  • Good for urinary issues but cat didn't like taste

    By on

We bought this after our one kitty had a $1,600 urinary blockage and the Dr. advised Hills RX diet but that was so expensive and we wanted something that our other 6 could eat also. This is a definite pate and is rather dull and boring for the cat but if you can mix it with another wet food that your cat likes, it works out good. The ash is very low at 1.9% which is important. Basically with a urinary issue, it's all about "wet food and water" which is important for all cats. He's had no other blockage since and it's been a month.

  • Only kidney pate my cat will eat

    By on

I tried the other brands of kidney diet pates and she was not wild about them and they were crazy expensive. The price on this way better and she likes it. She is doing very well on it. I also supplement with a different brand kidney diet stew and dry food for variety to keep her eating. I use the Felo version also for my incontinent cat with urinary issues.

  • She likes it!

    By on

I was beginning to despair, as my cat is supposed to be on a limited diet, but she suddenly wasn't eating the k/d food. I even tried cooking some salmon for her. She ate a tiny bit. I bought her this food and gave it to her tonight. She is polishing off half a can with little hesitation. I'm so relieved. Thank you!!!

  • A Good Substitute for Vet's Prescription Food

    By on

My 2 sixteen year olds will not eat the vet diets for kidney failure. I am feeding this and Royal Canin 12+ and they are stabilized. Cats have to decide if they like it or not. They like the Royal Canin better but do eat this and kudos to this company for making an option for the many cats that will not eat the vet supplied foods. Chewy makes it easy to get.

  • Nickie likes it. :)

My cat is on low protein, low phosphorus and seems to be doing a good job. Be aware that on this diet, I believe he has lower output - must be absorbing all nutrients.

  • Purfect lower cost food for my Scooters kidney disease

    By on

My 19 yo manx with diabetes, hyperthyroid, heart disease and stage 1-2 kd with tooth issues likes this food. I do mix in some pure pumpkin but it is a softer pate consistency that is easy for him to lick rather than chew. His blood sugar never spiked with the lower protein and he is actually on a honeymoon from insulin now after I started giving him a b complex vitamin supplement.

  • Cats didn't like it

    By on Top 250 Contributor

Tried this for a 17-year cat who doesn't need a RX diet, but lower protein is always a good idea. She didn't like it at all and I can't say that it was appealing (color and smell). I would stay to RX kidney diet if needed or a somewhat lower protein offered by Fromm and others (such as 8-9%).

  • So far so good.

    By on

My 15 1/2 year old has the beginnings of kidney failure and the company graciously sent a sample for him to try. He eats this and a canned food from Royal Canin, so he has some variety.

  • Fail! Cat not interested

    By on

The cat this food was meant for wouldn't eat it. I'm beginning to think there is no such thing as a palatable kidney diet.

  • Okay m my picky cat won't eat.

I have 4 cats and the one I bought it for won't eat it. Sara is 19 years old with the start of kidney disease. She licks it and walks away. :(
