Why do you add salt?

Animal protein is naturally low in salt, yet salt is an essential dietary nutrient needed for electrolyte balance, acid base balance, osmotic and water pressure around the cells, nerve function, proper digestion and reproduction. In order to provide your pet with a complete and balanced diet and to comply with the level of salt required by AAFCO, Castor & Pollux will add trace amounts of sodium chloride (the same as table salt) to their formulas.
what is the phosphorus content?

Castor & Pollux does not test for phosphorus content in these recipes, since it is not considered a complete and balanced meal. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian on whether this recipe is suitable for your pets current health.
What countries are the ingredients "responsibility sourced" from?

Castor & Pollux will source most of their ingredients in the US. However, they do outsource some ingredients from outside of the country. For example their Lamb will come from New Zealand and their Vitamins/Minerals premix comes from either Canada or Germany, depending on availability.
