Description

Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on cats. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats.

Key Benefits

  • Provides fast-acting, long-lasting treatment and control and is safe for use on cats and kittens 8 weeks or older and over 1.5 pounds
  • Kills adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice, and flea eggs and larvae that may transmit Lyme disease
  • Highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats
  • Contains fipronil to kill existing flea and tick infestations. It also kills fleas before they lay eggs, effectively preventing reinfestation for 30 days
  • Provides waterproof effectiveness so that it won't wash off from swimming or baths

  • When used monthly, FRONTLINE Plus completely breaks the flea life cycle and controls tick and chewing lice infestations. Do not reapply FRONTLINE Plus for 30 days.
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills adult fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae for up to three months. FRONTLINE Plus also prevents development of all flea stages for up to three months. FRONTLINE Plus can control fleas for up to three months, however, if there is a high risk of reinfestation or if the pet has fleas which may cause flea allergy dermatitis, a once monthly application may be needed.
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills ticks for at least one month. A once monthly application is recommended where tick control is needed. FRONTLINE Plus kills all life stages of ticks (larva, nymph and adult).
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, anaplasmosis and other tick-borne diseases.
  • FRONTLINE Plus kills chewing lice for at least one month. A once monthly application is recommended where chewing lice control is needed.
  • FRONTLINE Plus aids in the control of sarcoptic mange infestations. Multiple monthly treatments are recommended for the elimination of mites.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

  • Used to Work - Not So Much Anymore

We had used Frontline Plus on our cats for almost a decade and had never had a flea issue before. But this year we added a new cat and she apparently is a flea magnet (even though she almost never goes outside!). We applied Frontline to her as we always had, but it did nothing to help her. By mid summer we had a full-on flea infestation in our house, and even our older cat who never has fleas was infested with them. We switched over to another medicine and the problem started reversing almost immediately. • Reliable product.

In the past, I made the mistake of trying an off-brand flea/tick product with our indoor cats. We lost 2 cats, "coincidentally" right afterwards, a week apart. We still had a flea problem with our other, (indoor), cats, so since Frontline advertised their product was safe for kittens, we tried it & both cats were flea-free and fine. They lived out long lives & we eventually got more cats, (indoor & a mouse deterrent as we live in the country). We had another flea issue, (infrequent), so Frontline was our go-to product of choice. Our cats are healthy & once again, flea-free. If we have another flea issue, Frontline will be our product of choice. PS. We love Chewy because of product availability In the past, I made the mistake of trying an off-brand flea/tick product with our indoor cats. • I might as well have used grape jelly

Naturally I am too smart to listen to the advice of others, and having just gotten an 8 week old kitten (covered with fleas) I started looking for flea control. I bathed her with Dawn as many recommend but as soon as she was old enough I bought the Frontline Plus. I applied it to all of my cats and nothing happened other than they had a greasy spot on their necks. Ten days later I am sitting here combing fleas out of the kitten (4 so far) and writing this review. The only effect the Frontline Plus had was to prevent me from using anything else for 4 weeks and having to see my kitten scratching and biting. I am sharing my experience in the hopes that it will help me listen to the advice Naturally I am too smart to listen to the advice of others, and having just gotten an 8 week old kitten (covered with fleas) I started looking for flea control. • Doesn't work--fleas are alive and well

    By on

After vacation, we returned to a flea infestation. Reluctantly, I ordered Frontline, since I prefer to treat fleas naturally, with raw garlic, DE and Fleabusters in the house. Hours and days later, the cats still have fleas! Why did I pay all this money and apply poison to my cats, if the product isn't even going to deliver any results?!??

  • Ineffective!

    By on

I purchased Frontline about two weeks ago after discovering a few fleas on my cat and kitten; both are inside pets. This product did absolutely nothing to control or prevent fleas. The fleas became so bad that I had to take them to the vet to be treated. If I had the option of giving this product 0 stars, I would have done so.

  • Works for my 3 cats

    By on

All three of my cats are indoor/outdoor pets and two of them have really thick fur which the ticks seem to love. However, they do not get ticks or fleas as long as I treat them with Frontline Plus each month during the spring, summer, and autumn. They do get them when they aren't treated. I'm definitely pleased with this product.

  • Terrible!!

    By on

Stopped working after a couple months of use. I have spent double what I paid for the medicine in cleaning supplies to get rid of the fleas. My Vet also said they don't recomend it anymore because it's stopped working for so many people. However, Chewy was very helpful when I called and told them what happened.

  • Didn't work at all

    By on

I used Frontline Plus on my 3 cats and didn't kill the fleas. I have all hardwood floors, vacuum and mop regularly, constantly wash all the bedding and the flea situation is worse. My vet told me not to use Frontline because it doesn't work anymore, but after reading these positive reviews, I thought I'd try thinking the formula was improved. Never using it again. Should have listened to my vet.
