Instructions

How to open:

  • Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.
  • Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.

How to apply:

  • Remove one applicator tube from the package.
  • Hold applicator tube in an upright position facing away from you and your pet’s face and eyes. Pull cap off tube.
  • Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.
  • Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.
  • Part the hair on the neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to expel the entire contents directly on the skin. Do not get this product in your cat’s eyes, or allow your cat to ingest this product. The product is bitter tasting and salivation may occur for a short time if the cat licks the product immediately after treatment. Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product. Do not allow the product to run off.
  • Discard empty tube.
  • Under normal conditions this product is effective for a month. However, in cases of severe flea infestation, retreatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks. Do not retreat more often than once every 14 days for kittens or once every 7 days for small and large cats. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Advantage Topical Solution and Advantage II?

We have added an insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen, to Advantage.

What is an insect growth regulator (IGR)?

An IGR, such as pyriproxyfen, inhibits the development of flea eggs. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.

How does pyriproxyfen work?

Pyriproxyfen mimics the juvenile growth hormone of fleas. This hormone prevents immature flea stages from molting into the next stage of the life cycle and keeps them from developing into adult fleas.

Why is it important to use a product with an IGR?

With an IGR as part of your flea control, the flea life cycle is disrupted at multiple stages through different active ingredients and modes of action. This is often referred to as integrated flea control (IFC). The addition of an IGR to Advantage II provides ovicidal, as well as additional larvicidal properties to target flea infestations and kill all flea life stages.

Is Advantage II waterproof?

Yes, there is no need to reapply the product after weekly swimming or a bath. For best results, use a non-detergent shampoo.

  • Worked for one, not for the other!

    By on

We have two Siamese cats. They are sisters and littermates. At almost age 16, for the first time in their lives, they got fleas. I purchased Advantage II for small cats (they are around 6.5 pounds each) and applied it as directed. One cat experienced relief, and has stopped scratching. Her sister, however, is still scratching away. I am going to call my vet to see what can be done for her. I really wish this that product had worked for them both, but it's very obvious that it didn't. While it's better than having both cats with fleas, I am disappointed that only one of them was helped.

  • superfast service but email promos are littering my inbox

I live in a very rural area and expected to wait a few days for my order to arrive. Very happy to have it delivered in less than 24 hours from ordering. I give the product and delivery 5 stars but am very annoyed with the number of promo emails I've gotten since ordering. Be aware that if you opt in for emails, you may need a bigger litter box. In the last 14 days I've received 12 promo emails from chewy.com. I don't mind getting a promo or two now and then but almost daily is pretty ridiculous. I have now unsubscribed. Hope that fixes it. I'm a now little gun shy about ordering again

  • Thank you advantage

As a first time cat owner I had no idea how stressful it can be. My poor babies suffered so bad with fleas for months. Both of them were almost completely bald. They were both covered with scabs and open wounds. They were hiding up on the boxes I have in my closet afraid to even come down to eat or use the litter box Both of them didn't respond to the other medications I bought. I tried the collars, Sargent's flea drops and every kind of carpet powder and shampoo I could find. One of my cats had a bad reaction to the other flea drops and was having seizures. I promised her I would never use any drops again. Someone suggested I try diatomaceous earth on my carpet that seemed to work great As a first time cat owner I had no idea how stressful it can be. I used too much and had my whole place covered in dust. Had to buy a new vacuum cleaner even. Killed all the fleas in the house but not on my babies. A friend of mine who has cats gave me two tubes of advantage one for each cat and in two days the itching stopped and now the cats are both walking around the house again. I was so stressed and couldn't sleep. I even considered putting them to sleep. I cried all the time. Thank you advantage for saving our lives. I am so happy. Will never do without again … more

  • Works great!!!

    By on

My cat was previously an indoor/outdoor cat. She would spend 8+ hours outside until her owners let her in for the night. When I picked her up that that night, she was scratching so much due to the fleas. Put Advantage on her, and you could slowly see the fleas falling off of her in about 30 min. The fleas were slowly dying and fortunately I don't see any fleas around my apartment. Definitely works!

  • Pretty much useless

After pre-bombing, then professional spraying and bombing for fleas. Done while my two cats were being bathed for fleas. Dosing both before they were brought back in, and redosed 2wks later they still have fleas. I live in a fifth floor apt no other pets on this floor and they do not go outside. Fixing to use the last two doses on them. Just for the hello of it. Would not recommend because it didn't kill fleas large or eggs evidently like it says.

  • No longer working

I've used this product for the last couple of years with great results on 8 indoor/ outdoor cats. This last time I bought it, it's not working. My vet says the fleas have built up a resistance to it. Cats were all itching again within a week of application. One had to go in for surgery and vet said he had fleas crawling all over him. This was exactly a week after I had applied the Advantage II.

  • Used for rabbits

    By on

We have two lop-eared rabbits that live outdoors and get walked in our yard on harnesses. Recently noticed a couple of fleas and had to research what was safe for bunnies to learn Advantage is recommended. (NOT frontline or advanTIX...so do your research or consult your Vet.!) I applied a half small cat dose of Advantage to each rabbit and have not seen any since and did get two dead ones out when brusing next day. Our rabbits are 6 & 10 lbs. Order came in about a day thanks to Chewy.com awsome ordering & delivery!

  • Did not work!

As soon as we realized our dog and cat had gotten fleas, we quickly went to researching what flea medicine was best to kill them before our home became infested. I knew some flea medicines were hit or miss, but Advantage II had such great reviews. We were so hopeful, so ready for our cat to be free from constant itching and biting and stress, but guess what? The medicine didn't work. Not even a little bit. And after dropping so much $$$$ on this flea medicine, we couldn't afford to buy a new brand that would fix our problem. Now our home is infested and our cat is miserable. We've tried it for over two months now and there is no improvement, only misery. • Quick and efficient

Within 10 minutes of applying product I began to see dead fleas falling off my two kittens. I am allergic to this product so I had to apply it then avoid the animals for two days but the flea control is well worth it. Planning to continue monthly treatments.
