Feeding Instructions

If fed solely, feed one 5.5 oz can of CANIDAE All Life Stages per 8 lbs of cat’s body weight. Kittens may need up to twice the amount for the same body weight and nursing mothers up to three times. Fresh water should be available at all times.

Transition Instructions

CANIDAE® All Life Stages cat food formulas contain more meat and less carbohydrates than most other brands. While a higher meat to carbohydrate ratio provides a healthier diet, those pets who are used to eating a different diet will transition easier if the old food and new food are mixed together at varying ratios for a short time. We recommend a 7 day transition period to smoothly make the switch as gentle as possible on your pet’s digestive system. You can increase the transition time if your dog or cat is particularly sensitive to menu changes.

Days 1 & 2: 25% CANIDAE®, 75% Previous Brand Days 3 & 4: 50% CANIDAE®, 50% Previous Brand Days 5 & 6: 75% CANIDAE®, 25% Previous Brand Days 7 & on: 100% CANIDAE®

When transitioning slowly is not possible, feed smaller portions more regularly. We suggest breaking up the daily intake to 3 to 4 feedings per day. Adding warm water to the food will also decrease the chance of your pet eating too quickly and not chewing thoroughly. Gulping a highly palatable product could cause vomiting. If at any time during the transition, your pet experiences gastro-intestinal upset, keep the ratio of new to old food the same for several days. This will allow time to adjust to the new ratio before you incorporate more of the new food. In the event you are not transitioning with your old food, withhold food for 1 day and then start re-introducing 3 to 4 feedings per day mixed with warm water. All other treats and supplements should be withheld until fully transitioned. You may notice a change in the appearance of your pet’s stool even after the transition period. This can often be a result of a change in the amount of fiber and protein in the new diet and is normal

  • Great Quality

    By on

My cat is 20 years old and this is the ONLY food he's had ZERO problems with. It has a variety of good quality food inside and vitamins. He was getting pretty thin and has put on some weight in a month. He didn't like it the first day but I honestly think its because its not stinky like other cat food brands. I would suggest giving it a chance. Once he tried it he loved it! In fact, I cannot my other cat and my dog wait for him to finish to fight over who can lick the bowl. lol!

  • cats refuse to eat this food

    By on

The recipe or quality control for this food has changed. First one, then the other two cats ate it reluctantly, then ate it partially, then skipped meals entirely. One licked his "leg pit" compulsively when he did eat. Switched brands and all is back to normal. I would award no stars if possible.

  • Good food but

My cats are 15 yrs. old and their tastes have changed. I wanted to get them back to eating healthier food. Although this is a good brand and the ingredients are good, both my cats wouldn't eat it. I sill would recommend that other customers try it because every cat is different.

  • Cats may not like this

    By on

Both of my cats I've been feeding this to won't eat it, if they do eat any it is very little but almost any other wet food I give them they love so I'm not sure why they don't like this one.. it's a lot of food to buy and if they don't like it then it becomes a waste of food so maybe buy one can at the store to make sure they like it first before buying the whole case!

I am sure this is wonderful cat food, and my 3 ate it at first, but soon tired of it. I bought 2 flavors so this wouldn't happen, but it did.

  • okay food...

My cats eat it but usually don't finish all of it. They especially don't like it as well after it has been in the fridge.

  • Great nutrition, but must not taste that good

    By on

Like a lot of other reviewers, I have multiple cats that were iffy about the taste. My cats switch brands and flavors of dry and wet food all the time and usually eat anything, but they do usually walk away from the bowl when this is in it. Luckily for me, they will eat it if I add pet food seasoning to it, so my decision to stockpile a few packs of cans during a sale wasn't all bad. But just be wary--many nonpicky cats seem to be less than enthused about the taste.

  • Kitten doesn't like

    By on

I bought this for my 3 1/2 mo old kitten. She is a grazer and kind of selective when it comes to wet food. She doesn't seem to care for this one.
