These don't last forever, the "points", actually truncated points, do become duller. The brush still works, but not quite as efficiently.
You can "recondition" it somewhat by using scissors to bring the tips back to a semi-pointed shape, but this is not ideal.
My reason for giving it high marks: you can rub this thing hard across you own face or head, I can't find a way to make it hurt at all.
Brushing around a cat's face is safe, with no fear of serious damage. i imagine if you hit the cat's eye with part of the brush, it might sting, But its not like a slicker(slickers have wire bristles.).
Because it allows fairly safe brushing around the head and face, I like it. I would not be surprised if this worked on some dogs with certain types of coats.
My use of this brush has always been confined to short-hair, American Domestic cats, whatever you want to call them. All my cats have come off the street and have had short hair. I can't say if this brush is good for medium or long haired cats, I just don't know.

I am a cat groomer and I recommend this to all my clients. My cat actually goes so far as to block me in the bathroom and yell at me until I zoom over him a few times!

My Siberian Forest Cat (with a multi-layered coat like a Maine Coon) loves to be groomed with a combination of the Cat ZoomGroom and the Pink ZoomGroom for dogs, followed by a steel comb to collect the loose fur.

I rescued a long hair Maine Coon cat. He never let me brush him, it took a long time before I could even pet him. After a while he got to trusting us, but after a few years I could never brush him, I had to cut the mats off him, never getting the whole mat, just cutting it in half so he could get it loose. I finially decided to try this. i didn't have much hope that it would help. But wow, I just started out using it on his cheeks, then onto his back, and haven't gotten bit. I just take it slow...each time this brush fills up with fur. Then a wait a while and do it again. Try it, its not that expensive and it feels good to your cat!

by Joygb Cat seems tio enjoy the massage
This tool is definitely worth getting. My cat really enjoys the massage it gives. If you use it in circular motions it grabs a lot of hair. I do that for a while first then comb her with another brush to grab the hair it loosened but did not remove. She purrs wildly while I'm using it on her.

This zoom groom brush did not pull much fur out but when I used it my cats grooved on being massaged if you do it gently.

I bought this brush after my daughter recommended it after she used it on her cats. It seems to do an excellent job. Takes the hair off and my cat loves it. I have used some brushes where the cat is always trying to get away. With the Kong brush it is the opposite. He wants brushed more and more
