This used to be all of my cats' favourite food - it was filling and they liked the chunks of chicken. Once it switched to being just the chunks in fluid instead of in something more like a pate, they were acting starved within two hours... not just the greedy one, even my finicky princess cat. I thought maybe it was the weather or they needed more attention, because cats are like that but I didn't think Castor and Pollux would do me like this. Then my cats started to lose weight. My cats are a carefully maintained perfect weight, and I am very, very unhappy about this recipe change situation. I am going to stop buying any Castor and Pollux products.

  • Waste of money

Chewy ran out of the canned food I usually serve to my oversized clowder, and so the operator who called to inform me of that suggested more Organix, since there was one case already in my order because I wanted to try it. I should have stuck to trying only one flavor, but I went out on a limb and switched all four cases out for this new brand. The first time I put it out some of them nibbled at it. But after that, it simply doesn't get eaten. I have 40 cats, there are one or two who will go around and clean up a couple of plates, but for the most part it is completely wasted. Forty cats is a pretty good test group, and the food utterly failed. Forty cats is a pretty good test group, and the food utterly failed. I'm loathe to be negative about anything that is the product of someone else's hard work because I know the company is sincere and appreciate any company that strives to create a grain-free cat food. But the only thing I can say about it, with regrets and apologies to the company, is that I'm very disappointed in it and won't buy it again. (This is no reflection whatsoever on Chewy or their operator, it was my decision to take the leap with Organix, and I will continue to always order from Chewy because of their integrity and the convenience of their superlative website, free shipping and the fact that they deliver right to my door. Chewy always gets an A+++.) … more

  • Inconsistant

For a while this product was mostly gravy with chicken chunks, not shredded chicken. At this time the chewy.com site had info from the company explaining the product was going through a change and the product might vary during the change. The site did not specify when the change will be complete or what the consistency of the "new" product will be like. My cats do not stay full on their daily recommended amounts when the food is mostly gravy and chicken chunks. I have to feed them more, resulting in needing more food delivered earlier than the normal autoship date. For a while (3-4 months) the cans came full with more solid food and less gravy. Since reading the statement from the company about the food changing months before, I figured the change had taken place and this was how the food would be. They remained full on their daily recommended amounts and I didn't need to order earlier than my next scheduled delivery. My most recent delivery is back to soupy gravy with chicken chunks. I feel I'm being cheated with the extra water weight from the gravy and lack of consistency. I think the Organix company owe us customers an update/more info. … more

  • Only wet food my cat will eat

    By on

My cat is 9 months old and has always preferred dry food to wet after she was weaned off milk but she LOVES this food. We tried Ziwi, Wellness, Merrick and a few others and she would mostly pick at it. She scarfs this food down twice a day. Its the best quality food I can find that she would actually eat so were both happy.

  • Inconsistent product

    By on

I will echo Joy3's review. Two of the last three cases we purchased were mostly gravy/water, with about half of each watery can full of cubed chunks of chicken. When I first started buying this stuff, the cans were mostly full of solid food, and our cat loved it. It was the same cubed chicken but you could scoop it out with a fork, and there was a lot more actual food in each can. I don't know if they have a quality control problem, or they just changed the gravy-to-solids mix to cut corners or make more money. Either way, we'll probably have to find another food our cat likes. I can't keep spending money on cans full of gravy.

  • Organix Shredded Chicken

    By on Top 500 Contributor

Three cats--none like it--even the cat who would eat anything, is not fond of it. Chicken didn't seem to be shredded--more of a wet pate.

  • Love organic!

    By on

My cat is VERY finicky and I can get him to eat this cat food. I wanted good, grain free organic food. He will only eat shredded wet and has to have gravy. I add water to make the gravy, works great. I just wish there were more proteins to choose from.

  • Small like multivitamin.

The smell is very strong. I guest the taste is bad because my cats do not like it . They smell it and they walk away. They do not touch the food.

  • The chicken isn't shredded. It's cubed.

    By on

My cats don't like it. They won't eat it unless I mix it with their favorite food. The food I've been feeding them for over 3 years, went up over $5.00 per case of 12 2.8 oz. cans. That's a substantial hike all at one time, and I can no longer afford it. Now I have to try to find a less expensive alternative for them, and I'm quite disappointed in the Castor and Pollux shredded chicken. So are they.
