My opening is about 75 inches. Can this gate be sized to fit that space with the extensions?

The large expands from 50-59 inches and the extension is 24 inches so this will be fine for your opening.
what is the width of the actual walk through opening?

The width of the walk-through gate opening is 17 inches. The walk-through design also features a 10 x 7 inch pet door letting small animals pass through while everyone else stays put.
Can this fit a 78-79 inch opening?

This gate has an ability to expand from 34.5-37.5 inches and can also fit extra large openings between 51-59 inches wide.
Does this swing open or have walk through gate? Is it easy to detach from one part of the wall and close back? I have approximately 58.5 to 59" gap for the kitchen I am going to block for puppies, my grandma would still like to get to kitchen without falling over something.

not german shepard puppy safe

My german shepard puppy would lean on or jump on the gate eventually it broke. it lasted for about a month

Perfect fit

This gate was the perfect fit for our awkward sized doorway and soooo easy to install. My only complaint is the screw heads snapped off two screws when I was installing. So I switched them for some screws I had at home

Kept inside

I am buying this gate again because it worked great for almost three years—until our Wolfhound decided to barrel through. It took no time to put together and it’s sturdy.

Easy to use

With arthritis my concern was being able to open the gate. It is very easy to open and close, even for children.

Smallest size is 35.5 in

I initially bought this gate for a large area spanning 51 inches. Then, I changed my mind about where I wanted to put it and was happy that it would also work for 34.5 to 38 inches. The spot I wanted to put it was 35 inches. However, because of the way the gate is designed, one side is not as adjustable as the other, and therefore the smallest possible width of the gate mechanism is 35 inches. Plus the 1/2 in required for the mounting brackets, you need a space no narrower than 35.5 inches. Wish I had known this before drilling 8 holes in my wall and scratching the daylights out of them trying to get this thing in.

Perfect— Fits Just RIght

It looks exactly as pictured. It was easy to install. I have an 82 lb clumber spaniel and a yellow lab puppy. It is strong enough to hold the spaniel when he decides to jump up (bad move on his part!). I am not sure how long the latch will last, It works fine, but it seems though it might eventually give way. Works perfectly!

not for those who aren't technically savvy

I bought this for my 1 basset hound and 3 cats. I have 2 very large entries in my home so the sizing was perfect however I am not handy and both me and my son are having a heck of a time putting this together. The instructions aren't that great for non-handy people either and now I'm at my wits end trying to keep the dog away from the litter box.

Poorly engineered

My opening is 52 inches. To work, i had to set the gate to the smallest setting 50 inches or so. Unfortunately, at this setting the stabilizing foot does not work. No way to attach it. And, since the stabilizer foot does not work, the screw template is off. The stabilizer foot raises the gate a half inch or so and the screw template is marked for use of the stabilizer foot. In order to use the included screw template and stabilizer foot, your opening needs to be at least 53 inches, if not a tad bit wider. Of course, nothing in the manual makes note of the above issue. Also, one of the double sided screws came out of the box stripped, unusable. I called customer service and got caught in an answering machine loop before my call was finally disconnected. I called again and was directed to leave a message. Not very good customer service. Frustrating...everything.

Large walk through gate

This gate worked perfect for my 55 inch doorway! My great grandson is visiting and I needed a sturdy gate to separate him from my German Shepherd who is adjusting to a small child in the home. The walk through feature is great! The gate was easy to install and is very sturdy. The color is attractive and my grandson hasn’t been able to figure out the lock. Very pleased with the product!

Great Product

I foster dogs and have struggled with keeping them contained while having easy access to the other rooms myself. One I have now is a jumper and he can't get over this one. I did mount it about 3 inches off the floor. It is perfect for my needs.
