Outward Hound PoochPouch Dog Backpack, Gray is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the Job I have an 8 lb poodle mix and this backpack works pretty well for him. He can snuggle up and look out through the mesh and still has room to readjust if he starts to get uncomfortable. Because of the way the bag hangs when wearing it, he was kind of getting wedged in the bottom, so I just placed a small blanket inside and now he can sit or lay down in the bag just fine. In my opinion, this wouldn’t be a good size bag for a dog over 10-12 lbs. I love the 3 spacious pockets so I can fit all of his gear on camping trips and hikes. I’m able to fit a ziplock bag of dog food, some treats, water bottle, sweater, raincoat, retractible leash, soft harness, and tie-out between the three pockets. I like that the top both zips and can be rolled up if needed. The one I got is solid grey rather than grey and black like the picture. I don’t mind the color difference, but Chewy should really consider adding accurate and more detailed pics of the bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Backpack Carrier Ever! I bought this carrier 3 yrs ago when it came in black. Even with daily use it looks great, no holes, loose strings, nothing. My 6lb chihuahua fits in it great. My 9 lb chihuahua fits but is a little squished. My 6 pounder falls asleep in it when im shopping. I paid $60 3 yrs ago and its about $25 on chewy.com !??!? what a deal. I bought a couple more to see if I could attach the two since my double dog back pack carrier is just far too heavy. A little TIP: Put a couple layers of thick cardboard under the pad that comes with the carrier. (cut them to the same shape) then wrap the whole thing in a hand towel for better paw grip / comfort. It makes the bottom way more stable / flat, yet not too rigid. This newer model ( although im not crazy about the blue ) has zipper pockets in each of the three pockets. It only had one zipper pocket on the older model. Don't hesitate to buy. This back pack carrier ROCKS!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but a little cramped! I have a 15-year-old Shih Tzu who is a bit of a princess. She has never liked walking for any amount of time and prefers to be carried. We've had a bag of some sort for her since she was a puppy, but recently we had to take her along on a weekend trip and I was forced to find a more feasible option than a shoulder bag. Because she doesn't go along on very many trips and is quite old, I didn't want to shell out a ton of cash. I decided to give this product a try because the price was right and it seemed to be just what I was looking for; boy, am I glad I bought it! Although my 9-lb Shih Tzu was a bit cramped, the mesh panels on the sides and an airline blanket in the bottom served her just fine. I loved all the compartments and the fact that the top zipped (it was nice to not have to worry about her jumping or falling out and injuring herself). The cross-straps that fasten across the chest and waist provided much-needed security, since I was also handling my 75-lb lab on the hike. After the hike was over, the bag made an equally great transition to walking around the city and was much more convenient than a shoulder bag. Additionally, it packed completely flat in the car (always a plus when you have a CUV and are pressed for space). I only had a few issues with the design, namely the stability factor; as mentioned, the bag wouldn't stand upright on its own, but I will try putting some cardboard under the padding. All-in-all, it didn't end up being that big of a deal because she was just as happy lying in the bag when it was on its side. I also wish the side pockets were large enough to accommodate my Gulpy dog water bottle. Overall I am very satisfied and would have given the product 5-stars had it been a little roomier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice product This backpack is very well constructed and easy to use (given the cargo lol). The front chest and waist straps make all the difference between adequate support and overall comfort for the wearer. I wouldn't buy one without them as the extra straps hold the pack high enough up on your back to distribute the weight between your back and shoulders. Just an fyi, though not necessarily a con, as it has a soft bottom/sides the dog will tend to sag into it. The sad news is that my 8lb Chihuahua mix didn't like it at all so I called to return it. I'm overwhelmed by the great customer service as the rep immediately said they would refund the money but not to return it and to kindly donate the pack to a rescue or other animal charity. How often does that type of thing happen? Love Chewy and will shop here in future for all my online doggie purchases. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly valuable to the traveling dog owner!!! I never make reviews, but for the Outward Hound PoochPouch Dog Backpack I had to make an exception. I purchased this backpack for myself when I brought my dog to live with me in Hawaii. I toted him with me on bike rides, in stores, on boat trips... just about everywhere. I would sometimes put a soft blanket on the inside that would support him to relax a bit more as he is about a 20 lb. Jack Russel mix. He's got long legs so he needs the extra support to "hang" a bit. It's not as ridiculous looking as many of the other bags out there if you're trying not to look like a crazy dog mom. It's pretty inconspicuous design and I absolutely love it. This will be my second backpack because I love the neutral grey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great if your 6 lb. dog loves to be in carriers, our does. My husband is over 6 ft. & it fits him well. We keep it adjusted to fit him rather than constantly readjusting it to fit me {a small female}. I'm thinking of buying a 2nd backpack, and keeping the 2nd one adjusted to fit me. Our 6 lb. Maltese 'son' has been used to carriers since he was a small puppy. Our 'son' gets happy when he sees his back pack. The pack itself is sturdy and made very well & the 3 pockets hold: Poopie bags, small pack of doggie wipes, dog treats, tissues, keys, water, collapsible bowl, some makeup, ID & money. Our dog hangs both his paws out over the edge of the pack most of the time, I don't know if this is due to his small size, or because the pack slumps down a little and he feels he needs to prop himself up a little in it. He seems happy and content in it. I don't think a dog larger than 6 lbs. or 7 lbs. would be comfortable in this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is very functional We purchased this backpack to use with our Yorkie. It is one of the best items we have purchased for our puppy. We love the zipper compartments and the perfect size for us to use when going on outings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The backback can be worn frontward or backwards. The mesh on the sides allowed for extra air so our dog did not get too hot. We did some hiking Memorial Day weekend. One of our little Shitzu's cannot walk very far so we put her in the backpack. She seemed to enjoy it very much. She is almost 15 lbs so she didn't have a lot of extra room but it worked perfectly for her. We wore it so that she could be facing us in the front and it was perfect. I would recommend this as long as your dog is under 15 lbs.
