  • Works great, but take note

I have used the Drinkwell Platinum drinking fountain for my kitty monster for about 2 years now. Couldn't live without it. My little rugrat had a very odd way of getting his drink on, & washing his paws. I came around the corner one day, only to see a long tail, & some hind quarters, sticking up out of the toilet of all places! For whatever reason, Reese, decided he liked to drink water from the toilet, & also liked to wash his paws in it. Luckily, I don't use any toilet tank tablets for keeping things clean, or making the water all sparkly blue, so he wasn't at risk of getting poisoned or anything of that nature, but drinking out of the toilet, & washing his paws in it, just seemed quite nasty I have used the Drinkwell Platinum drinking fountain for my kitty monster for about 2 years now. Luckily, I don't use any toilet tank tablets for keeping things clean, or making the water all sparkly blue, so he wasn't at risk of getting poisoned or anything of that nature, but drinking out of the toilet, & washing his paws in it, just seemed quite nasty to me lol. So, I found the Drinkwell Platinum fountain. Unfortunately, once in a while, when he hears the toilet flush, he will go sit in the bathroom, pawing non-stop at the side of the toilet, or jiggle the handle(he knows that the pretty silver handle thingy flushes the toilet, which makes the nice cold water flow into the bowl), but, since I now keep the lid closed 24/7, he can no longer be toilet head. Try as he might, but his days of hanging out head first in the toilet are over. It didn't take long thankfully for him to fall in love with his new fountain. He uses it regularly, & of course constantly sits, dipping his paws in it, & licking them clean. Why, I do not know. He is quite the weird cat, to say the least. At any rate, there are 2 different types of filters that Drinkwell makes for the fountains. One, is similar in design, but is only divided in half thru the middle of the filter, unlike this one that is divided into 6 compartments. I have found, that the ones divided in half, seem to be smaller in size, as they do not fit the slot in the fountain as tightly as these ones do. Drinkwell says they are the same size, but, they are not, the sides are much looser fitting than these 6 compartment ones are. So, be sure you pay the extra $.25 to .75 depending where you get them, & get these 6 compartment ones. They fit better, & are all around a better choice for the money. Thanks Chewy for your fantastic products, fast shipping, & phenomenal customer service. No better place to shop, anywhere. My furry little monster Reese gives you 4 paws up! … more

  • Bad Shipping

    By on

The products and the customer service are outstanding. The packaging for shipping is horrible. There have been multiple times that a box of cat litter has crushed a cat treat box or cut open a bag of food. Please do something to fix this issue. I would much rather go to pet smart a buy my pet food than scoop it out of the box or sweep it off the floor.

  • Worth getting the premium vs standard

    By on

Originally when we purchased our fountain we bought the standard filters and they worked okay. After buying these premium filters though I can definitely see the difference. The water stays much cleaner in between changes. I will say with 3 cats we go through a good amount of water so we end up needing to change filters more frequently than the package states but I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of these filters.

  • Good filter, leaves a charcoal residue

    By on

I love our Drinkwell fountain, and these filters work fine. They clean the water for us and trap the hair and dirt that may get in their water. My main and only issue is that these ones seem to leave a charcoal residue when I first put them in, every time I replace them. At first I thought it was a ton of dirt in their water because it's a big black circle. It goes away once you wash it out, it's just annoying to dump a giant dog bowl out right after you fill it, just to wipe it out and fill it again. They fit both our small Drinkwell fountain for the cat, and the bigger bowl for the dog.

  • Don't waste time with the generic or less expensive versions

    By on

These cost more money no matter where you look, but you really do get what you pay for. These filter better that the the non-premium "dual, or single pocket" versions, which I have given up on. These also fit nice and snug, not allowing water to slip past the filter (which would defeat the whole purpose). I also looked high and low and Chewy has the best pricing on these, especially if you use auto-ship.

These work with my cat's drink well water fountain and they help keep her water clearer in between cleanings of the fountain.

  • Only filters I'll use

    By on Top 250 Contributor

I haven't tried any generic filters for my fountain but I've heard bad things about using them. I've never had a problem with these filters and will continue to use them. It keeps the water clean for my cat and that's all that I need it to do.

  • A staple for the drinkwell fountains

    By on

A necessary addition to owning the already-quiet-and-great Drinkwell fountain. Marks a major improvement for my cat who previously only enjoyed drinking out of the toilet.

  • Catches the "ickiness"

    By on

Great product. Catches all the "ickiness" (hair, food, bits of litter, etc). Just make sure before first use to thoroughly rinse the cartridge with cold water and bang/shake out before replacing for the first time. Otherwise you will have carbon "dust" at the bottom of your fountain. Unsightly but completely harmless. Drinkwell I have found to be a good and reliable product. have owned them for many, many years. I think every cat owner should have one. =-)

  • Great price!

Nice to be able to order several filters at a good price. The pet store price is very expensive. Now I can order enough to use and have for later. Thanks.
