I have an 8 lb poodle mix and this backpack works pretty well for him. He can snuggle up and look out through the mesh and still has room to readjust if he starts to get uncomfortable. Because of the way the bag hangs when wearing it, he was kind of getting wedged in the bottom, so I just placed a small blanket inside and now he can sit or lay down in the bag just fine. In my opinion, this wouldn’t be a good size bag for a dog over 10-12 lbs. I love the 3 spacious pockets so I can fit all of his gear on camping trips and hikes. I’m able to fit a ziplock bag of dog food, some treats, water bottle, sweater, raincoat, retractible leash, soft harness, and tie-out between the three pockets. I like that the top both zips and can be rolled up if needed. The one I got is solid grey rather than grey and black like the picture. I don’t mind the color difference, but Chewy should really consider adding accurate and more detailed pics of the bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Leah Wonderful for dogs less than 10 pounds
My shih tzu weighs 12.5 Lb and this Backpack is good (in my opinion) for dogs less than 10 pounds. My dog seemed to be uncomfortable. The support on the bottom could be sturdier. It's a really nice looking bag so I'm giving it to my sister to use for her smaller dog.

First of all this is about $55 on the Outward hound website so this is quite the deal here at Chewy. I have been using this backpack daily for 3 yrs. not one tear or frey. Very sturdy and comfortable. Fits up to 7lbs comfortably, 10 will be a bit squished but doable. People complain about the bottom not being stable. Just cut out two layers of very thick cardboard in the shape of the pad and put it under the pad. Put hand towel over pad for added comfort. My dogs LOVE this bag. I use it in the bike basket, on my back, on the bus, in grocery stores. You name it. VERY VERY highly recommended

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nycfitness Needs support for bottom otherwise awesome!
There is no support so it's like putting my dog in a sack. The bottom drops even with the little pillow. My Pebbles is about 9.5 lbs, same for my poodle.
I am going to put a small board on the bottom to support it. With the board added, it goes up to a 4.5 star rating.
Perfect for sneaking my 3rd dog in and out of my building!
My dog LOVES it. She no longer wants to walk. For $20 it's a steal!
P.s. Support for me! There is a belt across my waist & strap for safety.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Horseangel Nice backpack.
Worked great on our 12mile ride on horseback. Was just alittle small for my 10lb wiener dog. Fit nice on me has nice straps & buckles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by dthomas Good pooch pouch
My dog might be a bit big for it, I don't know, but when I used it as a back pack she freaked and jumped out (mini cairn terrier- 14 lbs)
So, I turned it around and made into a front pouch and it works great! Comfortable and adjusts all over for across shoulder and lower back support.
I didn't want to box her in with a zip up top, but I would say on the back, you might have to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jeanine Well made and comfortable
This is exactly what I wanted. My dog weighs15 pounds. This backpack works for her. "Up to 20 pounds" seems accurate for the size of dog this will work for. The three additional zippered pockets have lots of organization built in. There is a chest strap and waist strap that work well at balancing the weight to keep me and my dog comfortable. I was able to wear this, with my dog in it, in the front; but I prefer wearing it in the back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by YodasMom This pack works well for our elderly Shiz Tsu.
Like the backpack, easy on the shoulders and well balanced. Would like for her to be able to lay down, but when we are out walking she probably wouldn't anyway. She so enjoys looking around and now we can take her hiking.
