Rated 3 out of 5 by CatLady305 I am down the middle with this one.
I have a year old cat and a 9 year old cat and a few year old feral-turned pet. He doens't look twice, the kitten doesn't look twice, and the older cat just freaks out because i sprinkled some catnip on it.
It comes with a tiny baggie of catnip but no instructions on what to DO with it. There is no "holder" that I can see. It's just the cardboard center which the older cat goes crazy sniffing and scratching, and sitting on, after I sprinkle it with catnip.
For all 3 of my cats the ball may as well not exist. My kitten eyed it when I first swatted it, but then decided not to investigate.
This is also a bit loud, as it has nothing to keep it in place. It slides all over the tile floor - it's quite lightweight -- nothing to keep it sturdy. Little rubber gripper on the bottom or non skid pads would improve the design. With pets, we don't use rugs. Not sure that would do much good but would probably help.
I hope they would play with the ball but they only care about the catnip smell. I'm still glad we have it to give our older cat something else to scratch on, she is big on scratching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AllisonK Fun to watch your cat play with!
These kind of toys seem to be really popular so I decided to buy one. This one is nice because the little ball has LED lights and stops flashing when it's not played with. This keeps my cat really entertained and I like watching him play with it. I often join in on the fun and we pass the ball pack and forth to each other. The only down sides are he doesn't scratch the disc in the middle, he kind of just lays on it and sometimes he likes to play with the toy while we are trying to sleep which can be a little annoying. But overall, he loves it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ayviah My ball was defective!
Pulled the tap and made it go around the track a few time but the ball wasn't lighting up. My cat still played with it so I guess it's not a complete bust. I know there is a version of this that comes with an average ping pong ball that doesn't light up but I got this specifically for the light up option and it's not even working it. I am disappointed but Chewy's has the best price. I bought one at Petco for thirty dollars after tax when I saw Chewy's had it for fourteen. I immediately returned my Petco one. I guess I can always buy a replacement ball. Even with the new replacement ball, Chewy's price beats the store bought one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ziutab Great toy!
My kitten loves this toy, she plays with it about 1-2 minutes at a time, but very often throughout the day. She gets a lot of "workout" from it too! My senior cat doesn't play with it but still loves to just lay her princess butt in the center. I gave it 5 starts because although used differently, both my cats use this toy.

The cat loves it and so do the dogs. The lights are motion activated which add to the stimuli. I don't let the dogs play with it however because they can remove the ball but they love to watch it. It keeps the cat busy and the family can play along as well.
