  • Needs improving, but good product

I like the idea of this product, however, I'm not sure how cats are supposed to know when they open. A bell on this, like a kitchen timer, would have been very helpful. I'm trying to train them to use it by putting a penny on top of each lid, so that when it hits the floor as it opens, the cats will hear and know it's time to eat. Not working great so far, as a couple of cats will hear and the other 2 won't, so 2 cats end up earing all the food. I would pay twice as much if the timer was digital instead of a dial. It's hard to set 4 timers to go off at the same time. Would love to see a stainless steel bowl option as well for cats who have allergy issues and get chin acne from plastics. All in all, a good option. I wanted my cats to eat 3x a day and I'm away from home 11 hours a day. This allows them to eat every 8 hours and has helped 1 cat not throw up from acid buildup. … more

  • Cat flipped this over!

    By on

I really hoped this would be a helpful product for my 3 kittens. I tried it a few times without using the timer- just as a feeding tray, and it was fine. Sadly the first time I used it with the timer, and put it down with the lid closed, one of my 4 month old kittens pushed it around and flipped it over! He went crazy smelling the food but not being able to get into it!

  • Breaks after a month

DO NOT BUY THIS!!! Got this feeder for my 12lb dog. I work 12 hour shifts at a hospital and I have walkers come by to take my dog out and check in on her but I wanted to keep her schedule for meals so I got this feeder. I only use the feeder 3 times a week. It worked great for a month and then it stopped working. I tried changing the battery and everything but I believe the ticker is broken so nothing can fix it.

I have used these for a few years now. I like them well enough, but they do occasionally NOT open. Luckily I feed twice daily and I have someone come in every day to feed morning meal and refill feeders. I recommend playing with them for a few days, setting timer and checking to make sure open.

  • Great product.

Works well. I need to leave my cat for 24 hrs and giving her wet food at 8-12 hrs works fine. I don't think the cold pack will stay cold for 24 hrs though. She wasn't afraid of it and it is quiet. Works well.

  • The greatest item !

I use the feeder at night ....i feed a raw chicken diet and it helps my cat graze. the "blue ice" keeps food cool and fresh. When i am away from home the cat sitter uses it a.m. and p.m. and kitty is very happy.

  • So far so good

I have been testing this for about a week and overall it's been successful. It took my cat a little time to realize his food was waiting for him so I started feeding him from the tray while I was home so he'd know to look for it when I was away. While the ticking sound from the timer is loud(ish) the feeder doesn't make any sound when it opens so my cat needed a cue to look for it. He figured it out within a day or two. For wet food, I find it's best to use this no longer than 4 hours from when you place the food in the feeder since the ice pack loses its chill somewhat quickly. I suspect you can stretch that longer if you put the food in frozen. Some nights I have to work late and hate I have been testing this for about a week and overall it's been successful. For those nights, I set a small lunch time meal in the feeder so he doesn't have to go too long without food. As he's adjusted he either eats all of it or just enough to feel good during the day. Since he's gotten used to it I'm less concerned about him over eating from the feeder out of rushing or confusion about when he'll eat again. It's brought a lot of relief to my stressful days and reduces my bad mom guilt significantly! … more

  • Great concept, just did not work consistently.

Bought this for my two cats. Idea was to have it feed them their morning meals, and the pet sitter would come in late afternoon to feed the dinner meals, and reload this for the next day's morning meals. Worked great ONCE, then not again. I tried 4x and although it ticked the time down fairly accurately, neither compartment ever opened and my cats were not fed. Thank heavens I tried using this a week before we were leaving. MUST SAY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CHEWY IS BEYOND EXCELLENT!!! No problems whatsoever in getting full refund and many apologies that this failed my needs. Not their fault, in EVERY product there are duds. Oh well. Thank you very much CHEWY!!! • great product!

This is a great product. My cat took to it very well. I wish I could put other dishes in it, because I don't like feeding my cat from plastic dishes, but other than that, it's great. Had to buy another icepak from Amazon. My cat used to get me up in the middle of the night to eat, and because I don't feed her dry food, I would have to wake up and go downstairs in the middle of the night to give her some wet food, this feeder solves that problem! Plus if I go somewhere overnight and come back the next day, this feeder will provide 2 meals while I am gone. I love it!
