Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on cats. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • Works well, gives peace of mind

    By on

I have two indoor cats, but even so they are exposed to the outdoor elements. For a long time I didn't give any flea and tick protection to them since they stay inside the house, but I've even found fleas on me, though rarely, so for the sense of insurance and since my cats scratch a lot I gave a one month treatment to each of my cats. They both tolerated it well and didn't have any signs of discomfort. To me, I see this product as sort of an insurance against my cats getting ticks and fleas, even though since they're indoor cats I don't plan on using it often..

  • frontline is always a plus ... :)

Of course, you can't complain when your pet has fleas/ticks if you aren't treating them for it. I have been using frontline on my cat since she could use it, and she is an outdoor cat. When I do find ticks on her, they are always dried up and dead!! Frontline to the rescue!

  • Great Product

I have four dogs and a kitten. I have used Frontline for YEARS on my dogs and I have NEVER had one tick or flea on either one of them. I have a big yard and my dogs are exposed to ticks and fleas, no problems whatsoever. I HIGHLY recommend this product. It's easy to apply and does wonders.

  • Great product, good price, super fast shipping

    By on

I've used this product for years with no adverse effects on any of my indoor cats. Over the years I've wondered occasionally if I even needed to use it on my indoor cats as there's never been any sign of ticks or fleas. I found out just how much I DID need it and how effective it is when we vacationed in a rental home and I forgot to apply that month's doses before we left home. Both my cats came home infested with fleas but the immediate application of Frontline and thorough cleaning of my house and rugs soon got rid of them. I always shop around before ordering and this time I found my best price (and free shipping) at Chewy. The package was even delivered the next day!

  • Best flea & tick guard 2nd to vet prescription

    By on

When in a pinch and unable to get my vet's prescribed 3 month guard, this is a great product for my cats. Works within a week's time so results are almost instantaneous. Only downside is that the fleas and/or ticks have to bite my cats in order to die which opens them up to potential diseases being carried by those nasty little critters. But it works fast so my furry feline friends are soon protected and comfortable, rid of irritating and painful bites. I would definitely recommend this to others.

  • Not very effective

    By on

I have 2 male indoor/outdoor cats. Can't say how it works on fleas. But it sure does not work on ticks. I've had to remove at least 2 ticks from each cat in the 10 days since it was applied

  • The product works well

I have found you have to switch flea treatments and the other one I like is Advantage Multi -a prescription. I would like to comment that some of the vials seemed almost empty so I probably won't get Frontline Plus for Cats from Chewy again!

  • Fulfillment

I ordered this product late in the day Pacific Coast, and received a day and a half later. We have a 3/4 a day outdoor large cat who guards the house. The fleas were eating him up. We put this on his neck and an hour later he was chillin.

  • Didn't work

    By on

I bought Frontline for my 3 cats when I saw 1 flea. I left town for 2 weeks and came home to cats with lots of fleas. I felt awful for them. I won't buy it again.

  • Worthless

    By on

I have used Frontline before and it has worked, This time it did absolutely nothing.....the fleas seemed to like it if anything... First off, the "vials" only had maybe an eighth of an inch of liquid in them, barely enough to make a spot on my cats fur. The "Frontline" was made in France, which is probably why the fleas felt no need to surrender. I feel I have wasted $60+ dollars on this product and will probably buy it from my Vet again, even if it does cost a bit more, at least it works.
