Rated 5 out of 5 by Charlie Easier than buying in a store
This is my cats' favorite dry food, so, of course, I've rated it highly. By buying it through Chewy, however, I've saved quite a bit of money and had those heavy bags delivered to my door. What a deal!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kittyman No More Flabbies
Our cat was getting some major flab on his belly that would swing back and forth and almost sweep the ground. We got him this stuff 3-4 weeks ago and the flabbies are already coming off. He had no problem transitioning from other food and actually loves this stuff enough to bug my wife and I cuz he is always campaigning for more. I wonder if Hills makes this for human consumption...

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stinkycat Feeding guidelines
My cat is a brand snob -- she lived on Science Diet while she was in the shelter and refuses to eat any other brand :) We switched her to Perfect Weight about a year ago, because she was slightly overweight when we adopted her and we were having trouble bringing her down to a healthy weight. I will say that the feeding guidelines really didn't make ANY difference to her weight. She actually gained a little weight when I fed her the recommended amount of food for the weight I wanted her to be at. It wasn't until I reduced her intake (with my vet's recommendation) that we actually saw results. I'm keeping her on this because it's the best way to keep her weight down, and because she really likes it (as well as the wet food). Our vet also said that her coat and teeth are beautiful while she's been on Science Diet -- she's a very healthy 10 yo!
That said, I would recommend that cat owners talk with their vets about how much to feed and not bother reading the back of the bag. While the feeding guidelines might be accurate for most cats, it might just be easier to work with your vet on deciding how much to feed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Leah My cat loved this food.
He is a picky eater but loves this food. He has to loose 3 pounds and with this he can eat a little more and still reduce his weight.

This is my first time buying this product so I can only say my cats like the taste. I have one male who is a little big & not very active. Just very layed back. I do believe he is just a big cat. But I'm not taking any chances. He only eats dry food. Only time will tell if it helps him loose some weight. Haven't had it long enough to know that yet. But my other cats like the taste also but they eat canned so them eating a diet food isn't a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by philovance The best "weight management" diet we've tried
Last year I adopted a one yo cat who seemed to have been free fed dry food by his previous owners. He was significantly overweight and I could barely feel his ribs under the fat.
I try to feed a mixture of wet and dry food to all my cats and now that I am retired and on a budget, I feed them dry food every other day exclusively to save some money. Toby was not losing any weight on any of the regular adult dry foods we tried so I started looking into "weight management" formulas.
"Diet" dry foods do not have a good reputation among cat food connoisseurs: they are generally heavier on grain and can contain "filler" ingredients like cellulose to help the cat feel fuller on fewer calories. I also found that where the regular adult foods generally contained about 475 calories a cup the diet versions had as many as 425, so not a big reduction.
If I was going to keep Toby below 175 calories a day and keep him from being hungry I needed to find a dry food closer to 300 calories a cup than 400. It turns out there aren't so many of them, but SD Perfect Weight fits the bill, with better ingredients and higher nutritional values than most. In other words, chicken is the first ingredient and protein and fat ratios are closer to those of regular food.
Although Science Diet foods contain what some consider to be "controversial" ingredients their Rx diets are very effective and highly recommended, including their formulas for weight reduction. Perfect Weight provides the same benefits without a prescription.
As an added benefit, my other cat who does not need to lose weight also enjoys PW although she is normally very fussy about dry food. So I can feed them both the same thing, which makes life easier.
My only reservation about about Perfect Weight, is that it is rather expensive, as are the SD Rx foods. It costs about twice as much as a food of similar quality from another manufacturer. However it is much lower in calories so we'll keep using it until Toby is skinny again.
