Feeding Instructions

How much food your cat eats each day is dependent upon size, level of activity, stage or reproduction, and environment. When feeding in measured amounts, feed according to the weight of your cat. When feeding with out 96% meat cans, reduce dry amount fed by 1/4 cup for every 3 oz of wet food. Add 1/4 cup of dry cat food for each additional 2 lbs. Adjust feeding level to your cat's individual needs. Kittens and nursing females may consume two or three times the recommended amount per day. Keep fresh water available at all times. Store in a cool dry place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by All 7 Love This Food Wanted to try something different that was relatively affordable with great ingredients. This dry food has it all and all 7 - ages 1 1/2 to 10 - really really like this food. December 19, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cats like it My cats enjoy the food and it comes in smaller pieces which since I have a gulper I appreciate. I only have one thing against it and that is the color. It is a dark brown - obviously with added color. Wish they hadn't it's one more thing to clean up when they throw up! A lighter color would be much easier to get out December 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by They love it! I have 5 cats and they all love this food! After trying several different brands, this was hands down their favorite. They eat so much that I cannot keep their bowl filled. I will definitely be purchasing this again. November 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more daily vomiting of food We had used another brand of dry food for several years with no problems. Then both cats began to have digestive issues. We began to try different brands, including grain-free varieties, but both kitties still were vomiting food almost daily. We then tried the Merrick Before Grain Chicken Formula, based on online reviews. After just a few days, they both were much better and they love the Merrick food! We highly recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 by Cats love Merrick Before Grain I was looking for a high quality, grain free dry cat food for my two ~1 year old cats. I was interested in something that was inexpensive and after looking long and hard I kept coming back to Merrick Before Grain. Prior to trying this, I had been feeding my cats Blue Buffalo Wilderness, which is also fantastic, but slightly more expensive. Also, I wanted to see if there was another acceptable food that might help with their stool odor. Anyway, decided to give this a try. When I first gave it to my cats, I had various mixture ratios of Merrick to Blue, and eventually they were eating 100% Merrick. They LOVE it. I've got them eating wet food as well, but they really look forward to the dry. It's got great ingredients, and is grain free - just what I wanted! Unfortunately, and reason for 4 stars, is that their stools actually got worse smelling.. so I'll more than likely be going back to Blue.. but other than that I highly recommend it. It's definitely up there with Blue and Wellness in terms of quality of ingredients, but more accommodating if you're on a budget :) March 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product! This formula has an excellent content of protein and fat and quality ingredients. Our cats love it. We feed it as part of a high end mix of dry food formulas we access through Chewy September 12, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The 'girls' give it 2 paws up Highly & confidently recommend this product! The girls come running when their dishes are filled with Merrick. Grain free feeding was one of the best decisions I made for my 2 cats. Here's why: 1- They eat less because they're more satisfied 2- They eliminate less often and their waste is less foul smelling and 0 cat flatulence issues 3- Bright eyes, silky coats reflect the nutrient rich formulas offered by Merrick. My 'girls' give it 2 paws up! There is one con for me though, this is a strong smelling food, not nauseating or anything like that, just strong. I keep mine in an airtight container and whenever I open to feed I hold my breath for a couple seconds (I am very sensitive to smells) so just a heads up there for those of you who are scent sensitive. I've tried both the tuna and chicken formulas with the girls and they love them both. December 2, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by My cats got tired of it. I have four cats, and only feed them grain free foods. I picked up this product when my cats seemed unhappy with their previous food. The first one I tried was the chicken. They liked it for about 2 weeks, then started leaving food in the bowls. I decided to try the salmon one, and that went over a little better, but after a couple months, they didn't seem interested in that one either, and I was having to add more wet food than normal just to get them to eat it. I don't think there's anything wrong with this product as far as ingredients go. However, I don't like the size of the kibble. It's very small, like mini pea-sized. I want my dry food to help keep my cats' teeth clean, and that's not going to happen with something they can just swallow whole. If your cats like it, then that's great. Mine just don't.
