Instructions
  1. Place template in desired position on door and draw round it. (We recommend the bottom of the hole is approximately level with your pet’s stomach.)
  2. Use an electric jig-saw to cut along inside of drawn line. For screen doors, use scissors or a sharp knife to cut hole. Be careful to cut hole square to the door, particularly with thicker doors. Ensure frames are free-fitting in hole.
  3. Position interior frame (frame without swinging flap) on inside of door and mark four screw positions.
  4. Remove frame and drill screw clearance holes in panel to approximately 3 ⁄16 inches diameter.
  5. Determine thickness of door panel (t).
  6. Select appropriate screw/spacer combination.
  7. Position exterior frame on outside of door. Screw interior frame to it by using appropriate screw/spacer combination for panel thickness (see Fig. 6). Finally, fit screw caps.

    Patio access

    By on

I used a piece of 1/2" plywood. Routed the inside hole so the door fit in snugly and placed the piece in the window so the cats can have access to the patio. The door allows you to lock the window both ways so they can come in at night but not go out. Wonderful.

    Good product with one shortcoming

    By on

The door was great but the screws were too short to fit through my storm door. I had to find longer screws.

    Excellent cat door

    By on

Easy to insert and took no time at all for my little monster to learn how to use it.

    Not for smart cats.

    By on

We purchased this cat door to give our indoor/outdoor cat access to my detached studio building. We needed to purchase the additional 'tunnel' pieces for a 4.5" wall. All went well until my cat figured out how to 'unlock' the door (this is no easy task, as a human needs to push down on the locks while sliding them into position). Yesterday I took her breakfast out, went to unlock the cat door, but the green slider (in only) was broken and the door wouldn't work correctly. I had to remove the green slider entirely. I would caution anyone thinking of buying this cat door to look into other alternatives first.

Good Quality, hoping the cat figures it out

    By on

We had another cat door, which our cat used regularly, but replaced it with this one because we liked the lock out features. Just installed it a few days ago and our small cat seem intimidated by the hard surface door (other one was softer and rubbery). Hoping that he figures it out because we like the other features. Seems to be good quality. Stay tuned.

OK . . . But you May Need to Buy Screws

    By on

Product looks good, well made and designed. Maker must have assumed it was going to be put into a flat thin piece of wood, like a door panel. I put it in a 2" thick hollow interior door and the screws were 1 1/2" too short. Anyway,be prepared to buy longer screws . . .

    Made for very thin doors!

    By on

This is not designed for a regular door leading to the outside! In very tiny print on the very top of the package, not obvious at all, are the words "up to 1/2". This information is critical and should be made very clear on the packaging AND on the website. Now that we've unpacked it, and fiddled with it trying to get it to fit, we can't return it. A waste of money.

installation simple enough, will this last?

    By on

My previous cat door lasted 16 years. It's difficult to know whether this will, so I hesitate to rate it too highly. Install was simple and easy to follow.

This door exceeded my expectations. It has a very good design and is quite easy to install. I would definitely buy this door if I need another one.

    Convenient door

    By on

I attached this cat door to my screen door, on the lower left-hand corner, right over a bit of the door-frame itself, so it is very stable. The screws simply punctured through the screen so no drilling.
