HI-TOR Veterinary Select Neo Diet Canned Cat Food is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picky cat eats it up! Recent DX of chronic renal failure and a picky eating 14 year old cat are hard to work with. He loved it from the first opening of the can! He instantly ignored everything else. I have to mix some powdered medication into it and he gobbles it up like crazy. I hope his enthusiasm lasts. It's low protein and low potassium, however I could not find any info on the sodium levels - hoping that they are in the safe limits - blood work in 6 months to see how my fur baby is doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great low protein food. 2 years ago my vet recommended a low protein diet for both of my very old cats. He gave me 3 different brands to try. My cats hated all of them. I went searching on the internet for the food. I stumbled across the Hi-Tor Neo. I was sent a 2 can sample. I took one can back to the vet. He approved it for my animals. I tried them on it...both of them horsed it down. I'm sold. Ordered 2 cases from Chewy. After a couple of months, I signed up for Autoship. Great decision on my part and my cats are still eating and enjoying this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No surprises My cat was diagnosed with CRF about 6 months ago. He spent a week in kitty ICU and we almost lost him. With our vets knowledge we tries several prescription foods. He wouldn't eat. I did a lot of research on line, found Hi-tor, called them, read every review then tried it. He liked it very much but started to get bored. We still feed it as his #1 food, but spike it up a little with either Royal Canin LP Morsels in Gravy, or Weruva Fowl Ball. He now eats with enjoyment, looks and acts like he did before this sickness. I have no intentions of changing his diet. In a few weeks we go back for another blood test and that will tell the story. But as I wrote, looking at him one would never know how close he was to the end

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good mixer My 16 yr. old cat was recently diagnosed with kidney failure and the vet prescribed a wet food diet low in phosphorus (specifically Purina nf). I read a lot of reviews and then decided to order the Purina nf along with this cat food. Although this food is higher in phosphorus levels, I figured that if this one was mixed in with the Purina nk, that my cat may be more likely to eat it. That is exactly what happened and I mix this at 25% Hi-Tor to 75% Purina with water and my cat laps it up. I have never ordered from Chewy.com before but they had the best prices when I used the first time customer discount. Beat out all the other websites I checked, including Amazon. Shipping was incredibly quick - I think I received the product 2 days after ordering! Will order again!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the Wild Success I'd Hope For I have a cat that's now on a renal diet. She doesn't like the Royal Canin food and so I went looking for alternatives. She's also tried Dave's Pork low phosphorus and isn't a fan of that either. She doesn't gobble the Neo up, but if I warm it up and mix it with water (after refrigeration), she will eat it if there's nothing that she likes more in the offing. If you're thinking of trying it, buy a can or two before committing to an entire case to make sure that your target audience like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! We have spent the last year looking for foods for our CKD cat. All of the prescription diets do not have him coming back to the bowl on his own (Royal Canin had him coming back for a second helping for the first few months, but he still wouldn't finish it without being placed in front of him a few times (still was better than Hills K/D)). We've been giving him this and Nature's Logic Beef for awhile now. We've been basically switching back and forth to keep his interest (with this as his primary), and it's been working GREAT! We come home after work and find that he's finished his wet food without us prodding him about it! We mix his medication into his wet food for breakfast and dinner (and give him dry for free feed because an empty belly allows his nausea to get really bad - he hates syringing and pilling... so...), and we haven't had ANY problems with palatability with this food. It beats giving him a high-phosphorus food that may be bad for him, or having to chase him with his food dish for several hours out of the day just to assure he gets all his meds in him... so being just a tiny bit higher in phosphorus than the prescription food makes it totally worth it (he's actually never had elevated phosphorus anyways, so the vet said we can really afford to give him something with higher phosphorus). Thanks to Hi-Tor for making a CKD prescription food that doesn't require a prescription to get (I cannot state how frustrating it is to have to get the vets to write prescriptions every time we switch foods or decide to try something new --- because of this we've spent considerable time looking into non-prescription foods for him (which has been a huge headache... but really, it's worth it!))! And thanks to Chewy for carrying it as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My cat found this more palatable than the prescription foods for CRF cats. My cat ate prescription foods, but reluctantly and usually only if garnished with one of her favorite non-prescription canned foods. Then she stopped eating the prescription foods entirely. Based on other reviews, I tried HI-TOR Neo, and she eats it enthusiastically. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are because the phosphorous and protein numbers aren't quite those of prescription foods, and because it contains meat by-products as a primary ingredient.
