Description

Shedding is a problem most cats face and tends to be heaviest in early Spring and early Fall, but indoor cats often shed year-round. Up to 2/3 of the hair a cat sheds is ingested during self grooming, resulting in hairballs that are messy, stressful to the cat and the cause of potentially serious problems. Every loose hair brushed is one less to swallow.

Key Benefits

  • Designed for use with coats shorter than 2 inches, reduces shedding up to 90%
  • Stainless steel deShedding edge reaches deep beneath your cat’s short topcoat to gently remove undercoat and loose hair, FURejector button cleans and removes loose hair from the tool with ease
  • Effectively reduces hairballs, keeping your cat healthier and happier, guaranteed to reduce shedding better than any brush, rake or comb
  • Recommended by veterinarians to help prevent dangerous hairballs from developing
  • Patented technologies, designed by a groomer for professional results

Don't Dread the Shed

Shedding—it seems like a losing battle that pet parents can never win. It's true that you'll never stop your precious furballs from shedding, but you can reduce the amount of hair that gets all over with the FURminator deShedding Tool. Designed by a professional groomer, this ingenious tool reaches beyond the topcoat to remove loose hair from the undercoat. It gently pulls away the dead hair without hurting your pet's skin or damaging the protective undercoat.

Don't Dread the Shed
The Gentle Grooming Solution

The Gentle Grooming Solution

When you can tell everywhere your pet's been just by the hair trail left behind, it's time for FURminator to step in. Their popular deShedding Tool won't scratch the skin, and you can even use it on the ears and tail. Instead of cutting the undercoat, it only removes the hair that's already loose. With 10-20 minute sessions just once or twice a week, you can reduce matting and bring out the coat's natural shine.

Less Hair, Less Work

FURminator deShedding Tools help you cut down on your vacuuming time by reducing your pets' shedding up to 90%. Believe it or not, the hair that you find all over the house—clinging to the furniture and your clothes, and hiding in corners with its "tumble-hair" buddies is mostly from your pet's undercoat. This hair gets trapped under the topcoat and then sheds pretty much everywhere—unless you have a handy FURminator!

Less Hair, Less Work
The FURminator Advantage

The FURminator Advantage

There are tons of deshedding tools on the market, but the FURminator is recommended by vets and professional groomers worldwide because it gives real results. The stainless steel edge has special compact teeth that push through the topcoat and gently rake away loose hairs. A convenient FURejector button releases the hair from the tool so it doesn't build up on the deShedding edge. Plus, the easy-grip handle is comfortable for longer grooming sessions.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

With cats, there's an extra benefit to using FURminator. As steadfast groomers, kitties constantly lick their fur. And because only a third of the hair they shed ends up on furniture and clothes, two-thirds gets ingested. That can cause yucky and uncomfortable hairballs, and can lead to serious health problems, too. Instead of medication, you can help prevent hairballs by using the FURminator regularly.

I inherited this shorthair tabby, Patrick 18 years old, sheds so much, I was like, what the heck have I gotten myself into?! I have a longhair (Himi) and Bella doesn't even compare! Got to a point where I wouldn't even pick him up, because I usually wear black! (Invested in those roller delinters.) The area where he sleeps is a NEST of hair! I asked the previous owner, did he always shed like this? Yep, ever since he was a kitten. OMG. I don't know if I can keep this animal. And then, I bought this tool! Every pass is a whole combful of hair. You have to be careful because it is a powerful tool and you don't want to hurt the animal's skin. As long as I am gentle, and don't stay at it too long in one session, he doesn't mind it at all. Just a couple swipes over all the areas every day. And you can clean off the hair into the trash can with a push of the button. I wouldn't use it on my longhair, but if you have a shorthair who sheds a lot, this is the tool for you! Seriously. Thank you. … more

