Instructions

How to open:

  • Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.
  • Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.

How to apply:

  • Remove one applicator tube from the package.
  • Hold applicator tube in an upright position facing away from you and your pet’s face and eyes. Pull cap off tube.
  • Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.
  • Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.
  • Part the hair on the neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to expel the entire contents directly on the skin. Do not get this product in your cat’s eyes, or allow your cat to ingest this product. The product is bitter tasting and salivation may occur for a short time if the cat licks the product immediately after treatment. Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product. Do not allow the product to run off.
  • Discard empty tube.
  • Under normal conditions this product is effective for a month. However, in cases of severe flea infestation, retreatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks. Do not retreat more often than once every 14 days for kittens or once every 7 days for small and large cats. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Advantage Topical Solution and Advantage II?

We have added an insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen, to Advantage.

What is an insect growth regulator (IGR)?

An IGR, such as pyriproxyfen, inhibits the development of flea eggs. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.

How does pyriproxyfen work?

Pyriproxyfen mimics the juvenile growth hormone of fleas. This hormone prevents immature flea stages from molting into the next stage of the life cycle and keeps them from developing into adult fleas.

Why is it important to use a product with an IGR?

With an IGR as part of your flea control, the flea life cycle is disrupted at multiple stages through different active ingredients and modes of action. This is often referred to as integrated flea control (IFC). The addition of an IGR to Advantage II provides ovicidal, as well as additional larvicidal properties to target flea infestations and kill all flea life stages.

Is Advantage II waterproof?

Yes, there is no need to reapply the product after weekly swimming or a bath. For best results, use a non-detergent shampoo.

  • FLEAS OUT!

    By on

First thing you need to know - if you have a lot of fleas it's going to take some time. You don't just have adult fleas, you have eggs and larvae that were there before you started the treatment. It's going to take about ten days before the life cycle of the flea is completely broken. You will notice an immediate reduction in scratching. You will need to vacuum, clean bedding, and so on. You can make a good flea repellent with essential oils of lavender, lemongrass, and eucalyptus in water. Spray it on everything, including yourself to keep the little bloodsuckers off until the life cycle is broken.

  • Good for tiny cats

    By on

My husband and I really struggled to find flea medicine that would accomodate our tiny cat (6lbs) as we found that a lot of flea medicine started at 7lb or 8lb. I asked my vet and they said advantage was a safe brand so we're extremely happy. We haven't seen any fleas on our pets or in the house.

  • Still have fleas

I gave this to my 2 indoor cats who got a few fleas from my dog(who hasnt had fleas in a while now) and both of them still have fleas less than half a month later. Maybe the one I got was a dud, but I'm not happy with this product so far..

  • Flea infestation last year

    By on

As usual Chewy delivers fast and free. Have four outdoor Barn cats, and last year the fleas were the worst I have ever seen. We used advantage 2 on all the cats already. So far none of them seem to have fleas. Of course summer has just begun and only time will tell. Either way Chewy had the best prices and got it to me quickly. Thanks

  • Awesome product

This worked great for my cats. Gonna try the k9 stuff for the dog since this worked better than frontline did. Also, we received the product way sooner than expected.

  • Works on larger indoor cats, too

    By on

I have 9 indoor cats, and have to cut "cat expenses" where needed. I have tried numerous flea medications (including collars) and, for the dollar, this stuff, in my opinion, gives the best flea protection- even on our pair of 15 LB fluffy cats.

  • Works well

    By on

We haven't found any ticks or fleas so far, seems like it has done a good job. I know it doesn't really matter, but the packaging is nice too, everything is easy to open. It also comes with stickers to put on a calendar to help keep track of dates.
