Description

Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on cats. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats.

Key Benefits

  • Provides fast-acting, long-lasting treatment and control and is safe for use on cats and kittens 8 weeks or older and over 1.5 pounds
  • Kills adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice, and flea eggs and larvae that may transmit Lyme disease
  • Highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats
  • Contains fipronil to kill existing flea and tick infestations. It also kills fleas before they lay eggs, effectively preventing reinfestation for 30 days
  • Provides waterproof effectiveness so that it won't wash off from swimming or baths

Cautions

  • FRONTLINE Plus kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae for up to three months. FRONTLINE Plus also prevents development of all flea stages for up to three months. FRONTLINE Plus can control fleas for up to three months, however, if there is a high risk of reinfestation or if the pet has fleas which may cause flea allergy dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed.
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills ticks for at least one month. A once monthly application is recommended where tick control is needed. FRONTLINE Plus kills all life stages of ticks (larva, nymph and adult).
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, anaplasmosis and other tick-borne diseases.
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills chewing lice for at least one month. A once monthly application is recommended where chewing lice control is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • Frontline prevents ticks and kitty tolerates the treatment well

    By on

Our kitty never tolerated any collars, but she tolerates the Frontline treatment much better. We just drop this on her neck once a month, usually on her way out of the house, when she is too excited to try to lick or scratch it off of her neck. It keeps her tick-free most of the time, even though there are plenty of ticks outside in Massachusetts (her human family gets bitten by ticks just as often, in spite of spraying their clothes with permethrin).

  • Positive considerations for the negative reviews

It's too soon for me to judge how well Frontline is working for my elder cat Joy this time, but I am hopeful since it worked fine in the past. The real reason I am writing is because I was concerned after reading a couple of the bad reviews from people who were upset that the vials were only about half full. I asked my vet and she said that they were not full simply because a small cat needs a smaller dose of Frontline than a larger cat or a dog needs; they just don't change the size of the vial only amount of the dose. I also questioned the cost of Frontline compared to some other products. It turns out that I wasn't reading the info. carefully enough. My vet said she only recommends Frontline. All of this makes sense to me. If someone isn't getting good results they should probably talk to their vet and/or a representative from Frontline; there might be a simple explanation and solution. I hope this information is reassuring and helpful. … more

I had been using a different product for over a year that I would get from the pet store.Based on time constraints I figured ordering on line would save me a stop. The original product worked fine and was available from Chewy. However, I purchased the Frontline brand this time because it was very close in price and the comments on the website indicated the other brand didn't work as well. I figured I'd give it a try. One application so far. So far so good! I wonder since Chewy handles more brand names if only bad comments about off brand items are the only comments listed. There was also a delay in delivery. I was notified it shipped on Friday from a town 2 hours away but wasn't delivered I had been using a different product for over a year that I would get from the pet store.Based on time constraints I figured ordering on line would save me a stop. • Keeps my Kitty Safe

    By on

I have always used Frontline on my cat. She has sensitive skin but has never had any negative reaction to Frontline. Frontline is very easy to apply and isn't messy. It gives me peace of mind not having to worry about fleas or ticks on my cat.

  • Not happy at all

    By on

I have used Frontline in the past and had no complaints, however, it seems since applying this to my cats, I have seen more fleas than ever. I wasn't seeing fleas before the application and was just using as a preventative. I am not happy at all!

  • 17.5 lb cat has no ticks or fleas!

So far going great. I was pulling 1 to 2 ticks off of Six (cats name) every day. Since putting on the Frontline Plus Flea and Tick treatment on him, I haven't seen any moving hitch hikers on him. I check him every day.

  • Don't buy this product

When I pay an outrageous price for a couple of drops in each flea pippet, i expect them to work and relieve my cats of fleas. After one week of treatment, cats still have fleas. I don't recommend this product.

  • Safe and effective

    By on

My cats are like my kids, so my vet only recommends the safest products for them. Frontline Plus is the only flea treatment she will recommend for my babies. It seems to work. My boy is almost 9 and never had a flea, my girl is 9 and has only had a few. They go outside and play, under close supervision, so they are exposed to fleas daily.
