Feeding Instructions

Adjust amounts accordingly over time. Please remember these portions are averages and will vary according to age, activity, size and temperament of your cat. When introducing Primitive Feline™ to your cat's diet, mix increasing amounts of Primitive Feline™ with decreasing amounts of the current food over a one-week period.

During gestation and lactation, feed two to three times as much food as recommended in the Daily Feeding Guide for the weight of your adult cat. Kittens start to eat solid foods at three to four weeks of age and should have free access to moistened food from this time until weaning (6 - 8 weeks). Moistened food should be one part warm water with three parts Primitive Feline™. You may keep Primitive Feline™ before your kitten at all times; most kittens will satisfy their nutritional needs as their appetite dictates. Have clean, fresh water available at all times.

Transition Instructions

  • On days 1 & 2 of the change, you should have plenty of your pet’s old food left. Fill the bowl with three quarters of the old food, and one quarter of Earthborn Holistic®.

  • On days 3 & 4, add in another quarter, so you have half old food, half Earthborn Holistic®.

  • On days 5 & 6, mix one quarter old food and three quarters Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets.

  • In only 7 days, your pet will be on an all-new diet of Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets!

I have two cats 3 years old. They are extremely picky eaters. I decided through the recommendation of a friend to try the holistic earthborn. Neither cat wanted to eat it for about 3 days. I made up my mind to keep offering it because I figured they'd eventually eat it. One cat is always throwing up her food and the other has long fur and it was starting to look dry. Knowing this was a healthy food I wanted them to eat it! After 3 days of them just merely picking pieces of it they started eating normally. The first thing I noticed after they were eating this food is there was very little poop! At first I was concerned. It's been over a month and they're eating just fine but still very little I have two cats 3 years old. They are extremely picky eaters. I did some research and realized because it's a healthy food the food is being utilized and not just being discarded. There is very little odor coming from their cat boxes now! Gracie's fur looks so much better already and has dropped a few pounds. Kiki has not thrown up at all! So it may take them a while to get used to the taste but I believe it's worth it! … more

Started a slow introduction of this food, a small dish alongside the previous. They have begun asking for this food specifically (yes, really). Seems to be well digested, by color evidence in litter box, and the eldest cat especially seems to like the small kibble size. I like that it's high protein and grain-free, even tho it is dry food.

  • My cat loves it

My rescue tortie cat ate Royal Canin gastrointestinal for years to help with loose stools. Her stools never really got too firm. I discovered Earthborn when I adopted a rescue greyhound. I decided to try the Earthborn cat food. My cat loves it and her stools are no longer loose. I had to special order the Earthborn cat food where I live. That was a process so I decided to try Chewy. This is my first Chewy purchase. It arrived next day, well packaged and the product had a good shelf life. What more could you want?

  • Refusal of food

I have 3 cats who are picky eaters. They also vomit a lot. I thought that this food would be great for them but after one sniff, none of the 3 would even try it. After about 4 days they had not eaten one morsel among them. I have never seen such complete rejection before.

If my two cats could have expressed themselves in words they would have said YUM YUM YUM. They ate so much I became concerned. Based on their reactions I would say you have a "Winner"

I tried a small bag of this to use in my cats rotation. All 6 of my cats loved it! It has healthy ingredients and made in USA. I had to quickly order a large bag before I ran out.

  • Finally found something they will eat

    By on

Have 2 senior cats that over the course of a year have become VERY picky eaters and as a result lost way too much weight. I tried so many different food and they would graze a little and walk away, even went back to what they had when they were babies with no luck. Not sure how I even found this product, think it was trial and error but I am very educated on what I feed my animals so there is a standard I don't just buy anything, I go through reviews, look at what is in it, etc. Anyhow they are finally eating this consistently (for the most part) and their weight is finally up a tad. I do use both the dry and wet brands and various flavors to keep them interested. • Amazing product!

    By on

We bought this product to replace our former grain-free food because it was available in our home town. Our five ferrets love it, and have never been more playful or energetic. They have thicker and softer than ever. Even took it to the vet to get an opinion on the food; and we were told that it was an exceptional quality food. Super excited to see it available on here.

  • She's like a totally different cat!

    By on

I originally got this food at ps+ but they don't carry it anymore, I went in there on edge not knowing what to do about my cats behavior problems, She wasn't going in her box and was scarfing food like she never ate in her life. my vet told me to try a non grain/gluten food with higher protein, and better ingredients.. After a week of feeding her this, she's more playful friendly n talkative, doesn't sleep all day.. but more importantly she's going in her box again. I was so happy. She's a totally different cat

  • My cat and kittens didn't like it.

I tried mixing with their other foods but they just didn't like it. I will be donating it to the Humane Society for other kitties to enjoy.
