Feline Natural Chicken & Lamb Feast Raw Grain-Free Freeze-Dried Cat Food is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 54.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from healthy, natural, and convenient raw option I'm always on the lookout for new healthy options for my cats. Feline Natural has limited ingredients without any additives. It's nice to be able to understand the list of ingredients in a food! I love the convenience of freeze dried raw food. In this case, just follow the directions on the bag for the number of scoops required for your cat's weight. Then add warm water and stir. I like to scoop the Feline Natural nuggets into a zip lock bag and smash them up by kneading the bag with my fingers before putting it in the bowl to add water. This is an easier method and allows the food to soak up the water better. My cats like it better this way, too. So far, most of my cats really enjoy Feline Natural. A few turn their noses up at it. You can't win 'em all! I feel good about feeding this brand, as well. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's good to have more options for raw feeding. I'm glad Chewy carries this product, and I'll keep buying it as long as my kitties keep eating it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Freeze-Dried Option In my opinion, this is the best raw freeze dried food available for cats. I originally tried Primal but my 2 cat's were not a fan. My cats however beg for this food. I re-hydrate it with some warm water as the company recommends. The little pieces don't soak up all of the water, but my cats end up drinking all of the left over water once their done with the food which is great. If you do your research you will find that cats have an extremely low thirst drive and must derive about 75% of their water from the food they eat. Don't serve your cats a water depleted diet!! As far as the quality of the ingredients, this food doesn't contain any fillers like vegetables that are included in most of the other premium brands. I also like that I don't have to mush up the nuggets, my cats will pick them out of the bowl and chew them up! (This is how the company recommends feeding them). I feed this as my "fresh" raw alternative in combination and rotation with ZiwiPeak canned food and ZiwiPeak air dried food.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing changes to a previously excellent formula... First off, like a previous reviewer, I am VERY disappointed in the ingredient change: when I first bought this food, Chewy's page listed the following ingredients: Chicken, Lamb Heart, Lamb Liver, Lamb Kidneys Lamb Blood and Green Lipped Mussel When the product arrived, it had a little sticker over the ingredient list on the bag, which now reads: Chicken, Lamb Heart, Lamb Kidney, Lamb Liver, Lamb Blood, Flaxseed Flakes, New Zealand Green Mussel, Dried Kelp, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Proteinate, Canola Oil, Manganese Proteinate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid I am OK with the addition of vitamins and minerals, but I am not happy with the addition of canola oil, and am ambivalent about the kelp. If you google, you can find some controversy about the use of canola oil in pet food, since it is not an ingredient that has been tested for safety in pets, and some human research suggests it may have adverse effects on heart health. The kelp can be a healthy ingredient in moderation, but if your cat is hyperthyroid (or in a pre-hyperthyroid "gray zone", like my senior cat), you definitely don't want extra iodine (activates the thyroid), and kelp is chock full of iodine. I bought this product because it seems that freeze-dried or raw foods are about the only way to avoid having starches or gums, as almost all wet cat foods have one or the other. One of my 2 kittens has issues (soft smelly stool) with starchy fillers like tapioca, potato starch etc and possibly also some of the many gums that are used in cat food---I'm specifically avoiding carrageenan already because of its linkage with intestinal inflammation, and I'd also prefer to avoid things like guar gum (may also irritate the gut and decrease food digestibility), xanthan gum, cassia gum, etc etc. Of the 3 cats I tried this on, soft poop kitten loved it immediately, her sister grew to like it after a week or so, and my senior cat totally refuses it. I was going to make it the centerpiece of the kittens' diet, but not anymore--I don't want to be giving them canola oil when I'm not sure of its potential impact on their long-term health. I still give this product 3 stars because it has mostly excellent ingredients, but...for a premium price, I should be getting a premium quality food with NO canola oil!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy & They Like It This is one of the healthiest foods available for my feline friends. I have 6 cats and they all will eat this. Believe these cats are beyond finicky but I have no problem getting them to eat the Feline Natural. That being said it is quite expensive when you are feeding multiple cats daily. This is my only complaint and I find it quite disturbing that K9 Naturals who manufactures this food produces the canine version of the food in 11 LB bags but can you get even a 4 or 8 LB bag in the cat food???? NO WAY......why is this?? Most people who have feline companions have more than one. None of the good quality foods for felines are sold in larger quanities. You have to pay top dollar for very small quantity of food. Why do dogs rate so much better????

Rated 2 out of 5 by from My 2 did not like at all. Other cats may like, but my 2 refused it. Was excited to get and planned on getting other flavors. Need to see if an open package can be returned. Expensive!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent food! I am a mom to two beloved indoor cats, one is 6 yrs and the other 12 yrs. Both of them were used to eating various kinds of cat food, either raw, can, home-cooked, but primarily can, and absolutely never kibble. The younger one is a sickly guy, he has chronic pancreatitis, asthma, heart murmur (low grade), and has been growing his belly to the point that he's almost at 20 lbs, unfortunately. The older one, on the other hand, was always a very healthy cat, low maintenance and no issues until about a year ago. At that time, she developed a tumor on one of her joints that grew to the size of a walnut within a few weeks. She had it removed, it was benign, but soon after, she gradually began to lose her weight. A year into it and she shed about 5 pounds, which was a 1/3 of her weight. Her vet ran every possible exam, plus xray, and could not locate any issue. We are suspecting that she's developed inflammatory bowel disease, very likely due to her old age, or in the worst case, cancer. She's yet to be seen by an internist next month. And so, with all that being said, it IS a challenge to find high quality, commercial cat food that will meet the needs of the both cats. While this food has not triggered any issues with my younger one and his pancreatitis (three 1-week long emergency stays, and you start to watch what he eats, like a hawk), it has definitely helped calm down the IBD issues for the older one. Her stools gradually turned into something unrecognizable, and without going into any further graphic details - Feline Natural Chicken & Lamb food was the first and only cat food, so far, that was able to help her condition. She no longer vomits and has diarrhea on a daily basis. Her stools are almost back to its somewhat normal shape, color, and smell. While the food is actually pretty pricey, I am happy that there is something out there that will help her and myself to ease her daily pains and troubles. Needless to say, I love that she devours it and never leaves a single piece behind. I will continue buying this food for as long as I can, because it is the healthiest I've seen on the market, without all the unnecessary and unhealthy fillers, chemicals, grains, and veggies, that most other brands put in, just to gain on the volume of the food. Thank you for selling this stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cats love it. I learned of this food from a trusted, unbiased blog which does much research on cat food. I gave this a try since I feed raw and decided this would be a good substitute for variety sake. My two cats really took to this since it’s very similar to their favorite freeze dried chicken treats. I was worried that it was in the form of a powder (which texture they do not like) but luckily it’s in the shape of a tube, about the thickness of a pinkie. Even though the instructions say you do not have to wait until the water is absorbed, I decided to do that after my cat tried to paw the food out of their bowl. I also stir it for about a minute to be sure the liquid coats the food, this way the water becomes flavored and my cats readily slurp it up. I also want to mention the fantastic customer service. I received my order the next day!
