I have fed my cats NB ultra and reduced as well for about 4 years. In the past year, the pate has become a can of wet mush. There is no texture and the product does not smell right. NB changed owners over the past 4 years and the brand has gone into large chain stores. I think, as with many good products, when they go into the mass market, the quality fades. Iams use to be a niche pet food for people that spent more on their pets. That was years ago and that brand is in super markets.
NB is does not make all their products in the US, some are out sourced. Also, the limited formulas are made by another company. The cans are even a different material. Bottom line, this was a good food for years, now its hit or miss. The great reviews where true at onetime. However, NB makes many formulas. They are mass marketing and the product shows. The quality is no longer there. My cats now walk away from it. Three cats stopped eating the food they grew up on. That has to tell you something.

If you have a fussy cat who prefers pate, then this might be the perfect meal for your kitty. Our tabby loves it. I just add minimal warm water to it and it's the smoothest wet cat food.

After reading the reviews, I thought I'd try this for my 2 cats. They devour it! They kind of picked at the Iams canned food I was buying previously and would eventually finish it, but they gobble this stuff down in one sitting and meow for more. They can hardly wait for mealtime!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beth Winner of my cats' taste test
When my male cat became a dry food junkie I decided to switch to a wet food that was nutritionally similar to what they'd catch outside (rabbits, birds, moles, etc.). They're indoor cats.
I (well, my cats) tried several wet food brands and flavors before settling on this one. Both cats like the taste and the pate consistency. I originally thought they preferred the Indoor formula but after a week they stopped wanting it. I'm on week 3 with this food and so far so good.
The ingredient list is simple with real meat, cranberries (urinary tract health), and taurine (eye health). It's high protein, medium fat, low carb. The price is a little lower than other premium brands.
Both cats have softer, fluffier, and silkier fur. They drink a lot less water than with dry food. Hairballs are no longer a problem. They're also not hungry all of the time - no more dry food junkie.

ok - this is the cat & dog mom - not letting the dogs type this review.
Smoki-Joe is a 13 or 14 year old cat. He likes dry food. But, he needs to eat wet food . For the most part, he will take a couple of bites of canned cat food & let the rest go bad. He won't eat it after it's been refrigerated, either.
So I tried this one, recommended by some pet food expert website.
Smoki will eat this brand. I buy the small cans. When I bought from a different website, it was not this fresh. Smoki would get through 1/4 to 1/2 a can, before he snubbed it.
The cans bought through chewy.com are MUCH fresher. I had no idea we were buying old dried up cat food, until I popped open one of these. Smoki-Joe can almost make it through the whole can of food.
We hope this will keep him healthy for a few year to come.
thank you chewy.com!

This food passes the important kitty test with flying colors. It also (according to the label) is healthy and is appropriate for his diet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CatLady Good but only pate'-loving cats will enjoy it
I have 3 cats: 2 in their twenties [ages 21.5 and 20] and one who is 14. The two ancient cats love this food. They are pate' cats and this one is a very creamy and soft blend, easy on their ancient teeth. They also seem to like the mix of different flavors. The 14 year old senior still wants to chew and she cannot stand this food. No chunks - not even a little minced piece. Also, she tends to favor food that is not a mixture of fish and non-fish. Fussy princess but I still spoil her. So depending on your cat, you could see either a love or hate relationship with this food. If they like soft pates and blends, they will likely love this one. If not, do not even try - a dirty look and grumble will come your way.
