    I love this cat door

    By on

Got this door to replace the CM356 which we had for about 5 years and loved. It was the best $100 plus I've spent in a while so replacing it with this was a no-brainer. I did have to return this initially because the cat door wasn't shutting all the way but regardless, I expect the replacement will work just fine. And Chewy's CS didn't hesitate to ship out a replacement door plus a postage paid return label (with offer to have Fedx pick up at door). So I give high marks for this door and for Chewy. I recommend this door for anyone that wants to keep the non-resident critters out of the residence. I do agree with others that the programming and programming buttons are not the easiest. I am happy CM moved the Program button from the underside of the display screen to the top where all the other programming and controls are located but I don't think the buttons have to be flush with the screen, making them so difficult to press - raised buttons that are easier to use shouldn't cause an issue as there wouldn't be any interference with them. … more

Think twice before you place the order

I gave one star for the functions and 0 star for the quality. This flap claims it has In&Out, In, Out, and Lock modes, and activated by Microchip or I.D. But the reality is, when you use In&Out mode, not only your cat with Microchip can get in and go out, any animals can push the flap to get in and go out. This flap will be activated by Microchip or I.D. only when you use In only and Out only modes. But, why would you want your cat to go out but can't get in? Trust me, there is no misunderstanding. I wanted to keep the kittens indoor but let the adult cat to go in and out freely. But this flap failed me. Kittens ran out when I got home! So I wrote an email to the manufacturer. Others might too. 0 star for the quality. This flap stopped working after 6 weeks. None of the buttons worked. I took out the batteries, and waited overnight. It didn't work. I set it to factory mode and it didn't work. So I contacted the manufacturer. They asked me to ship it to them. They would repair it and ship it back to me. But they didn't know how long it was going to take. Fortunately, Chewy.com allowed me to return it. So I returned it and bought another cat door with only simple 4-way lock function. … more

    Works for us...

    By on

We bought this to keep our puppy out of the cat's litter box room. We replaced a regular flap door with this. I dropped 1 star because it would not consistently read my cats microchip so we had to go with a disc on her collar.....this, so far, is 100% and we no longer have a puppy eating kitty cookies! LOL! Customer service was wonderful and actually sent me the discs to try out..thanks JJ!

Expensive version of the magnet ones.

    By on

We bought this thinking we could program it separately for each cat. We have one who is allowed in and out and one who, is not allowed out but if he got out the people door it would be nice if he could come in. Unfortunately every cat has to have the same program. And now we have made the hole to fit this very expensive one and the one cat who is allowed to use it is used to it, so even though it did not last an entire year! we are buying another one. Once you get the batteries in (not so easy) and get it programmed (quite difficult to press the buttons--ours is in a very tight space and we have to actually take it out to do any of these things) it works fine for what it does. Hopefully it has a one year warranty. … more

    Perfect cat door

    By on

At first I was a little skeptical, since I read that some people complained about the microchip being too far down the back of their cat so that it didn’t work. The vet however guaranteed me that these devices are activated as soon as the microchip is in the proximity of the cat flap door. So I just went ahead and bought it, and it works perfectly. I had a cat flap door before, so it was not difficult for my cat to adjust to this one. I’ve had no other animals coming into the house anymore. Perfect!

Finally a door that my cat cannot figure out how to open whenever she wants!

    By on

I just want to mention something because it was not clear when I purchased this door. The locking mechanism is enclosed within the plastic door. This means that my super smart cat cannot access the little rods that lock the door and thus open it at will like the last 2 doors we had, YAY!!

Easy fit for my existing window door but...

    By on

Operating buttons are extremely hard to depress, they should make these with a more flexible material. Batteries are also difficult to insert. Programming does not always take initially, sometimes have to repeat it several times. Functions as described in manual do not always work.

    Cat Mate pet door

This is entirely too hard to program and get the cat to go through due to the noise it makes.

    A true godsend

    By on

We had been invaded by raccoons through our outer cat door flap into the garage. As long as they stayed in the garage we were able to cope, locking down the cat food bin with a suitcase strap and padlock, etc. But when they eventually found their way into our kitchen it became an emergency situation. Our cat would in no way tolerate a collar, so a cat flap opening with a collar was not an option. This cat flap door that opens with the cat’s own microchip is THE solution. It took about a week of fumbling - how to get the cat door programmed, how to get the door installed the right way around and how to manage the cat’s paranoia about the little buzzing noise when he got near the new flap. It now works beautifully, and we finally are free of any raccoon invasions. … more

    AMAZING!!!

    By on

I had originally purchased the door that requires a disk never thinking I would have him chipped. When he got neutered they did it for almost nothing. BOTH doors work perfectly!!! This one allows him the freedom of not wearing a collar, which makes him feel like a wild Kitty again!!! I can't say enough about both doors. If you are on the fence, take the chance and get it. It makes life SO much easier than being woken up at 3am to let a cat out!! I would recommend both doors 110%!!!