  • Does What It Says

Admittedly, when I saw the price of this brush (and nearly double Chewy at my local chain pet stores) I was extremely skeptical! It had to be a dang good brush to be worth that kind of money. I was using a standard metal pin brush followed by a detangler and all around it was probably half the price as the Furminator. But this brush is worth every penny. I wasn't expecting much as far as fur coming off, as my other 2 brushes pulled almost nothing off. I figured that was due to daily brushing and it meant my cat wasn't shedding. Oh no, was I wrong! Within 3 brushes, the Furminator was clogged and doing just one quarter of my cat (the left side of her back) I had a clump the size of my fist. Within 3 brushes, the Furminator was clogged and doing just one quarter of my cat (the left side of her back) I had a clump the size of my fist. It was AMAZING! I was cognizant that you could brush too much and potentially pull out good hair, so I tried to be conservative and within 10 minutes I had a clump of hair the size of a kitten. This definitely shows the amount of hair regular brushes don't get off and doing this twice a week, I feel it has significantly reduced her shedding and even leftover dander, which when I first adopted her, she suffered from due to stress and a poor diet and cleared up significantly but would not completely go away. This is worth every penny and I recommend it to everyone I know with pets! … more

  • Very effective

    By on

I had another brush that was very good (paddle type) but needed a second brush. With all the rave reviews I had to try the FURminator. My cat is short-haired and likes to be groomed (on his terms, of course). He seems to really enjoy this brush. With just a couple of strokes, a ton of hair comes up. The downside is that because there is only one row of teeth, it has to be cleaned out frequently during one grooming session. With my other brush, the more I brushed my cat then dandruff would appear on his black fur. I don't see any dandruff with the FURminator no matter how much I brush him. It's pricey, but worth it.

  • Best investment for your cat's coat

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I bought a small FURminator brush for my shorthaired cat Jupiter, and it's been a game changer! I thought I was getting a lot of fur off of him with a typical silicone brush, but the FURminator gets his undercoat and dead hair off of him easily. My cat is not a huge fan of being brushed (it overstimulates him) so I brush him when he's calm and only do so for about 5 minutes at a time. The nice thing about this brush is you don't have to apply firm pressure at all for it to be effective. Just hold it at a 45-degree angle and gently run it through your cat's coat. It might seem expensive for a brush, but you won't regret it.

  • Always a good purchase

The Furminator is a must-have, and my cat loves it. It's hard to believe how much fur comes off him with just a quick once-over (fur he'd otherwise end up swallowing), and I could stuff a small pillow with what I get from a couple of days of good brushing (FYI, he's a short-haired kitty). P.S. Use gently because this brush is sharp! I wouldn't let a young kid use it without supervision.

Even though I made a mistake and somehow ordered the brush for short hair, instead of long hair, this brush is still a very good product. My cat will try to bite and catch other brushes, but happily rolls over to be brushed with this one. I do believe it is important to order the brush that is appropriate for the length of hair for your cat, as this one for short hair cannot brush off the hair adequately for really long haired cats. I used to have a short haired cat, and I can tell that this brush worked much better on her than from my current long haired-cat. So it matters which brush you buy to get the best result. • FURminator short hair edger

    By on

Our cat Ghost gets these little fur balls close to the skin on his back near his tail. He has very heavy shorter soft coat. Brushing hurts and this seems to gently remove them and then he enjoys being brushed. I only wish I had maybe gotten the larger one yet we have many brushes and this one works well for that issues. He likes being brushed again. The other two are younger and I slip this in during their belly rubs especially now that their coats are changing seasons.

  • Wow! So Much Hair!

    By on

I admit that I was skeptical of this comb when I first heard of it. I brush my indoor, short-haired cat daily and I thought I was doing everything I could to reduce the shedding. However, he was still getting the occasional hair ball. Then I bought the Furminator. The amount of hair that comes off in each and every combing is nothing short of amazing.

I have a 10lb domestic shorthair kitty and this device is great! I've used a variety of different combs and brushes, but Peanut's fur is so soft and slick; nothing worked. The FURminator has been a great purchase!
