Customer Reviews

Halo Spot's Stew Hearty Chicken Recipe Grain-Free Dry Cat Food is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from A very disappointing experience! Looking to find a somewhat less expensive dry cat food option than the Orijen Cat and Kitten chow I've been giving my cats for a long time now, I decided to try the Spot's Stew Grain-Free Chicken. The cats seemed to like it without any problem, so I was starting to think I'd made a reasonable compromise. After a day or so, I noticed that their stool was becoming very soft and horribly smelly. Cleaning litterboxes became a nightmare, and I'm fastidious about a clean and wholesome environment for them, as well as myself. I quickly discovered that I was using much more litter, due to the every-other-day litter box changes that became a necessity. After a few days, I could stand it no longer, and stopped feeding the Spot's Stew. Overnight, the soft, smelly stool situation resolved and now everyone is back to normal, and I'm again feeding Orijen, in addition to their wet food diet. I am not a fan of any dry food for cats - too many health problems associated with it, but if like me, you feed a little at night as a 'treat', do at least make sure the quality of the product is the best you can afford.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Cats are fussy and would prefer to live on tuna fish. Great to find a hard food they will eat with good ingredients. Was much more expensive in a store. So convenient to have it delivered. Himalayan are prone to UTIS and I've never had one that didn't need to be on prescription food. So far they have done great on this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another good product from Halo!! Looks like it's a hit! I already use the ocean fish version of dry food and been quite pleased. Healthy food for pets- ethically done in USA! Good company!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality food. My cats will only eat this dry food. It's healthy food, and so are they.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They sing when they eat this stuff I'm trying to keep my 3 kitties away from the filler and additive laden store brands. I recently switched from Blue Buffalo to Halo Hearty Chicken after I noticed a couple of my kitties showing signs of digestive stress. The 3rd kitty has to stay away from carrageenan commonly found in cat food, because it causes him to vomit. This food has all the ingredients that I was looking for in a quality food, without the fillers and additives found in many other brands. The best part is, I get to listen to a lovely chorus of hums as my kitties gobble this food up. My one concern is how quickly they scarf this food. I mean, clean bowls scarfing. They used to nibble a little and walk away with other brands. Now I feel like I'm watching a pie eating contest. The key here will be to make sure they're not being over-fed. Especially since indoor cats typically need less calories than cats allowed outdoors. I may get pummeled in my sleep by 3 Halo addicts, but I know they're getting excellent nutrition and that they really love the stuff. And when my babies are happy, Momma is happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Results I'm new to Halo products after feeding a lifetime of felines varying 'supermarket brands.' Our two indoor cats, six and nine years old, are not finicky eaters and are healthy and active. One, in particular, had infrequent incidents of indigestion, loss of appetite and throwing up that would last a couple of days and then not reoccur for weeks or months. I started using Spot's Stew, both wet and dry grain free variants approximately six months ago. Both cats took to the new diet like my family takes to Ruth's Chris Steakhouses. We've had no further incidents of digestive problems. Coats are glossy and both cats radiate health and energy. Any movement toward the laundry room where we feed them usually results in a 'stampede' that can be heard all over the house. Needless to say we are very satisfied customers and will continue to include Halo products in the diet for our cats in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable Goodness For Happy Cats and Healthy Coats We do want to transition to an all wet and grain free diet, but the convenience of dry food, especially when we travel and want to make it easy for our kitty care takers, keeps us coming back to dry food. Our two 6-year-olds don't seem to gorge themselves on this brand, and we're quite happy with the change in their coat's health and texture. We now feed mostly wet food each day, with some dry food to tide them over in the evening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Dry Food I've tried Halo's Sensitive Fish formula, the Indoor Salmon and the Weight Control Whitefish. While all are really excellent, especially the Weight Control Whitefish, I think this is the formula my cats prefer. The kibble are smaller and roundish. They smell like real chicken. Litter box does not smell, most likely from the amazing ingredients :) I highly recommend this one!
