Feeding Instructions

If fed solely, feed one 13 oz can of CANIDAE All Life Stages per 16 lbs of cat’s body weight. Kittens may need up to twice the amount for the same body weight and nursing mothers up to three times. Fresh water should be available at all times.

Transition Instructions

CANIDAE® All Life Stages cat food formulas contain more meat and less carbohydrates than most other brands. While a higher meat to carbohydrate ratio provides a healthier diet, those pets who are used to eating a different diet will transition easier if the old food and new food are mixed together at varying ratios for a short time. We recommend a 7 day transition period to smoothly make the switch as gentle as possible on your pet’s digestive system. You can increase the transition time if your cat is particularly sensitive to menu changes.

Days 1 & 2: 25% CANIDAE®, 75% Previous Brand Days 3 & 4: 50% CANIDAE®, 50% Previous Brand Days 5 & 6: 75% CANIDAE®, 25% Previous Brand Days 7 & on: 100% CANIDAE®

When transitioning slowly is not possible, feed smaller portions more regularly. We suggest breaking up the daily intake to 3 to 4 feedings per day. Adding warm water to the food will also decrease the chance of your pet eating too quickly and not chewing thoroughly. Gulping a highly palatable product could cause vomiting. If at any time during the transition, your pet experiences gastro-intestinal upset, keep the ratio of new to old food the same for several days. This will allow time to adjust to the new ratio before you incorporate more of the new food. In the event you are not transitioning with your old food, withhold food for 1 day and then start re-introducing 3 to 4 feedings per day mixed with warm water. All other treats and supplements should be withheld until fully transitioned. You may notice a change in the appearance of your pet’s stool even after the transition period. This can often be a result of a change in the amount of fiber and protein in the new diet and is normal.

  • My fosters hate it

    By on

I have tried a couple different flavors of Canidae, it seems like a decent food and I was hoping that my foster cats would enjoy it, but only a few will even touch it. I throw more of it away, than gets eaten. I have even tried mixing it with other wet food and still won't touch it. Very disappointed.

  • Great Food! My Senior Kitty Loves It

    By on

My cat is 20 years old- very few teeth and has tummy issues. This can and Canidae's green cat are the only foods he can eat. The quality is great- lots of variety of real food inside!

  • Only food my cat won't eat

Sadly my glutton of a kitty won't touch this. Passing it on to a friend and hopefully her kitty will like it!

  • cats tired of taste

    By on

After review and a test can, my cats seemed to like this food and had no digestive issues. However, once the can was opened, they quickly rejected the second day serving, even when the can was resealed and refridgerated (then warmed). Had to give up on this food when even my "always hungry" cat refused to eat. I was too eager for the cats to like this--my fault.

  • Wasn't a hit at my house

    By on

Out of 3 cats, only one of them ate some of this cat food. And he was just doing it to be polite. I really wanted this food to be a hit with them. This is one of the dwindling brands of cat food you can still get in a large (regular) 13 ounce can. This way, one can is enough to feed all my cats. Unfortunately, every brand seems to be jumping on the "small plate" bandwagon and only offering cat food in cans that are 3 ounces or less. It's a shame.

  • Mushy food

Cat was not thrilled with this food. She is a young cat and will eat about anything, but didn't care for this food, so basically waited for her to be real hungry to eat. Will not be getting this food again.

  • Great food

I am so happy my cats like this food. Cats being finicky is always a problem. I'm happy to be feeding them a good meal.

  • My cats love this!

    By on

I bought this product because I wanted a great food source for my 17 yr old cat who had started not wanting to eat. I wanted a cat food that ingredients I knew. With him being 17, I think he just got bored with the dry kibble amd I think it is hard for him eat. He took to this product like crazy! He is even starting to play again. I have two other cats that are 7 yrs in age with food sensitives and its no big deal if they get a chance to snag the 17yrs old food, because of the high level of ingredients. Since feeding my oldest this food he has energy to play with the younger ones again. Most importantly he wants to eat and gets excited when I get his feeding dish out. Love this product! • 3 out of 4 say, no way

    By on

I bought one can from the local shop and they loved it. Now that I have a case, only one will eat it. I will mix some Friskies with it and they will have a little. Another time I will mix their probiotic in and they will have a little. I was hoping our hyperthyroid cat would like it, but no, not plain, and not even when it is mixed with anything.
