  • Good, but could be better

The best thing about this scratching post is that my two cats like it and use it. They've totally ignored an all sisal one I bought 4 months ago. Therefore I recommend it. There seems to be common complaints about what's wrong with this item and I have to agree with many of them. The pom pom fell off after two days, but for me that cloud had a silver lining. While the pom pom was dangling from the top, my cats were trying to grab it and n the process, they knocked the whole scratching post over multiple times. Once the pom pom was gone, they stopped knocking it over. Now they use it only for scratching. I do wish the base was a bit sturdier. I've only had it for two weeks, and the rope is already starting to unravel, so I'm guessing it'll be ready for the garbage in about a month. For $15. it'll not a big investment, but it should last more than a couple of months. … more

  • Buy with caution

First word of warning: this tower is not tall enough for an adult cat. I, however, bought it for my 12-week-old foster kittens, who adore it. As soon as I got it out of the box and before I even put it together, they were all over it. They use it every day. Second word of warning: you get what you pay for. This tower is not as durable as a nicer, more expensive scratching post. My foster kittens ripped the ball off the top within an hour, and the carpeting is now unraveling after only a couple weeks' of use. But I am still happy with the product. It is quite stable and, like I said, the kittens love it, so I'm not sorry I bought it.

  • works wonders, but!!!

our cat has not taken to any scratchers, condo's that we have bought - this scratcher arrives, and anticipating the usual 2 seconds of attention and then forget about it - HE LOVES IT - loves the both materials of sisal and rug - loves playing with the attached ball. great. But, the item is so poorly made, after 1 week of use-- it is falling apart where the rug meets the sisal. so, if you don't mind spending some money every other week to replace the wonderful scratcher, so be it. Or, why not make a better quality item and charge appropriately for it.

  • Four Paws is going to be ordered again - I liked it so much

Four Paws scratching post held up well during the shipping - however the ball attached to the post lasted all of 30 seconds in the first minute of cat playtime. My cats are tough on dangly things. But all three of them like this post - in fact I'm going to get a second one for the OTHER side of my bed (it saves my bed from being their scratching post). Thanks for making such an easy to assemble post that should last for quite some time.

  • Serves the purpose.

It is very lightweight, so it turns over easily. The fuzzy ball hanging off the top lasted less than 15 minutes and the rope was easily pulled down the post exposing the cardboard. It works for the cats, but I doubt if it will last very long. Can't complain too much since I had a $15 off coupon.

  • Kitten loves this post

We found a kitten when it was about 2 days old. We raised him with KMR cat formula. We purchased two scratching posts because we were not sure which, if any, he would take to. This 5 week old kitten loved both of these scratching posts (I will post this same review for the other post). We cannot tell which he likes better but he is all over them and not scratching on the furniture.

  • My Kitten Loves This

    By on

My kitten has showed very little interest in scratching anything (except the carpet...). I purchased this scratching post and she loves it. She uses it quite a bit. She is small enough that it doesn't tip over just yet. Great product for the price!

  • Cats love it

This is a cheap and simple scratching post. It took all of 1 minute to assemble, just make sure the large washer is used under the head of the screw that goes through the bottom base. My cats love it !

  • Not a good idea.

I'm not thrilled with this. I adopted a cat a couple of months ago and I won't declaw her so I need a few scratching posts. Since I live on a fixed income I thought I'd start with this one. I'm not mechanically inclined and found the instructions weren't very clear. Once together I was very happy and put it out. The first time my cat used it it fell over and she is afraid of it now. It has no weight on the bottom so when she pushes, it falls over. She weights 7 pounds. Also the post itself isn't very sturdy. I actually placed a table leg on it to hold it down and put catnip on it and I hope my cat gets brave. I'll have to save up for a good one.
