Instructions

How to open:

  • Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.
  • Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.

How to apply:

  • Remove one applicator tube from the package.
  • Hold applicator tube in an upright position facing away from you and your pet’s face and eyes. Pull cap off tube.
  • Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.
  • Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.
  • Part the hair on the neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to expel the entire contents directly on the skin. Do not get this product in your cat’s eyes, or allow your cat to ingest this product. The product is bitter tasting and salivation may occur for a short time if the cat licks the product immediately after treatment. Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product. Do not allow the product to run off.
  • Discard empty tube.
  • Under normal conditions this product is effective for a month. However, in cases of severe flea infestation, retreatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks. Do not retreat more often than once every 14 days for kittens or once every 7 days for small and large cats. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Advantage Topical Solution and Advantage II?

We have added an insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen, to Advantage.

What is an insect growth regulator (IGR)?

An IGR, such as pyriproxyfen, inhibits the development of flea eggs. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.

How does pyriproxyfen work?

Pyriproxyfen mimics the juvenile growth hormone of fleas. This hormone prevents immature flea stages from molting into the next stage of the life cycle and keeps them from developing into adult fleas.

Why is it important to use a product with an IGR?

With an IGR as part of your flea control, the flea life cycle is disrupted at multiple stages through different active ingredients and modes of action. This is often referred to as integrated flea control (IFC). The addition of an IGR to Advantage II provides ovicidal, as well as additional larvicidal properties to target flea infestations and kill all flea life stages.

Is Advantage II waterproof?

Yes, there is no need to reapply the product after weekly swimming or a bath. For best results, use a non-detergent shampoo.

As soon as we realized our dog and cat had gotten fleas, we quickly went to researching what flea medicine was best to kill them before our home became infested. I knew some flea medicines were hit or miss, but Advantage II had such great reviews. We were so hopeful, so ready for our cat to be free from constant itching and biting and stress, but guess what? The medicine didn't work. Not even a little bit. And after dropping so much $$$$ on this flea medicine, we couldn't afford to buy a new brand that would fix our problem. Now our home is infested and our cat is miserable. We've tried it for over two months now and there is no improvement, only misery. • This works!

    By on

We were provided Advantage II at reduced cost when we adopted our two kittens from the local shelter. While they are no longer kittens, we have continued to use Advantage simply because it works. Our cats do not spend a lot of time outdoors, but we do have squirrels and other critters in the yard, so we need to stop infestations before they start. The "kittens" are now four and we have not had any flea problems at all. The only negative is the oil spot on their necks until the medicine dries fully. It doesn't bother one cat, but it really annoys the other one.

  • Works great!

I used to buy Paradyne from our vet which is quite expensive. This product is just as good. I accidentally bought the small cat drops because I thought my smallest cat was under 9 pounds, but she is 9.8 pounds! As with other products and food, I passed them along to my daughter who has 2 cats!

  • Advantage still the best

    By on

I have tried many other flea treatments for my cats, but I keep going back to the Advantage. I tried other products that were cheaper to save money, but with the auto ship program at Chewy.com, I can easily justify the expense. Because I am saving so much and this product works the best.

  • My Three Cats

    By on

Started using Advantage on 7-2-17. All 3 of my cats were biting and licking, although no fleas were detected. The flea medication was easy to use, even on my one cat who runs from everything. She wasn't even aware I applied it. The licking and biting stopped within the hour of application. All is well, since.

Chewy had the best price for the Advantage II. I have 5 cats and can count on Chewy each month to see that I always have flea protection for them. The shipping of the product was really fast. I am very pleased with this purchase.

  • FLEAS OUT!

    By on

First thing you need to know - if you have a lot of fleas it's going to take some time. You don't just have adult fleas, you have eggs and larvae that were there before you started the treatment. It's going to take about ten days before the life cycle of the flea is completely broken. You will notice an immediate reduction in scratching. You will need to vacuum, clean bedding, and so on. You can make a good flea repellent with essential oils of lavender, lemongrass, and eucalyptus in water. Spray it on everything, including yourself to keep the little bloodsuckers off until the life cycle is broken.

  • Kills fleas and is safe for nursing mothers.

We had 13 foster kittens that were infested with fleas. The shelter vet recommended this product because it was safe for nursing mothers. The fleas were gone within 24 hours and the mother's dose protected the kittens as well.

  • Product works, cats seemed fine.

I do not like using this sort of thing, but it works. Our indoor cat got fleas for some reason and a three month treatment is all I have to do to complete the fleas' cycle.
