Description

Frontline Plus doesn’t just kill adult fleas and ticks but also slays the next generation of flea eggs and larvae. Plus, it works non-stop for 30 days on cats. Frontline Plus has 2 tough killing ingredients. The 1st, fipronil, kills adult fleas and ticks. The 2nd, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to kill all month long. Plus, it breaks the flea life cycle. By destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae, Frontline Plus gives you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet. Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for cats.

Key Benefits

  • Provides fast-acting, long-lasting treatment and control and is safe for use on cats and kittens 8 weeks or older and over 1.5 pounds
  • Kills adult fleas, ticks, chewing lice, and flea eggs and larvae that may transmit Lyme disease

Frequently Asked Questions

How does FRONTLINE Plus kill fleas and ticks?

FRONTLINE Plus has 2 secret weapons: fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, this combo stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for 1 month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles. Fleas or ticks that come in contact with your pet are dead meat.

How long does it take for FRONTLINE Plus to kill fleas?

In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application.1 Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas.2

Do fleas and ticks have to bite my pet for FRONTLINE Plus to work?

No. FRONTLINE Plus kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat. No biting necessary.

Why am I seeing more fleas on my pet after applying FRONTLINE Plus?

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

After using FRONTLINE Plus, I still see fleas in my home. Why?

The fleas you see most likely started as flea eggs that were deposited in the environment before you began using FRONTLINE Plus. Consecutive monthly applications of FRONTLINE Plus will assist with the elimination of an indoor flea life cycle. In some geographical regions in the United States, it may be required to use the product year-round.

Does FRONTLINE Plus have an expiration date?

No. As long as you keep it at room temperature and sealed in its original packaging, FRONTLINE Plus will remain ready for battle.

How long after application can my pet be bathed or go swimming?

FRONTLINE Plus remains effective for 30 days, even if your pet swims or is bathed. After application, keep your pet from getting wet for 24 hours. If FRONTLINE Plus is to be applied after a bath, make sure your pet is completely dry before application.

Can I use it if my pet is on medication?

Before using FRONTLINE Plus, ask your vet about possible interactions with any medications your dog is taking.

Can I use FRONTLINE Plus if I have already applied another flea and tick control product?

Before using, consult your veterinarian.

Does FRONTLINE Plus kill anything else besides fleas and ticks?

You bet. FRONTLINE Plus also kills chewing lice.

Can FRONTLINE Plus be used on pets other than dogs and cats?

No. FRONTLINE Plus should be used on dogs and cats only. There are specific products based on what kind of pet you have and how much it weighs. Be sure to use the right product for your pet.

Can I apply it more than once a month?

Don't reapply FRONTLINE Plus before the month is through. It keeps working for a full 30 days.

How old does my pet need to be in order to have FRONTLINE Plus applied?

At 8 weeks your pet can start benefiting from the power of FRONTLINE Plus.

I used this product because I thought it was the least toxic for my cats. I know seeing fleas on pets is only the tip of the iceberg and it's EXTREMELY important to also take care of the environment by vacuuming, cleaning and doing laundry (wash in hot water and dry on hot) every few days. Unfortunately, the only fleas that died were the ones I combed out of my cats and killed myself. Fleas and flea dirt were present several days after treatment. The same situation held true for my daughter's dog. When I realized it wasn't working, I did some research and found out it is no longer prescribed in the southeast U.S. and stopped working there a few years back because it's ineffective. • Doesn't work

    By on

I've used flea products from the vet on my cats in the past with great results. This is the first time buying this product from Chewy. My poor rating is not about Chew'y service but for Frontline's poor results killing fleas on my cat. After two doses over two months and now going on three months, kitty still has flea dirt in his fur and beds. Fleas bite me, too. I wash his bedding every day and now dust him with Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth for better results. Won't buy Frontline again.

  • Frontline stopped working for cats 2 years ago

I've used Frontline Plus for several years on my cats and have always applied it correctly to the back of their necks as demonstrated by our veterinarian. I also keep the kitty bedding clean as well as the whole house. It has not worked during the last two years. Moreover, it causes bad dandruff on one of the cats everytime I used it. I have switched to Advantage with better results and no dandruff side effects.

  • Frontline Plus

The neighborhood cat owners all use Revolution, but this year, we all had issues with it not working. My cats (8) never had a problem with fleas with Revolution. I would put it on as soon as I saw the first sign or any sign of fleas. However, whether it wasn't working or the fleas were stronger, it didn't work this year and all of my cats ended up with fleas and they are indoor cats. So, we used Frontline Plus. So far, so good. I'm hoping this has taken care of the problem. I will use it from now on.

  • always worked before

I have always used Frontline for my two cats without a problem. I was very happy to get it as such a good price. However, since applying it about three weeks ago I have been pulling off anywhere from one to three ticks a day between the two cats. All are engorged and quite alive. Perhaps this was just a bad lot, but it isn't a good price if it doesn't seem to work at all!

  • Frontline does the deed.

I have 2 cats to protect. Purrcy is 9 years old and Abby Lynn is 1. These flea treatments are so expensive that I was looking for the least expensive but also something with a good reputation. And this was recommended frequently on the internet. I protected little Abby (she's already had 2 ticks this summer) and Purrcy who doesn't seem to have a problem even if he isn't protected. He is one grumpy cat so I figure the ticks don't even want to come near him. It seems to work well. It's been 3 weeks and all is well so far. I'm not expecting any problems. I've used it before and it did a very good job. Good Price too.

Couldn't believe our cats got fleas after having had several freezes, but they did. I ran to my computer and was happy to see Chewy.com had my favorite flea and tick killer. Ordered the box on Thursday and got it on Friday!!! Cats were flea and tick free by Saturday, yeah Frontline and yeah to Chewy, com for the quick service.

  • Did Not Work

I am sad to report that I had to take my cats to the vet for skin allergies and found out that it is due to fleas. The vet found fleas on my cats even though I have been using Frontline Plus. The vet recommended that I use Revolution or a Seresto Flea Collar. I am trying the collar and paid a fortune for it. I am really discouraged. I like Chewy.com but will not be buying Frontline Plus anymore. Lot No. P41102AX is what I had purchased.

I've never had to use this type of product before,my cats have always stayed inside.Where I live now,I have an enclosed outside space and my youngest furbaby,Bailey has decided he's king of the jungle out there,so my roommate suggested I used a flea and tick repellent and said Frontline is what she used for her cats.So far it's working great and he tolerated it fine,I give it a thumbs up.Also,I love Chewy, the prices, selection of products and fast delivery time is awesome.Thank you!

  • Does not work, fleas are immune.

I have already left a review on Frontline for dogs, and Chewy did refund me, but I want to warn people about the cat version as well. Please talk to your vet about Frontline before purchasing. My vet does not even carry Frontline anymore because fripronil doesn't work on many types of fleas anymore. I found this out the hard way, spending months and months fighting fleas and spending hundreds trying to get rid of them, but not only did Frontline not get rid of the fleas, they seemed to get worse each month. I recommend trying Advantage through Chewy since it has a different ingredient and my vet recommended it over Frontline.
