Description

Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on cats. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats.

Key Benefits

  • Provides fast-acting, long-lasting treatment and control and is safe for use on cats and kittens 8 weeks or older and over 1.5 pounds
  • Kills adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice, and flea eggs and larvae that may transmit Lyme disease
  • Highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats
  • Contains fipronil to kill existing flea and tick infestations. It also kills fleas before they lay eggs, effectively preventing reinfestation for 30 days
  • Provides waterproof effectiveness so that it won't wash off from swimming or baths

FRONTLINE Plus can control fleas for up to three months, however, if there is a high risk of reinfestation or if the pet has fleas which may cause flea allergy dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed.
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills ticks for at least one month. A once monthly application is recommended where tick control is needed. FRONTLINE Plus kills all life stages of ticks (larva, nymph and adult).
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, anaplasmosis and other tick-borne diseases.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • Does not work, fleas are immune.

    By on

I have already left a review on Frontline for dogs, and Chewy did refund me, but I want to warn people about the cat version as well. Please talk to your vet about Frontline before purchasing. My vet does not even carry Frontline anymore because fripronil doesn't work on many types of fleas anymore. I found this out the hard way, spending months and months fighting fleas and spending hundreds trying to get rid of them, but not only did Frontline not get rid of the fleas, they seemed to get worse each month. I recommend trying Advantage through Chewy since it has a different ingredient and my vet recommended it over Frontline.

  • Does work after months of treatment!!

    By on

I have never had fleas until about 4 months ago when my new kittens got them before you could put flea treatments on them. I have bought frontline plus 4 times now for all my animals with no change. I am enraged that they would sell such an expensive product that does not work even a little. I am going to try advantage II next because I dont know what else to do. I have bathed them and spent hours with a flea comb then treated and stillthey survive! !!! Save yourselves A LOT of money and try something else!! Frontline does not even a little!!

  • Formula isn't as strong

The environment has been treated with Fleabusters and will reapply with the recommended 6 weeks after. Even though I do not see any activity in the environment I'm reapplying just incase. I've done all the necessary recommendations from Fleabusters to treat carpet, upholstery, pet bedding, etc. along with vacuuming once a week. I do not see ANY fleas anywhere other than on my cat. I brush her daily twice a day and I still continue to pull out fleas from her. Despite already applying every three weeks for two consecutive months. For the price I'm paying, I will try Advantage instead. I'm giving this a two star because I'm not sure if this is standard that you have to wait several months for The environment has been treated with Fleabusters and will reapply with the recommended 6 weeks after. • Excellent!

Before trying this I tried to use a no chemicals shampoo. It didn't do the job and my kitty was suffering so much I just couldn't take it anymore. Then I went for Frontline. On the 4th day after applying not one flea could be found! Application is very easy and trust me my kitty is CRAZY!! He makes it very difficult to help. He was totally unaware that I was applying. The medication is applied in a very small area that he can't lick or reach. We still have 2 tubes because the 1st. One took care of the problem. There were no side affects at all! Don't waste time looking for anything other than Frontline!!!

  • ticks on cats

    By on

Frontline Plus for cats is the only product I can find for cats that addresses ticks. I live where I am surrounded by woods and ticks are a serious problem. Even chewable products don't treat for ticks. I can still find live ticks attached to the cat but I understand they may need to bite before the ingredients work. It does work well for fleas.

  • Previously Worked. Does Not Any More.

    By on

I saddened to say Frontline Plus did nothing to help the flea infestation my two indoor cats have! I haven't had a problem with fleas for four (4) years. This year however after moving into a heavily forested area, both my (indoor) cats got fleas. I used Frontline with the last infestation & it worked very well. I'm mystified @ the lack of efficacy now & searching for help! I know I applied it correctly, so that's not the reason. I LOVE Chewy. I simply cannot recommend Frontline.

  • Allergic-keeps me from getting bit, so definitely helps my cat

    By on

My kids let the fleas get out of control when I got sick. I am allergic, so I ALWAYS know when there are fleas in the house or on the pets. I will get bit like crazy and welt up with itching. I bought a cheaper brand. It didn't work. I bought Frontline. At the time, we had 2 dogs and 2 cats. ALL the animals were treated. I stopped getting bit. The animals stopped scratching. My kids moved out, so it is just me and my cat. She NEVER gets fleas anymore since I have been using Frontline. It's been 2 years. .

  • great service

    By on

We have ordered from Chewy on several occasions. Their delivery is super fast, their product great and customer service outstanding. We bought some product from them to kill fleas in our carpet but, because I babysit for my grandchildren, I got scared to use it. I called, and they reimbursed me, no questions asked, AND even though the product was still sealed, told me to donate it to an animal shelter instead of sending it back. I thought that was really awesome.

  • first time I have ever had a problem

Frontline has always worked wonderfully but I just bought it for my cats and dogs since i had some foster kittens in the house with fleas. Treated everyone...they all still have fleas....so we are waiting patiently for a 2 more weeks to pass to reapply another form of flea treatment.

  • Does the trick!

    By on

Frontline Plus keeps my cat free of fleas and ticks. We live in an area with a very high tick population. My cat, who spends lots of time in tall grass and in the woods, comes in with only an occasional tick, which is a benefit to both of us. The most important thing is to follow the one-month application schedule. Forgetting a month, as I once did, can result in a flea infestation on your cat and possibly in your house.
