How to open:

  • Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.
  • Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.

How to apply:

  • Remove one applicator tube from the package.
  • Hold applicator tube in an upright position facing away from you and your pet’s face and eyes. Pull cap off tube.
  • Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.
  • Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.
  • Part the hair on the neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to expel the entire contents directly on the skin. Do not get this product in your cat’s eyes, or allow your cat to ingest this product. The product is bitter tasting and salivation may occur for a short time if the cat licks the product immediately after treatment. Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product. Do not allow the product to run off.
  • Discard empty tube.
  • Under normal conditions this product is effective for a month. However, in cases of severe flea infestation, retreatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks. Do not retreat more often than once every 14 days for kittens or once every 7 days for small and large cats. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Advantage Topical Solution and Advantage II?

We have added an insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen, to Advantage.

What is an insect growth regulator (IGR)?

An IGR, such as pyriproxyfen, inhibits the development of flea eggs. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.

How does pyriproxyfen work?

Pyriproxyfen mimics the juvenile growth hormone of fleas. This hormone prevents immature flea stages from molting into the next stage of the life cycle and keeps them from developing into adult fleas.

Why is it important to use a product with an IGR?

With an IGR as part of your flea control, the flea life cycle is disrupted at multiple stages through different active ingredients and modes of action. This is often referred to as integrated flea control (IFC). The addition of an IGR to Advantage II provides ovicidal, as well as additional larvicidal properties to target flea infestations and kill all flea life stages.

Is Advantage II waterproof?

Yes, there is no need to reapply the product after weekly swimming or a bath. For best results, use a non-detergent shampoo.

I tried the Advantage II because of good ratings and the price. I have 4 cats .. 3 indoor cats and 1 who goes outdoors once in a while. They're all 4 scratching now and then so I'm wondering how effective it will be. Also maybe I didn't get it on them as well as I should have, so I'm gonna order it again.

I use this on my cats; outdoor and indoor and it works great; no fleas. If my cats get fleas, I will be the one bitten too! It's miserable! It's been very effective and I love the price. I shop around for the best price!

  • Great products!

I have always loved shopping with Chewy. Now that it has been bought out by Petsmart though, I will not be shopping here anymore. I have had more than one bad experience with them, and so have a lot of my friends. I am so disappointed!

  • Advantage Flea Treatment is GREAT!

    By on

I've used this product on six different cats over many years, and not one has ever had a problem with fleas. Even when any of them have been sitting on a white bed sheet for hours, there's no evidence of fleas at all. There are no side effects, either.. I apply it on the first of the month without fail, and I always feel secure in knowing that my cats are comfortable and flea-free.

  • Such a relief!

    By on

I was using a different product and suddenly it was no longer effective. I ordered the Advantage II and it arrived promptly. I treated my cats with it and within the first day no more scratching. I flea combed them the next day and was relieved to find only a dead flea or two. Terrific!!

  • Works great!

Applied Advantage on the back of my cat's neck as directed. Was pleased that it doesn't give off a very strong smell unless you stick it right up next to your nose (easier to sneak it onto my cat haha). As with any flea medication, my cat was not pleased once she felt the liquid on her skin but I was easily able to apply the whole dose. You're definitely going to want to let it dry though before touching your cat because it's rather greasy to the touch. Within the next few hours the fleas dropped dead onto her blanket. She has had no adverse reaction from the product either so it's a win-win! Will definitely restock once I run out in a few months.

My 3 indoor cats somehow got infested with fleas. I tried 2 other products before this one. Within hours the dead fleas started falling off and within a month they were all gone.

  • The Best

I recently got a cat from the SPCA. Unfortunately, she brought along a couple of friends of the flea variety. I had some Frontline that I had used one time on my previous cat (RIP) when I realized she wouldn't let me try to comb her - and it did NOTHING! I went online and did a search to see if there was something comparable to the K9 Advantix that I use on my dog - and thought I would give this a try! The cat flea treatment is as good and the flea and tick treatment I use for my dog. Now - if they could only find a way for me to apply it without getting her mad at me!
