Description

Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Senior Litter absorbs urine and odor on contact and traps it inside the crystals to keep a cat’s genital area clean to help prevent urinary tract infections. It’s small particle size and dust fines also coat and dehydrate cat feces to reduce odor. Precious Cat Senior is cleaner and hypo-allergenic, as it contains no organic material such as wheat, pine, corn and paper litters. Each bag contains a free Litter Box Solutions Booklet.

Key Benefits

  • Helps prevent kidney failure and urinary tract infection
  • Small particle and dust fines coat and dehydrate feces
  • Traps urine and odor on contact inside crystals
  • Biodegradable — when put in a compost pile or landfill, the material completely biodegrades back to the earth in one month
  • Non-toxic

Cautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after waste removal. A parasite sometimes found in cat feces can cause toxoplasmosis. Please do not flush cat litter in toilets or dispose of it outdoors in gutters or storm drains.

Special Note

Some products are changing from bags to boxes. You may receive either packaging until the transition is complete, but rest assured that you are receiving the same great litter!

Transition Instructions

  • Pour Dr. Elsey's Senior into a clean litter box, using half as much as you would with a clay based litter. Top off the Senior with the litter you are using now, mixing as you add.
  • Give your cat time to get used to the crystal texture.
  • Once your cat is used to the crystal texture (about one week), empty the litter box completely into the trash, and refill with Dr. Elsey's Senior.

  • Don't take a chance...

I love Dr Elsey's cat attract litter and their regular clumping litter is a solid classic product. However, this litter is a gimmick I'm afraid. :( I was really disappointed. I took a chance on it because I have a 17yr old kitty with chronic renal disease so she is urinating a lot. She lives in my bedroom so I was trying to control the urine smell and quantity...this litter needed to be tossed a couple days after I put in box because it doesn't clump the urine at all so ...yuck. Maybe if it was clumping it would be better? I also hated the way it tracked everywhere. ALL litter tracks, but this one just freaked me out for some reason. Little sharp urine coated shards in my bed...everywhere...Ew I love Dr Elsey's cat attract litter and their regular clumping litter is a solid classic product. • super dusty

    By on

This was my first try with silica litter. This stuff seemed so easy to use at first, scoop poops and stir. But omg is it dusty and it tracks horribly! It absorbed urine very well but did nothing for fecal odor. It was so stinky i just dumped it out after two weeks and went back to clumping clay. I only had one cat using the box btw!

  • BEST item for senior felines & pet owner

    By on

The most notable difference is that the litter does take away the foul fecal order after their BM. Which is greatly greatly appreciated! They do not track as much outside when leaving the litter box. However, as is the case with felines over the age of 18, it takes a lot of litter to soak up their larger quantity of urine. Was hoping not to go thru the litter so fast; but since it is affordable I will stay with this product and not go back to my Arm & Hammer dust free.

  • New product

    By on

On the advice of my Son who had an elderly feline I switched to this product from BB. So far I love the clean up and no smell. What I haven't figured out yet is the cost because you change the whole litter box more frequent than my other product. It surely saves time with the clean up.

  • Huh? Did I mess it up?

    By on

I don't know what I missed. This stuff was awful. My cats used it well enough but it didn't solve the issue my older cat was having. Sure it petrified the poop but the urine never clumped. I mean not ever. So as I was scooping the dust was an awful mix of the litter and powdered urine. I really hate leaving negative comments but I was shocked, truly, at the out come because of all the great reviews. I threw all of it into my back garden (because it is supposed to be biodegradable...) and moved on...

  • Great for its purpose!

I have a senior cat and a long-haired cat. Both of them benefit by this litter, and so do I. Poop is dessicated quickly, you just scoop it easily because the litter is dry. It doesn't clump, pee is absorbed into the crystals and ceases to smell. When it's completely saturated, just replace all of it. How long it lasts depends on how many cats use it. One package lasts us about a month. You can't buy a monster bag of it like cheap litters but it's so much nicer. Having next-day delivery from Chewy is fantastic, I don't have to get to the store desperately in rain or heat. (This is Texas.)

  • senior cat litter

I have only been using it a couple of weeks, but seems to be great. My cat is 21 yrs. old and with the other litter he would get the material caught in his paws, and it would be soggy. I had been using scoop away Light, but they have stopped .making it. This is a lot better, than even ,that brand.

  • The best litter I have ever bought!!

    By on

This is the best litter I have ever used for my cats! I have a problem boy who likes to poop on the couch (covered) for over a year... I knew he was avoiding the box, but didn't know why (he always pees in the box, thank God) After several visits to the vet & even putting him on medication to try to help, I actually set up 6 different types of litter all at the same time to see if he would use one or if he preferred any of them. The day I added this litter he pooped in it! It has now been a week & a half & he has only been going in this litter exclusively! No more on the couch! It is very fine, like grains of sand, so it doesn't bother or hurt his paws like i think the rest of them did. I love This is the best litter I have ever used for my cats! I love that it absorbs the urine & bacteria, it makes it so much easier to clean the boxes!! Just scoop the poop & stir up the litter & you're done! I have been raving about this litter to anyone that will listen & will never use a different litter again! All 4 of my cats prefer it to the others and they are all almost completely switched over to it. I would recommend adding a whole new box with just this litter next to what they're presently using... If you mix it with the old litter it might still bother their paws & make them avoid it, too. Bottom line is, if you're on the fence or looking for a great new type of litter- BUY THIS ONE!!!!! … more

  • Best litter we've used

    By on

Have used a lot of different types of litter over 40 years of having cats and like this the best - and not only for senior cats. It absorbs the pee and dehydrates the poo. Eliminates odor. Daily cleaning is easy - just remove the poo and stir the rest of the litter (Note: this is NOT a clumping litter). It is a little dusty when you change the litter but I have not found that to be troublesome. Minimal amount gets tracked out of the box.

  • Dust is not great with this litter

    By on

We love Dr. Elsey's products normally, but we bought this for our elderly cat that has a problem with UTIs, and we couldn't stand to scoop the darn stuff! This is a "crystal" litter - based on silica (the stuff that comes in those little "do not eat" packets to keep moisture out of foods, vitamins, electronics, etc.) that I'm sure was safe and worked great for drying up the wet spots in the litterbox, but the silica dust that became airborn with cleaning the box was awful and left a bad taste on our tongues that lasted several minutes. It also made our cat runny-eyed and a little sneezy, so I'm afraid it was a "no" for us. Maybe it would work better with auto-scooping boxes?
