  • Waste of money if they won't eat it.

Having to get a prescription for cat food that DOES NOT contain anything that would actually require a vets approval is bad enough - its hype so they can charge more for it. Its just a cat food. Tried to get samples - there aren't any. BUT my daughter said it helped her cats teeth so I bought a bag - a HUGE bag because that is what is available. My cat won't eat it. The pieces are WAY too big - I've seen dog kibble that is smaller. I tried chopping them in half. Still won't eat them. Put the (smaller) pieces on top of her food, once she discovers they are in the food she walks away. I have no idea whether this stuff would work or not. I give this one star not because of whether it does the job but because the manufacturer has so badly marketed this product. … more

  • Beneficial!

    By on

My vet recommended Science Diet t/d to assist with resolving my cat's gingivitis. I was given a sample, as my cat is a little bit of a diva about her food, and very clear about her likes and dislikes. I gave her the samples as a treat, and she absolutely loved it. It is a kibble - like food that is shaped and sized so that the cat has no choice but to chew the individual pieces, and the chewing process is what scrapes the plaque away and massages the gums. I am now feeding this food along with her Natural Balance dry and her Purina Pro Plan wet food. This combination serves to provide complete nutrition, healthy gums and teeth, and also results in a very happy kitty!

  • Great product

    By on

This should not be a prescription item. I believe this is the best food for your cat's teeth and seems to be pretty good nutritionally. All 5 of my cats like it. The puffy texture and size of kibble makes them bite into it so it scrapes the tartar off. Unlike regular dry food that is rock hard, sounds like chewing on gravel, and makes them just swallow the pieces whole. I do also use some canned food and a vitamin supplement to make sure they get enough vitamins and stay hydrated. After some dental problems, I finally found a vet that prescribed this. It shouldn't have to be that way, though. It's not a drug and it is good for all cats.

  • My cats love it, and it's working so far!

    By on

One of my cats was diagnosed in April with gingivitis, had a dental cleaning, etc., under anesthesia, and our vet recommended T/D. We went home with a bag of it, and she, as well as our other cat, have been eating it ever since. The secomd recheck (late June) of the cat with gingivitis showed that it was almost completely resolved! Since both cats like it, and Chewy's prices are so reasonable, it's a no-brainer to continue to feed it to them. I and my cats highly recommend it!

  • This works!

    By on

My cat Precious had the most horrible plaque on her teeth and before having her teeth cleaned under anesthesia my Vet recommended trying this food. I wish I had taken a picture of her mouth before and after.. Within a year her plaque was gone; her breath was once again tolerable and both my cats loved this new food. I would absolutely highly recommend it!

  • All of our cats like this!

    By on

We only give the cats a few of these with their dry food and they just love them! You can hear them crunching them. This was recommended to us by the Vet Dentist we had to use for one of our older cats - she suggested we use it to prevent dental problems in the others, and I think it is working!

Felix took a few days to really enjoy the dental care dry cat food . I actually think he has adjusted to it well! He can be a stickler about anything new and the fact he's eating it is great!

  • My Cat Loves this Food!

    By on

My cat is four years old and has been on this food for years. She is an American Shorthair, and this breed tends to have dental issues. Her teeth are wonderful, and she loves this food. Unfortunately, my puppy loves it, too, so I have to keep it away from him.

  • My cats love it

I have 3 cats and all 3 have different and very distinct personalities. They all love it!! Thank goodness because I'm a dental hygienist and of course I worry about their oral health. Oral health impacts the entire body.
