How to open:

  • Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.
  • Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.

How to apply:

  • Remove one applicator tube from the package.
  • Hold applicator tube in an upright position facing away from you and your pet’s face and eyes. Pull cap off tube.
  • Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.
  • Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.
  • Part the hair on the neck at the base of the skull until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube to expel the entire contents directly on the skin. Do not get this product in your cat’s eyes, or allow your cat to ingest this product. The product is bitter tasting and salivation may occur for a short time if the cat licks the product immediately after treatment. Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product. Do not allow the product to run off.
  • Discard empty tube.
  • Under normal conditions this product is effective for a month. However, in cases of severe flea infestation, retreatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks. Do not retreat more often than once every 14 days for kittens or once every 7 days for small and large cats. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Advantage Topical Solution and Advantage II?

We have added an insect growth regulator, pyriproxyfen, to Advantage.

What is an insect growth regulator (IGR)?

An IGR, such as pyriproxyfen, inhibits the development of flea eggs. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.

How does pyriproxyfen work?

Pyriproxyfen mimics the juvenile growth hormone of fleas. This hormone prevents immature flea stages from molting into the next stage of the life cycle and keeps them from developing into adult fleas.

Why is it important to use a product with an IGR?

With an IGR as part of your flea control, the flea life cycle is disrupted at multiple stages through different active ingredients and modes of action. This is often referred to as integrated flea control (IFC). The addition of an IGR to Advantage II provides ovicidal, as well as additional larvicidal properties to target flea infestations and kill all flea life stages.

Is Advantage II waterproof?

Yes, there is no need to reapply the product after weekly swimming or a bath. For best results, use a non-detergent shampoo.

Advantage II Flea Treatment for Cats 5 lbs to 9 lbs & Ferrets is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 259.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from works right away, no side effects observed I started letting my cats outside. It wasn't long until they brought some critters in with them. I didn't use any product to prevent fleas as I wasn't sure how I felt about putting insecticide in my cats bodies. Very naïve! This product is easy to apply and I have not noticed any side effects. It started working right away (dead fleas on the bedspread the following morning). If you are buying this to treat fleas (not just prevention) you may need to apply more than once a month for a few months, not because the product doesn't work but because you'll have to battle the full life cycle of the pests which can make a home anywhere in your home. I noticed new fleas after the first three weeks of application (they were still dying but were hatching somewhere!). I have since applied two doses spaced two weeks apart which is safe according to the label (can apply again after seven days). My cats did not display any adverse side effects. I definitely recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best I recently got a cat from the SPCA. Unfortunately, she brought along a couple of friends of the flea variety. I had some Frontline that I had used one time on my previous cat (RIP) when I realized she wouldn't let me try to comb her - and it did NOTHING! I went online and did a search to see if there was something comparable to the K9 Advantix that I use on my dog - and thought I would give this a try! The cat flea treatment is as good and the flea and tick treatment I use for my dog. Now - if they could only find a way for me to apply it without getting her mad at me!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect, almost! No prescription needed! Wonderful. Kills and controls fleas. Yes. Good price on Chewy. Check. Easy to apply, sort of. Problem: does not absorb for about another 24 hours. I almost want to subtract two stars for this. It fully saturates the hair, the ENTIRE 24 hours. This is a complete negative. I'd recommend applying high, almost on the back of the head so they can't lick it. I'll keep buying it though. It's affordable. My cats are indoor only and my a hole neighbor does not care for his dog at all, so spreads fleas EVERYWHERE. Before I lived here I never even had to flea treat my cats. Be aware, no heartworm preventative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Applied Advantage on the back of my cat's neck as directed. Was pleased that it doesn't give off a very strong smell unless you stick it right up next to your nose (easier to sneak it onto my cat haha). As with any flea medication, my cat was not pleased once she felt the liquid on her skin but I was easily able to apply the whole dose. You're definitely going to want to let it dry though before touching your cat because it's rather greasy to the touch. Within the next few hours the fleas dropped dead onto her blanket. She has had no adverse reaction from the product either so it's a win-win! Will definitely restock once I run out in a few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works and fast I could not believe that and indoor cat who is the only animal could get fleas but she did. It has been two years since a dog lived in this house and we have had one or two dogs visit but that was in the summer and we saw her scratching and the fleas in NOvember. Thank goodness for this product and I'm a believer/

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost of Product I always use this product and highly recommend the product. I thought that perhaps by purchasing it through Chewy, that I might get a better price for the item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works this product works, almost immediate results. but be aware of this, I have multiple cats, and their reaction varies, have used this product before and the reaction spectrum is always there. some cats, never know that anything was done except no scratching. some cats "get down" for a short while, (day), and one of mine was sluggish for two days. So NEVER get a large size for a medium cat thinking that a more is better, it is not, But bottom line is the treatment actually lasts longer than advertised, so I would wait until its obvious that they need treating again. On the lighter side, some cats know what is happening after you do it the first time, Got one tom that shoots the gap as soon as he ralizes that I am going to get the back of his neck wet with the treatment, and after its run jump anything to get away from that wet feeling. His brother, no big deal.
