About EVO Ancestral Diet Cat Food

Designed by Nature, Perfected by EVO

EVO takes the ancestral diet of wildcats and refines it to fit the needs of today's domestic felines. Nature designed their bodies to hunt and thrive on the animal proteins of their prey. EVO cat food has high levels of protein with poultry or fish as the first ingredient to satisfy a carnivore's needs. To maximize the effect, carbs are limited—and no grains, potatoes or glutens are ever added to any of their recipes. It's the modern version of a healthy ancestral diet to make sure your kitty is getting everything he needs in every meal.

The EVO Advantage

The EVO Advantage

In perfecting the modern ancestral diet, EVO follows a specific guideline that promotes a lean, more conditioned body. Your pet gets the EVO advantage of more animal proteins and minimal carbohydrates to help maintain lean muscle mass and a healthy weight. These recipes have the stuff your household tiger loves, like delicious turkey, chicken, duck, chicken liver, herring, salmon and eggs.

More Nutrition in Each Bite

EVO packs more nutrients into each piece of kibble and every bite of wet food. As a result, your cat needs a smaller portion than the average kibble to thrive. This ultra-dense food has a high concentration of protein that's full of amino acids, plus essential vitamins and minerals. With highly digestible ingredients, your kitty can absorb and utilize more nutrients, which helps minimize waste.

An Easy Raw Alternative

An Easy Raw Alternative

Raw diets are known to contain high levels of nutrients. The careful cooking process that EVO uses to make their foods helps preserve these vital trace nutrients, vitamins and minerals. That makes it an easy alternative to feeding raw—one that doesn't involve lengthy preparation and trying to figure out which ingredients to include for a well-balanced diet.

Transparent Sourcing of Premium Ingredients

Careful sourcing and transparency are important parts of the EVO philosophy. Out of the total protein content, 95% of their wet food is animal protein. Their dry food recipes are made of 87% animal ingredients, and 13% fruits and vegetables, all of which have nutritional benefits for your pets.

  • Dostoevsky does NOT like pate'

and I thought I had looked at all of the information before ordering something "new" for him. No...I am now stuck with 23 cans of something he will not eat. I am giving it 1 star simply because I didn't feel there was full disclosure...or if there was it was it print I couldn't see. Some of the foods tell what kind of texture the food has. It says I can go to the EVO web site for more information...nah...no more EVO.

  • "Duck" now contains allergens - chicken and turkey.

First, Proctor & Gamble, who bought out Natura Pet Foods (which produced EVO, Innova, and California Natural) a few years back, discontinues EVO's Venison cat food, now they've adulterated the Duck with common protein allergens - chicken and turkey. What made these two EVO cat foods unique and highly sought after was their high nutritional quality and lack of common protein allergens. P&G has now eliminated the only two quality foods available for cats with allergies to fish, chicken, and turkey. There is no other food that has the quality of the original EVO foods available with which to replace these two foods. • Really Disappointed They Changed the Formula

    By on

This used to be "95% Duck" and duck was the only protein. Now it's "95% Animal Protein" and contains chicken and turkey and chicken liver in addition to duck. It used to only have one filler (Guar Gum). Now it contains three fillers (Guar Gum, Cassia Gum and Xanthan Gum). Despite using cheaper ingredients the price is just as high and now the cat doesn't even like it anymore.

  • Our kitties do not like duck...

    By on

Based on the recommendation of our breeder, we have been feeding our fur babies Evo since they were kittens. They have never protested Evo food before (even when I accidentally purchased the canine Evo - oops!). Sadly, they just won't eat the duck flavor. I usually order chicken & turkey, but chewy.com was out of stock at the time. I thought the switch wasn't a big deal and they could have some variety; they apparently want no such thing. I left 3 stars since I'm sure there isn't anything wrong with the food based on other reviews. Our cats just didn't like it. Chewy, by the way, was excellent about the return. I couldn't ask for a better experience, so thank you chewy!

  • Formula changed, no longer 'limited' ingredients

    By on

We have a cat that can only eat duck protein due to IBS. The newest shipment of Evo duck pate has mostly duck but also chicken and other proteins. I'm sure it is a fine product still but it no longer meets the requirements that I need; I wish they would take it off the limited ingredients list because it is no longer just duck.

  • 7.5% protein is the highest EVO cat food I can find now

    By on

Used EVO chicken and turkey in the past at 9% protein, but it maybe out of production unfortunately. Prefer the grain-free EVO products and this is the best you will find on the market now.

  • The Recipe Has CHANGED!

    By on

This is no longer a duck only food. It is now a "duck, plus whatever we happened to have around" food. The ingredients listed on this website need to be updated, because the can in my hand lists duck, chicken, turkey and fish. If you wanted a food with limited proteins, run from this one!

  • My Cat Loves it

    By on

My cat was diagnosed with borderline Diabetes, other cat foods seemed to make her very lethargic. About a week or two of feeding her EVO both Duck and Chicken she is looking better and seems to be feeling better. I was very surprised at such a change. EVO has saved my kitty.
