Rated 5 out of 5 by EmilyTheChef My current two fosters like it, sometimes my permanent cats do too
My personal kitties are super picky, sometimes they like this food, sometimes not. But I run a nonprofit kitten rescue, and my three fosters like it, so that's good enough for me! I can't figure out why it's so well priced... it doesn't have a ton of unnecessary ingredients, it only has one thickener... it comes in big cans. What's not to love. I would say find a local store and buy a can or two to see if your kitties like it before you buy a case. Or, buy a case from Chewy and if your cats don't like it, donate the remainder to a local cat rescue! If they're a 501(c)3 your donation is tax deductible!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Meghan123 Cats not thrilled.
First of all, the food is 'gritty' because it has flaxseeds in it.... NOT because there are bones. That's ridiculous. Don't listen to people who don't bother to read the ingredients. That being said: My cats are simply not fans of any food containing flaxseed unless it's in oil form... Not this one, not pricey brands... Nothing. If your cat is a picky eater, I suggest reading the ingredients and avoiding flax if you can. A lot of pet food ingredients might sound appealing to you, but chances are they aren't for your cat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by James Dont buy a whole case
Bought 1 case of the Beef it Up Dinner cat food and 1 case of the Chicken Lickin' Dinner. 3 cats won't touch it! I noticed when I put it in the disposal that it was gritty like it had ground bones in it. Now I know why it was so cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MickeyCats My cats and I love this food
We have fed Evanger's Chicken Lickin for years, and probably over 90% of our foster cats love it. I've corresponded with the company several times, and I always get a fast response. The meat is locally sourced. The ingredients are wholesome. This is a great food for the price. However, some of my friends said their cats didn't like it. You might try smaller cans first. As always, mix it half and half with the regular food for a week or so to avoid digestive issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by FrancieG I like it more than the cats...
I think this a very good food, has good ingredients. I have 5 large cats and none of them love it. But then my kids don't love food that is good for them either. I use this and the Canidae All Life Stages Formula Canned Cat Food, 13-oz. I mixed a little of some food they like in with it to get them started eating it. After about a week, they are eating it fairly well by itself. I do add about a tablespoon of flax seed that I grind very fine in a coffee grinder that makes sure I don't have to deal with thrown up hair balls.

I guess I should've taken others' reviews more seriously. But I read the ingredients and decided it was a great product for a good price and I ordered a case of it. Hopefully the cats at the shelter will eat it, because mine won't.

Good quality for the price. With seven finicky cats, some with food allergies, finding a food they all like can be tricky. My dogs eat Evanger's too. Like the limited ingredients, no seafood, and that the carb is butternut squash; super healthy, easy to digest, and the cats don't really notice they are not eating just meat. Noticed this food dries out and gets crumbly pretty fast in the fridge even when tightly sealed. Ended up having to add water to it to get it back to a pate' and the cats didn't like that very much. And we all know when the cat ain't happy nobodys happy. So I only buy it in the small cans so I don't have leftovers. Yes, my cats are spoiled. I to wish Chewy's offered single can samples and mixed cases. Like to try new things but it's kinda of scary when you may end up stuck with a case of food your pet won't eat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by neocacher Product Looks Great... Company Looks Great
Wrote company asking about one of their ingredients. Received a letter back in less than 24 hours. I am not sure why such a large number of cats do not like the taste of the food. I have ordered a case for Lucy and I really hope she likes it. I also believe that you have to give a cat time to adjust to new food. Maybe the users were impatient with the transition time (I know that I sometimes am). The ingredients look great, Made in USA, ingredients are locally purchased, and procured by Evanger's own trucks, Evanger's is USA last private pet food company run by woman. The price is terrific at $14.99 a case for 12 large cans. In my opinion, everyone should try it to see if their cat will eat it.
