Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our kitties love it! No fish, carrageenan, and xanthan gum (has guar, tho) Yeah, it has potatoes and doesn't have meat as the first ingredient, but it's carrageenan-free and also, I'd read that some cats can be sensitive to gums, but guar gum (this has it) is at least, naturally-derived, as opposed to xanthan gum (this does not have it). I think one of my cats had issues with xanthan, because she'd get loose stools when I fed her the Weruva chicken dishes in gravy (which were too low in calorie, anyway). Mainly picked this since it has NO FISH! Too much fish = could lead to hyperthyroidism, which I had no clue about, and fed them a lot of Weruva tuna ("Polynesian BBQ") before. :( Also, the Weruva Cats in the Kitchen flavors have a lot of fish and they started getting tired of the non-fish ones :/ Also, they hate pate (no to Wild Calling) and disliked Redbarn's stews. They love this stuff, though, along with the Liver flavor and the purple can (Fritcatssee?)! No fish in those! Did not care much for the red can (beef but has a little tuna)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Finally found something they will eat Have 2 senior cats that over the course of a year have become VERY picky eaters and as a result lost way too much weight. I tried so many different food and they would graze a little and walk away, even went back to what they had when they were babies with no luck. Not sure how I even found this product, think it was trial and error but I am very educated on what I feed my animals so there is a standard I don't just buy anything, I go through reviews, look at what is in it, etc. Anyhow they are finally eating this consistently (for the most part) and their weight is finally up a tad. I do use both the dry and wet brands and various flavors to keep them interested. So if you are having issues with your cat eating, try this stuff, and the canned ones as well. 4 stars because it takes a good bit of effort to get it out of the can but probably a good thing, must be vacuumed seal or something.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chicken Catcciatori Has Changed During my lifetime I've had many cats who have had varying degrees of finickiness. But our newest cat, Tinsie, is the most finicky cat I've encountered. She is now our only indoor cat... having recently lost my 20 year old cat. After an expensive tour through various cat foods the Earthborn Chicken Catcciatori is the first food she would not only eat consistently, but with relish. And, it was very hard to find a chicken cat food that did not have liver in it. Most of my cats will not eat liver. The Chicken Catcciatori was a nice light chicken that would hold its shape in the bowl. No gravy that I could see, but more like an aspic. It actually looked like human food. So, I jumped on to auto-delivery ordering the 3oz cans. Later, I began ordering the 5.5oz cans too. When I first opened one of the larger cans I noticed the chicken was darker... and the can had more gravy than the smaller cans. However, Tinsie would eat both so I was okay with it. So I adjusted my auto delivery to two cases of the 3oz cans and two cases of the 5.5oz cans. A lot for one cat, but I like to have plenty in storage. Unfortunately, with my last order I noticed that something has definitely changed. For one, the chicken in the 5.5oz can is darker and has even more gravy. I have cans from two different orders, and I've done a side-by-side comparison... so it is not my imagination. The real downside is now there is no difference in appearance between the two can sizes. The nice light chicken in the 3oz cans has been replaced with the dark chicken with gravy. The 3oz and 5.5oz cans now have dark chicken that contains too much gravy. However, the real test is with Tinsie. With this last order Tinsie will no longer eat this food... NOT ONE BITE! So, unfortunately I'm on the move again trying to find something Tinsie will eat. It is sad to see her camped out in the kitchen wondering why I won't feed her the food she has been eating daily. I only have a few of the cans with the lighter chicken... so I am trying to make them last until I find something else. Finding a food she would eat was stressful when I first brought her home. And, it is even more stressful now... for both of us. So, I'm in agreement with other recent posts that address this problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product, cats love it I've read other reviews and wanted to chime in. I first started buying the Earthborn varieties of canned food when I needed something for my cat with food allergies, something that wouldn't make him throw up. This was the only food that he did not throw up besides his L.I.D. I now have four indoor cats, of varying ages from 9 months to 6 years, with varying appetites. It is VERY difficult to find one that can and will be eaten by all of them, for all life stages, and this one fits the bill. No one throws up, which frequently happens if I give them other foods and they never lose interest in it. I offer this with their dry diet as well. They tear into it, they all love it. It even won over my daughters finicky anti-social cat and she will run to the food bowl with the other cats in the morning to get her share despite the fact that she doesn't like the other cats. As far as any changes to the product over time, I can only say that the only change I've noticed is that they include more of the sauce in each can and even that varies from can to can. That may be a quality control issue or a former customer complaint (not enough sauce) that they have tried to rectify. I've not noticed a difference in the quality of the food itself as all my cats are thriving, no health issues, with shining soft coats. And they all eat it like it's their last meal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very High Quality Food I've compared several brands of wet cat food and this brand is easily at the top of my list. The ingredients are top notch and it almost looks like it's people food. My 12 year old cat gobbles it up. He seems to have lost some excess weight and his coat is more vibrant since I switched him to this from dry kibble. I highly recommend this food.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the same quality When I first started buying this product when it was new my cats loved it. It looked appealing in the can like shredded chicken for a salad. I'd open the can and both were at my feet waiting for their meal. It was full to the brim with nice sized pieces of chicken. No goopy "gravy" or runny "sauce", it appeared to be all bite sized chicken. Lately though, I believe they have started to cut corners because my cats don't like it. Now when a can is open there is a jelly-like substance that the chicken is in. They will eat it but not with enthusiasm as before. It seems that this company has gone the way of others with cans that now have filler liquid (who knows what it is) and less actual food. (Wellness is a good example). When I pay high prices I expect quality and a full can of food not air pockets, or liquid. This is a disappointment in quality and it is no longer on the menu for my cats.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not What It Used To Be I agree with reviewer "Piwacket" from April 2016. I started buying Earthborn at the recommendation of a rep that was set up at the store where I get my boys food from (before chewy that is). I have been very happy with many of the varieties over the years, but the chicken has changed. It used to be loaded full with the shredded chicken, like a can fresh white meat. My boys loved it and licked the bowls clean. Now I open the can and it's getting to be a dark, goopy, jelly, globby mess that was never there before. The chicken seems of a lower quality and I'm not overly fond of the goop it's now soaking in. One brother won't finish it the other walks away from it after a sniff and meows at me to give him something different. I still love the beef variety and the Harbor Harvest and so do the boys. I wish I knew I was writing this tonight I would have taken a photograph of a freshly opened can, I have good light in my kitchen for that to see the new appearance. It's very different from what it used to be. I recommend the brand without reservation but not this particular variety any more. If you asked me when I first started buying the chicken I would have told you I would feed this and nothing else to my cats it was such great quality food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 Month Old Kitten Love it! In my efforts to feed my 3 month old Siberian kitten really great quality food I have done a lot of research. There are not many really good wet foods that are labeled for kittens. Earthborn gets high marks in the reviews I've read for their quality ingredients. Most importantly my kitten really loves this food as part of her wet food rotation. (I try to feed both dry and wet--a variety of chunky and paté wet to keep her from getting finiky). In fact, she recently got a vacination and wouldn't eat anything. The first food we were able to get her to eat was this Earthborn Chicken Catcciatori. I ordered a case the next week!
