...used. Had to toss the whole container and buy a new bag in a different brand.

Not so soft
By Hamster on Feb 22, 2021
I like Carefresh but this version is very hard and not soft at all. If it was made from recycled fibers - I'd give it a pass - but it is not. I think it is probably not comfortable for littler critters like hamsters. It also does not expand like other brands I have tried.

Decent bedding.
By BigAl on Feb 27, 2021
This stuff is pretty good. Much cleaner to use and absorbs really well. My only complaint is the packaging. Some sort of handle would be nice, as well as having the ability to seal the package once it's been opened.

Maybe a little TOO recycled
By Shyne on Feb 22, 2021
The Carefresh Natural that I get from Chewy smells awful and is far browner than what I get from local pet stores. I love natural carefresh but I don't know why the bags I get from chewy are just horrible.

Good rabbit bedding
By clm58 on Feb 10, 2021
This is all we use in our rabbit's litter box. It's great - absorbant and makes it easy to clean litter box. I wish our rabbits didn't occasionally want to nibble the litter but so far it hasn't been a problem.

So dusty and smelly
By Bimb on Jan 6, 2021
I tried this because the price was better than the blue one I'd been using from carefresh. You get what you pay for. Its dusty and made out apartment smell like a pet store. Not as absorbent as previous carefresh bedding I've ordered. Hedgehog and guinea pig did not enjoy. If a regular human can smell it, then imagine how they feel.

Literally smells worse than poop
By Chris on Jan 21, 2021
This natural bedding smells 100x worse than the poop/urine it's suppose to absorb. The odor is not localized either, it will cling to your pet (rabbit in my case). For about a week I was wondering why my rabbit smelled like potent dog poop - it's the bedding.
