Description

Blue Buffalo Naturally Fresh Multi-Cat Quick-Clumping Cat Litter offers pet parents incredible odor control and long-lasting absorbency. It's so absorbent, it takes less litter to get the job done, which means each bag goes a lot farther and less is wasted. Made from a proprietary blend of the fibrous materials found in the walnut shell, this litter neutralizes litter box odors better than clay, pine and wheat. It produces harder clumps than pine, corn and wheat in as little as 15 minutes, making clean-up simple and mess-free. Unlike clay litters which throw off silica dust, Blue's Naturally Fresh is virtually dust-free so you and your cat can breathe easy. And because it doesn’t stick to your cat’s paws, it won’t be tracked throughout your house.

I have 5 cats and live in a rural area without trash pickup. The main reason I switched to this litter is because it is flushable or compostable. We were tired of storing used clay and then hauling the heavy bags to the dump. I was a little concerned about switching to a natural litter after reading some of the mixed reviews but figured we had to try something. This litter is great! I use it in sifting litter boxes and have had no problems. I sift it into a dedicated bucket with lid and when that is full, I dump it into the compost bin. It clumps well, I have had no issues with odor, and all of my cats have transitioned well to it. • The Best Litter ever

This litter is by far any litter I found until I found this wonderful product at Chewy.com! I began to have problems with my cat after getting a 5 yr. old small dog who chases him out of where I am. Very territorial of me. So my cat who will be 6 in Aug. which he never ever pooed out of his extra large box, he did use it to pee but, was pooing just outside his box...I clean it daily so that wasn't his problem, he did not like the natural pine not to mention how po-ed about the dog!!!...This litter is dark brown, looks like lg. ground coffee beans. MY BOY LOVES IT AND IS NOW IS MY PURR-FECT BOY

  • So far very impressed

I'll start off by saying I've used corn and clay litter this is my first try at nut based litters. I have two cats and two cat boxes one at the base of the stairs and one in my bedroom. My usual brand is arm and hammer naturals corn or arm and hammer clump and seal. Every litter I've used tracks to some degree, I don't notice it on my carpet like clay litter and there's nothing on my bed thankfully (clay litter was constantly on my bed.) The odor control works great for me, my young male recently had very horrible diarrhea which I would smell when he went to the bathroom (always in my bedroom) but once it was covered the smell was gone. I took a gamble on getting this it was on sale at the time I'll start off by saying I've used corn and clay litter this is my first try at nut based litters. My only real complaint is that sometimes when I scoop it makes my nose itchy but doesn't seem to bother the cats at all and to be fair I haven't had any of my allergy medication in a while and my allergies are horrible. I bought another bag last night to have on hand though I don't think I'll need it soon I scoop twice a day everyday and add litter as needed. I do full changes once a month (with clay litter it was usually more often because of all the stuck litter at the bottom.) So far very very happy with this product. … more

  • Best cat litter for blind cats.

    By on

I had problems with the clay litter when my cat lost her sight. The walnut-based litter seems to absorb faster. She can't see to bury her waste so I was always coming home to clay cat litter prints on the hardwood floors . As everyone knows that stuff is like cement when it dries. Haven't had any problems at all with the walnut-based litter. Much easier to clean out the litter box to. Bonus is having it delivered to my door and it's less expensive on auto ship.

  • Uck, dust EVRYWHERE!

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I have been completely satisfied with SmartCat litter but I'm always on the prowl for something less expensive. I notice that my brother was using this litter for his cats so I decided to try it. Well, can I just say that I didn't finish the whole bag? I gave him the rest of the bag. Not even 24 hours into using it, the whole bathroom floor, baseboards, and counters were covered in brown dust from the litter. It is extremely light-weight so tracking is inevitable. Clumping was almost non-existent; it would just crumble and fall back into the litter box! The carpet leading in/ out of the bathroom was soiled with the walnut litter! This product can also stain your carpet, floors, and walls.

I can not stress the benefits of using this product over traditional cat litters with silica dust and chemicals. Its amazing that this simple product is so perfect for all pets with delicate respiratory systems not just cats. Is a environmentally friendly and safe pet product. Super awesome product! When you open the bag there is no odor to speak of. It pours out quickly and has a dark chocolate color and granules that remind you of granola cereal. NO Dust!!! Is fine texture and would not cause any problems with sensitive paws. Clumps nicely for easy waste removal. I received these goodies free of charge from Chewy.com in an exchange for my honest review but will happily purchase this I can not stress the benefits of using this product over traditional cat litters with silica dust and chemicals. • Best. Cat. Litter. Ever.

    By on

This is biodegradable, clumps quickly and tightly, has a low dust factor, and is super lightweight. Our cats track a little bit out of the box which looks like ground coffee on the floor, but at least you know it's just Walnut shells. This IS an expensive litter, but Chewy.com has the cheapest price by far and you do end up using less than traditional clay litter so it will be worth it in the end for both your wallet and your cats health.

  • Didn't love it at first

When trying to switch to a new litter, it is always recommended that you mix your current litter with some of the new. When I did this, mixing Tidy Cats with the Blue Buffalo, the amount of dust from the combination of the two was three times what I had ever experienced. It was repulsive. I was convinced that people were crazy and the Blue Buffalo wasn't going to last long in my house. Well, once I changed the litter to all Blue Buffalo, I realized that somehow, the ridiculous dust was caused by the combination of the two litters. Don't ask me how, but I don't have the problem anymore. I have 5 cats. I have 4 boxes upstairs and one in the basement. In each room, I have one box of regular litter and the other is the Blue Buffalo. I'm still in the experimental stages to make sure none of the cats are offended by the new stuff and make the choice to not use a box at all. So far, there seems to be about equal usage of the new versus the old. As far as smell goes, I haven't had any problems. I think it does as well as the Tidy Cats, but without the offensive perfume smell. It clumps differently than the clay, but I don't think it's "worse", just different. I love how much lighter the BB is and it definitely doesn't track nearly as much as the clay. I'm happy with this stuff. … more

  • Love Blue Buffalo Litter

    By on

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Blue Buffalo's litter. I didn't think I would like the walnut-based litter but it is awesome. It clumps better than the leading brand and no odor for a long time. Just a quick tip: If you are going to change and begin to use the walnut-based litter, add it in gradually with the litter you are currently using. Some cats need to get used to it as it is different. But, I think you will love it. And, I can't say enough about Chewy.com. Their the best!!!!!

  • Dissapointing

    By on

I had high hopes for this. I like the idea of 'recycled' products for cat litter. While it is low dust and better for the environment than something like clay, I found it performs poorly. It doesn't clump well, mostly it breaks into tiny bits that can't be scooped, and worst of all the smell is NAUSEATING. This isn't the usual litterbox smell. The litter itself has an awful smell when it's been used at all. I might just be extra sensitive to it. But blech. It's enough to make me switch to something else.
