Instructions

The main rule about grooming cats is this: Be calm, be quiet, and be quick. Cats have sensitive, fragile skin that cuts and tears easily.

Shorthaired cats need brushing only once a week, but longhaired coats require attention two or three times a week. The slicker removes mats and pulls away dead hair. The bristles promote circulation, distribute hair oils, and condition your cat’s skin.

  • Nice for Short Haired Cat

    By on

At first I thought it was rather small. But for my short furred cats, It worked really well, It was soft wired and my cats loved it. It did a good job of collecting a lot of loose fur. I would not recommend this on a long furred cat however..

  • Good brush for price

    By on

I have two cats, one of whom sheds year around. The bristles aren't too long like with other brushes, which have bothered my cat's skin. This brush may not do the trick if you have a long haired cat. For the short haired felines, it's a good brush!

  • Just what I wanted!

I have a large Persian cattery, and I am starting to give complete kitten kits with the kittens that I sell, including food, toys, litter and box, combs and slicker brushes. I also give a 3 page instructional insert with information on many topics, and I give a link to chewy in several parts of the insert, so people will know where to re-purchase some of these items. I bought the Four Paws Tender Touch slicker brush, as it looked like the one I used on my own cats, and it was just what I wanted. I will purchase more in the future. The only thing I wish that Chewy would carry is the xylan coated medium combs with a wooden handle. They slide the easiest through a Persian's coat. Cat loves it but it's smaller than expected. Takes a long time to get her brushed.

  • It all depends on your cat(s).

I have 5 cats. My persian cat hated me for using it at first, but he is coming around. His personality allowed me to use it. It worked wonders ! My siamese cat was fine with me using it but she was short haired and it didn't remove much (as I would expect). One of my short haired cats I had to hold still, he hated it, but it worked great. One cat took off as soon as I touched her. The last cat I am afraid to touch because she is a fighter, period. But overall I Am satisfied, it works great and my persian, he doesn't mind it so much anymore and he was the one I needed the brush for anyway.

Pulls fur out well. Sometimes hard to pull through.

  • It's ok for a back-up brush

    By on

No idea why this item has a loose handle as part of its design. I've bought this item several times in the past and it always has the loose handle. But it is fine for a back-up brush.

  • This brush really gets the job done

    By on

3 cats, one has very thick fur. Brush really gets the dead hair out. One cat has or had very dry skin/dandruff, but didn't realize what a difference. Besides, grabbing the dead fur, it looked like it was snowing on him. Did this 3 days in a row and hardly any dandruff. They all love being brushed with this. Wire doesn't hurt them because you don't need to apply any pressure...just brush
