  • Good quality, but too small

    By on

The bag has solid construction and is comfortable to wear. The pockets are a nice touch that a lot of pet carriers don't provide. The lining is comfortable, and the attached tether is useful for keeping your passenger seated. Although it is rated for pets up to 20lbs, it's too small for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to fit comfortably. He's squished even before I try to zip it up.

  • Enough space and storage

    By on

This is perfect for my 6lb chihuahua when he gets tired on our hikes. He will jump in on his own and hangout. I had to put a small blanket on the bottom for extra support but its not a huge deal. Storage compartments are great I can fit a regular sized water bottle in the front pocket along with his treats and my keys/wallet. The support straps are well designed I wouldn't put a dog over 8-9lbs in it.

  • Great product but a little cramped!

    By on

I have a 15-year-old Shih Tzu who is a bit of a princess. She has never liked walking for any amount of time and prefers to be carried. We've had a bag of some sort for her since she was a puppy, but recently we had to take her along on a weekend trip and I was forced to find a more feasible option than a shoulder bag. Because she doesn't go along on very many trips and is quite old, I didn't want to shell out a ton of cash. I decided to give this product a try because the price was right and it seemed to be just what I was looking for; boy, am I glad I bought it! Although my 9-lb Shih Tzu was a bit cramped, the mesh panels on the sides and an airline blanket in the bottom served her just fine. I loved all the compartments and the fact that the top zipped (it was nice to not have to worry about her jumping or falling out and injuring herself). The cross-straps that fasten across the chest and waist provided much-needed security, since I was also handling my 75-lb lab on the hike. After the hike was over, the bag made an equally great transition to walking around the city and was much more convenient than a shoulder bag. Additionally, it packed completely flat in the car (always a plus when you have a CUV and are pressed for space). I only had a few issues with the design, namely the stability factor; as mentioned, the bag wouldn't stand upright on its own, but I will try putting some cardboard under the padding. All-in-all, it didn't end up being that big of a deal because she was just as happy lying in the bag when it was on its side. I also wish the side pockets were large enough to accommodate my Gulpy dog water bottle. Overall I am very satisfied and would have given the product 5-stars had it been a little roomier. … more

  • This product is very functional

We purchased this backpack to use with our Yorkie. It is one of the best items we have purchased for our puppy. We love the zipper compartments and the perfect size for us to use when going on outings.

  • Nice backpack but definitely not for over 10 pounds

    By on

I love this back pack but my 13 pound chiweenie does not fit at all. It's not sturdy on the bottom nor the sides so she can't have her paws hanging on the top of the bag or it will just fall down. It's like a sack and she's a potato in it. I highly doubt the photo of a Jack Russell on the box can fit comfortably in it. She's about that same size but no way does she fit like that??? I wish I could post her photo in it. This photo is not real.

  • Best Back Pack Carrier On The Market

    By on

First of all this is about $55 on the Outward hound website so this is quite the deal here at Chewy. I have been using this backpack daily for 3 yrs. not one tear or frey. Very sturdy and comfortable. Fits up to 7lbs comfortably, 10 will be a bit squished but doable. People complain about the bottom not being stable. Just cut out two layers of very thick cardboard in the shape of the pad and put it under the pad. Put hand towel over pad for added comfort. My dogs LOVE this bag. I use it in the bike basket, on my back, on the bus, in grocery stores. You name it. VERY VERY highly recommended

  • Wonderful for dogs less than 10 pounds

    By on

My shih tzu weighs 12.5 Lb and this Backpack is good (in my opinion) for dogs less than 10 pounds. My dog seemed to be uncomfortable. The support on the bottom could be sturdier. It's a really nice looking bag so I'm giving it to my sister to use for her smaller dog.

  • Needs support for bottom otherwise awesome!

    By on

There is no support so it's like putting my dog in a sack. The bottom drops even with the little pillow. My Pebbles is about 9.5 lbs, same for my poodle. I am going to put a small board on the bottom to support it. With the board added, it goes up to a 4.5 star rating. Perfect for sneaking my 3rd dog in and out of my building! My dog LOVES it. She no longer wants to walk. For $20 it's a steal! P.s. Support for me! There is a belt across my waist & strap for safety.

  • Well made and comfortable

    By on

This is exactly what I wanted. My dog weighs15 pounds. This backpack works for her. "Up to 20 pounds" seems accurate for the size of dog this will work for. The three additional zippered pockets have lots of organization built in. There is a chest strap and waist strap that work well at balancing the weight to keep me and my dog comfortable. I was able to wear this, with my dog in it, in the front; but I prefer wearing it in the back.

  • Good pooch pouch

    By on

My dog might be a bit big for it, I don't know, but when I used it as a back pack she freaked and jumped out (mini cairn terrier- 14 lbs) So, I turned it around and made into a front pouch and it works great! Comfortable and adjusts all over for across shoulder and lower back support. I didn't want to box her in with a zip up top, but I would say on the back, you might have to.
