Where the heater would have to go?
Is the filter removable, or is it permanently affixed to the inside of the tank?

The pump is permanently attached to the tank, however the filter can be removed and changed.
Is the fish tank operated by batteries or plug in?

This fish tank must be plugged in and runs on electricity.

Wouldn’t recommend.

I purchased this aquarium for my 3 guppies. First, I didn’t like the bright daylight white light. I would prefer it to be soft white. The moonlight is too blue to my taste. The glass cover is not hinged (and it couldn’t be because of the light fixture above it). Could it be sliding over, but fixed a little? I don’t know, but it seems very fragile to take the glass off every time to feed fish. The glass cover is easy to be dropped into the aquarium. The filter takes a lot of space out of this small tank. But I could live with all those imperfections. The worst thing happened while the aquarium was still cycling: the filter stopped working. Just shut off for no reason. I never had a chance to put any fish into it, only sand and a couple of plants. Thankfully, the Chewy’s costumer service is superior as always. They offered me a full refund, and I ordered a different model aquarium for my 3 guppies. Hopefully, that will be a better experience.

Not a great buy

Set tank up, didn't even get fish in it before the pump went out. Not a good desk set up.
