My cat will tolerate a wet bath if needed if handled correctly but I know he enjoys being petted even if I have damp hands. As he is always shedding, wiping him down with a damp towel also removes excess hair. The only reason I want to wipe down his coat besides brushing him is to keep his coat healthy plus avoid him getting hairballs that he can't pass. This "dry" shampoo is really a wet solution of purified water, coconut water, glycerin, alcohol, Cocamidopropyl betaine, benzalkonium chloride, preservative, and fragrance. It smells like a lavender base scent. I suggest you follow the instructions and not use this product like you use your own hair product, in other words, don't go overboard, as you only need to damp-wipe the coat using a towel that you spray the solution on to. You don't want to soak the towel nor do you want to soak the cat's coat as the cat will be eventually licking off the excess left after you wipe with both the damp towel and the follow-up dry towel. Think of this "dry" shampoo as a hair serum for your cat's coat. You are not necessarily washing the coat but removing anything that has made the coat feel and look greasy or rough to feel. As my cat is a short-haired cat, I don't need to use this as often as a long-haired cat.
