Description

Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Senior Litter absorbs urine and odor on contact and traps it inside the crystals to keep a cat’s genital area clean to help prevent urinary tract infections. It’s small particle size and dust fines also coat and dehydrate cat feces to reduce odor. Precious Cat Senior is cleaner and hypo-allergenic, as it contains no organic material such as wheat, pine, corn and paper litters. Each bag contains a free Litter Box Solutions Booklet.

Key Benefits

  • Helps prevent kidney failure and urinary tract infection
  • Small particle and dust fines coat and dehydrate feces
  • Traps urine and odor on contact inside crystals
  • Biodegradable — when put in a compost pile or landfill, the material completely biodegrades back to the earth in one month
  • Non-toxic

Cautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after waste removal. A parasite sometimes found in cat feces can cause toxoplasmosis. Please do not flush cat litter in toilets or dispose of it outdoors in gutters or storm drains.

Special Note

Some products are changing from bags to boxes. You may receive either packaging until the transition is complete, but rest assured that you are receiving the same great litter!

Transition Instructions

  • Pour Dr. Elsey's Senior into a clean litter box, using half as much as you would with a clay based litter. Top off the Senior with the litter you are using now, mixing as you add.
  • Give your cat time to get used to the crystal texture.
  • Once your cat is used to the crystal texture (about one week), empty the litter box completely into the trash, and refill with Dr. Elsey's Senior.

Instructions

  • Pour one inch of Dr. Elsey's Senior into a clean litter box.
  • Remove solid waste daily and rake crystals to ensure freshness. Litter does not form scoopable clumps.
  • A single litter box filled with Dr. Elsey's Senior can handle multiple cats but we recommend using more than one litter box if you have more than one cat.

  • Refill with one inch of Dr. Elsey's Senior.

  • Extremely dusty.

I just purchased this product in hopes it would help my senior, arthritic cat. She now sits on the litter because she can't squat easily, the R&R litter sticks to her bottom and tale. She also has allergies (been using Dr. Elsey's R&R) . OMG I couldn't believe the cloud of dust when I carefully (I read about the dust) filled her litter box. What a disappointment. I'm sure my old gal isn't going to be happy with the dust and she is a dedicated digger. I'll see what happens but I have my doubts. The R&R appears to have changed formulas because it is much more crunchy than it was and now this stuff has a major dust problem. • Best litter I have tried...

    By on

... and I've tried them all! If you follow the directions this works very well at containing odor. And it will last, but you have to read and follow the directions. This litter is different than most other litters out there. I love that I don't have to scoop clumps (yuck!). The crystals absorb the urine, and the odor. Just rake through it once or twice a day; quick and easy. You use less than other litters. And it is so light compared to other litters; easy to handle the box and a full litter box. There is very little tracking. Yes, there is a bit of dust but it's not bothersome.

  • Perfect for Senior Cats

    By on

Our two senior cats (over 14 yrs) were urinating outside of the box. After getting thorough examination from the vet and determining no physical cause for this bad behaviour, we switched the litter to Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Senior. The old cats and young ones, too, love it. No more problem with urination around the house. The litter is expensive and doesn't clump very well. But I'll pay the price and manage to shovel it up into the litter trash bin. It doesn't really stink, either. Good odour control.

  • not as dusty as expected

    By on

We are one senior and two longhaired siamese, 2 with anxiety litterbox issues, one with history of UTI and we are doing well with a mixture of the Dr Elsey's Senior and the Long Haired crystals. We have a great microfiber litter mat from Chewy and there is zero tracking. We'd give it 5 stars but our human does not find the odor control more impressive than old clumping, lightweight litter. But longhaired male with 'neurotic colitis' is using the box and not the mat so the human is happy.

  • Don't take a chance...

I love Dr Elsey's cat attract litter and their regular clumping litter is a solid classic product. However, this litter is a gimmick I'm afraid. :( I was really disappointed. I took a chance on it because I have a 17yr old kitty with chronic renal disease so she is urinating a lot. She lives in my bedroom so I was trying to control the urine smell and quantity...this litter needed to be tossed a couple days after I put in box because it doesn't clump the urine at all so ...yuck. Maybe if it was clumping it would be better? I also hated the way it tracked everywhere. ALL litter tracks, but this one just freaked me out for some reason. Little sharp urine coated shards in my bed...everywhere...Ew I love Dr Elsey's cat attract litter and their regular clumping litter is a solid classic product. • Does what it's supposed to

    By on

i like this stuff. My 5 cats approve as well. It does track like all litters but doesn't stick to my cats' fur or paws. It does work very well for odor. I want to point out that people were frustrated that it doesn't clump the urine - at first I was too until I read the instructions. It's not supposed to. At any rate, I'm sticking with this stuff & am very happy I tried it :)

  • super dusty

    By on

This was my first try with silica litter. This stuff seemed so easy to use at first, scoop poops and stir. But omg is it dusty and it tracks horribly! It absorbed urine very well but did nothing for fecal odor. It was so stinky i just dumped it out after two weeks and went back to clumping clay. I only had one cat using the box btw!

  • New product

    By on

On the advice of my Son who had an elderly feline I switched to this product from BB. So far I love the clean up and no smell. What I haven't figured out yet is the cost because you change the whole litter box more frequent than my other product. It surely saves time with the clean up.

  • Cat litter

    By on

Just switched to Senior Litter from paper litter. Dr. Elsey's is by far the best! Very little smell , cat adapted well, very easy to clean the box, and don't have to load 25 lb. packages of litter into my car.

  • so far so good

She stopped pooping outside the litter box for a few days and I'd count that as a major success. There also seem to be signs of digging and covering which is positive. I wish it came in a bigger box.
