by JoeTheCatMan Great low protein food.
2 years ago my vet recommended a low protein diet for both of my very old cats. He gave me 3 different brands to try. My cats hated all of them. I went searching on the internet for the food. I stumbled across the Hi-Tor Neo. I was sent a 2 can sample. I took one can back to the vet. He approved it for my animals. I tried them on it...both of them horsed it down. I'm sold. Ordered 2 cases from Chewy. After a couple of months, I signed up for Autoship. Great decision on my part and my cats are still eating and enjoying this.

My cat really likes the taste. Just wish it came in small cans. Vet recommended because of low phosphorus. Better for cats with kidney disease.

I dilute with water and mix with Fancy Feast Gravy-Lovers which vet recommended for kidney issues as it has lower phosphorus, and the two together - heated sightly in microwave - seem to be fine for Mr. Fussy Cat with early kidney problems. Getting him to eat anything is a challenge, so this is good!

My cats would not eat this food. Cats with renal disease are usually pretty finicky. I bought a variety of renal support diets when I placed my order. They would not touch this one.

My cat won't even try this brand! It must not even smell good to her because she won't touch it!

None of our boys would touch this food. It has a very strong 'Beefy' odor that turned them all off. However, Chewy customer support was super helpful with a refund, and we donated the unused food to the rescue our Hugo & Bruno came from, and many of the cats there enjoyed it. My advice? If your pet likes beef or venison foods, give this one a try.

I have a cat that's now on a renal diet. She doesn't like the Royal Canin food and so I went looking for alternatives. She's also tried Dave's Pork low phosphorus and isn't a fan of that either. She doesn't gobble the Neo up, but if I warm it up and mix it with water (after refrigeration), she will eat it if there's nothing that she likes more in the offing. If you're thinking of trying it, buy a can or two before committing to an entire case to make sure that your target audience like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vicki Seems to be the only CKD food she'll eat
My 14-year old cat was diagnosed with CKD a few months ago and we've been struggling with the k/d that the vet prescribed. She just refused to eat the food, so I went looking for alternatives. Although this food has a higher phosphorous count than the prescription diet, my cat WILL eat this food. I'm thrilled that there's another option out there that is geared towards CKD cats but that also, apparently, tastes good. She's been eating this food for about a month now and so far, we haven't had any problems. I hope the brand creates another protein/flavor suitable for CKD cats because I'd love to alternate proteins for her.
