Poorly Designed
Because there is a cat door, I made the assumption an average sized cat wouldn't be able to squeeze through the bars so I'm leaving this review as a warning for others who are new to the cat thing because they were adopted by a stray cat. The purpose of the gate was to keep my dog and cat separated while they grow comfortable with each other. My cat is able to squeeze through the bars which would be less of an issue if the gate's design took into consideration the height of the average doorknob which makes it impossible to close that door now. So now I'm left with a gate my cat can easily get out of drilled into the doorframe and no way to close the door to keep her inside.
Good gates have held up
I have 3 gates that I have now used for over 2 years and they are still like new. I adopted a Great Dane who quickly showed a strong desire to chase cats even though I had been told she was good with them. These gates quickly became essential to managing the situation in my open floor plan, allowing the cat an escape into the bedroom or cat room as well as being convenient for me to walk through rather then having to take down every time I needed to get into a room. The gates are pressure mounted into wall cups that are screwed into the doorframe making them quite secure. I think my doorframes might come off first! The walk through door is a little narrow and I have hit it a few times pretty hard with everything staying in place. My biggest complaint is that the gate should either be an inch shorter or else taller with a space for a door handle. When placed in a doorway you will be unable to shut the rooms door so that it latches as the doors handle will hit the gate.
Just what we needed
Our 2 year old Newfoundland was going over our standard height gate. So far, so good with this one. And one of the best features is the small pet door. Our cat LOVES it. She spends most winters in our basement with the woodstove and this allows her to come upstairs and go back to basement whenever she pleases. I'm sure she would rate the feature alone 5 stars.
Gate works great!
Removed the cat door. Have it in front of the laundry room. It is to keep the grand dogs and grand kids out. The cat litter box and cat food, as well as laundry detergent and supplies for outside that are dangerous for all. This gate is sturdy and protective. Just what was needed. Easy to use when needing to enter and exit. Door closes very well. Would recommend.
Works well for foster dog!
This gate is working really well for keeping my foster dog separate from my other dog and cat while we get to know him and he recovers from kennel cough. Since he is a large dog I love the height and it fits well into the average sized doorway. The button clasp is a little awkward and tough to open sometimes hence the 4 star vs 5 but overall, good for intended purpose.
Great gate and easy to install
I liked the look of this gate but hesitated because I thought it would be difficult to install. It was very easy! So if I have to bring something in that is to wide, I can just take it down and put in back up in a minute. And best of all - It keeps the dog in the kitchen when I don't want him to have run of the house.
Genius product
I love love love this product. I just moved into a ranch style home and prior I had 2 cats and a dog that lived on separate levels of our last home. The dog just has way to much energy. The dog was always getting at the cat food and cat litter at the new house UNTIL this product came. Now my cats can have some peace while pooping and not have to share their food with my dog. I am about to buy another one just to keep them separated while my cats now hide under my sons bed. Please tell me they will eventually like each other
Litter box sample deterrent
This gate was lot taller than I technically needed but I had to get a gate that my cats could get through and my nasty dog couldnt. She likes to sample from the litter box buffet!
Perfect for my pets
Purchased to keep my puppy out of the laundry room where the litter box for the cat is. It was easy to put together, well built and I did not need to screw this into the woodwork. It does come with an extender that I did not need for this opening. My cat had no issues using the small door and enjoys having the privacy from the puppy.
Best walk through gate
This is so perfect! Our labs like to get in and sneak kitty food and screws with the litter box. My kittens get trough the kitty door and I can walk in without taking any gate down. Love this!
