We have 4 indoor only boys - and we have tried everything under the sun in the way of litter for them. We are concerned about a smaller overall footprint, as well as receiving the same benefits of clay litter, without paying an arm and a leg.
We tried the Naturally Fresh by Blue Buffalo - and oh my! What a difference! Not only is it biodegradable, there is virtually no dust, no odor, clumps fast - and the cats don't mind it one bit. It's amazing! And a decent price! We tried corn-based products, but they tend to over-fragrance it, and recently read an article about a mold situation in damp climates.
I would have to say, the only downside is the tracking of this litter. But it's not bad. A large mat under the boxes tends to keep a handle on it. That and the fact that it's NOT tiny rocks of clay, and it's really okay with me!
We love it and can't believe the clumping action! Excellent product and amazing price point!
Thanks Blue Buffalo!!

Omg...this product is great! I have two cats(kittens)that are little over 2months old. When we got them there girls and twins at that they seemed to be potty trained but it turned out just my sister's cat was mine didn't like the letters I had for her(by the way mine is the oldest). So id been looking around to see what might work cuz my cat probably is potty trained but like I said she hated the litter so she refused to use it and then turn she pooped and peed it all over the floor in my room and in the bathroom right in front of her litter box! But once i got that litter and introduced her to it she loved it!! It was amazing she loved the smell and went and did her business right then and there!and whats even better is that she seemed eager to do it again the second and third time so wasn't just the fact that she needed to go but she actually wanted to go!so hopefully it means that shes gunna do it again in the future! i honestly just cant put into words how happy and thankful i am for this product and how many benefits it has!i am buying this product again!thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CrazyCatLady54 Clumps great, keeps odors down.
A friend's cat developed a terrible skin condition that was, eventually -- after many trips to several vets, determined to be caused by the clay, clumping litter my friend was using. That made me read up on clay, clumping litters and I was shocked and appalled to see the horrible, caustic additives. I tried a lot of alternative litters that either didn't clump well or didn't control odors until I found Blue Buffalo Walnut Litter. I love it. My cats love it. Best of all, it isn't harming my furbabies health. :)

One of my senior cats began EATING the cat litter last month. Dr. E has been our household litter for years, and most folks know how dangerous it is to ingest clumping litters. So I immediately locked up the Dr. E in a bathroom and went on the hunt. The leading wheat, corn and pine pellet litters were all resoundingly rejected. I ordered BB Naturally Fresh, fingers crossed. SO: It has a weird, sharp, crunchy texture - sounds like the cats are walking around in a barrel of Grapenuts. It is not a good clumper. The dark dust people have complained about settles to the bottom and seems to do the clumping. But there is a sweet spot. Try to scoop pee too soon and you have a wet mess. Wait too long and it dries out and simply crumbles. Well, it crumbles anyway, even with a gentle scoop-and-shake. It does have an odor, but kind of forest-floorish, not awful. Luckily we have dark brown hardwood, so the tracking doesn't show too badly. If only they would use it! Unfortunately, only two of them will, and only in emergencies. They all wait for me to let them into the locked Dr. E room. I have altered my schedule to accommodate this, and have to watch the litter-eater like a hawk (yes we have visited the vet - she thinks it's dementia). Actually, occasionally he eats BBNF, too - but promptly vomits it up on the nearest area rug. One thing I love about this litter is how light it is. Lifting Dr. E about breaks my back. Also appreciate that (except for the solid waste) BBNF is compostable. Even as TOO expensive as it is, I would permanently switch to this litter if my cats would cooperate. Maybe yours will like it.

This is by far the best litter we've tried. There is no dust and no odor! Cats are happy with it too:)

Rated 4 out of 5 by CS1217 Best Natural Litter
We've used this litter for years. It generally clumps well, cuts down on odors, and is significantly less dusty than clay litter. There's no added scent in this formula, so fewer allergies for the cats and for us. We've tried many brands of litter (natural and traditional clay) and we always come back to this one. We have three cats who share one very large box and a 26lb bag lasts us about a month. The only time there's ever very noticeable odor is during the times when we push the limits on fully cleaning the box. We find that we can go 10-14 days between full changes (adding additional litter when it's low and doing spot cleans on the box itself as needed).
The only problem with this litter is that while it's significantly less dusty than other brands, the dust that it does wind up settling around the litter area is dark brown. It's easy enough to clean up and I have found no litter within this price range that is entirely dust free. (Only that the lighter colored dust is not as noticeable.)
