I've got sample of Hill's Urinary Care from vet office when I took Zen, a neutered male cat to see the vet as I suspected urethra obstruction. Bladder ultrasound and urine sample (taken directly from his bladder) showed Struvite crystals. His urethra is not blocked, but crystals caused irritation. My cats love dry kibbles and the attempt to feed RC Urinary SO canned cat food FAILED for both Leo and Zen. So, this product is an alternative to normal dry kibbles Zen had (Wysong Uretic, Wysong Epigen 90, TOTW, Origen 6 Fish). Zen mainly eats canned food and gets some Hill's Urinary just before his wet food (a few kibbles only - he begs for it).
I'm not impressed with ingredients, but hope it helps him somewhat.
Another dried food addicted cat - Butter thinks this food is her cocaine (her previous favorite was RC Oral Care). I think it's mainly because Hill's kibble is very crunchy (8% moisture compared to other brands that typically has 10% moisture) and has oily coating on the surface that smells good.

Had always fed the best, grain free food to my cats but after trying a litter that showed pH levels I noticed my male cat's urine was alkaline. Our vet took a urine sample and found that there were crystals forming and causing irritation. (I would have never known until there was a blockage-or even too late). He recommended this brand food SPECIFICALLY above all other brands saying it worked the best.
I use both the canned & dry food of this chicken flavour (no seafood for my angels) and they gobble it up. I mix 1/3 can of wet food with water on a plate and add this dry so it floats around on top & gets soft. They like batting around "The Floaties" & it makes a hearty stew like texture which they love & get extra moisture as well. They slurp up the liquid first then eat the softened food. Feed to both my male & famale cat to prevent any issues from occuring and to keep them healthy. They love the taste & their coats are extremely soft & shiny. Whatever the ingredients this is vet/ nutritionist formulated specifically for this problem and works well. We have total faith in our Ivy League educated vet & I know if he recommends this food then it's the very best. Chewy made this SO easy. Whilst chatting online I just gave them name of our vet & they immediately called for prescription. Chewy sent out the food that day! Couldn't have been any easier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beve Crystalizing in Urinary tract
I had to have urinary tract surgery on my poor little kitty at less than 1 year old. It cost me nearly $800. My then vet suggested putting her on this Hills c/d science diet. She has been on this cat food since that time. I have also used the c/d canned food as a treat for her. This was 6+ years ago. She is happy and healthy and has had no reaccurances. I HIGHLY recommend this product. It is a little more expensive. If time will tell, 6 years of time has past and she is doing great. If you love your kitty don't take any chances, just do it.

If your cat has CKD, and you have to change their food, this seems to work. My cat isn't crazy about this food, but does eat it.
