Feeding Instructions

The amount of food your cat requires will depend on activity level, age, and environment. Feed at room temperature and refrigerate unused portion. Always provide access to clean, fresh water.

For adult cats, feed about 2 cans per 7 lb of body weight.

Transition Instructions

It is always a good idea to start out slowly on a new diet with any pet. Slowly increase the amount of new food being added to the present diet over a period of 5 - 7 days. If any digestive upset or loose stool occurs, make the transition more gradual. It is a good idea to allow your pet's digestive system to calm down and return to normal before proceeding. There is no need to rush this transition. Once your pet is accustomed to NatureS Variety foods, you can rotate freely between forms and flavors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your products made?

All NatureS Variety foods and treats are manufactured in the United States.

Where do your meat and poultry come from?

NatureS Variety is committed to using high quality, safe ingredients from government-inspected facilities. Our natural ingredients are continuously inspected for quality and tested for analytical compliance before being accepted at our facilities.

Why do I occasionally notice a slight change in the color of your diets?

NatureS Variety does not include any artificial colors or dyes in our wholesome foods. As a result, the color of our food is totally dependent upon the color of our healthy ingredients, and may vary from time to time. Absolutely consistent and uniform color does not come from nature.

Why do I occasionally notice a difference in the moisture content of your Instinct cans?

Our Instinct canned diets are predominantly meat and are all natural (with added vitamins and minerals). As a result, our canned diets will directly reflect the amount of natural moisture that is in a variety of meat or poultry. For example, lamb is a drier meat - so our lamb formulas often have less noticeable moisture than our rabbit formulas (as rabbit meat has higher levels of natural moisture). Please be assured that the natural moisture present in our canned diets will never exceed the percentage that is guaranteed on the label.

What is the shelf life for your products?

Instinct, Prairie, and Homestyle cans - 2 years (unopened).

How are your foods preserved?

NatureS Variety uses only natural preservatives for our wholesome foods. For our canned diets, the manufacturing (or retort) process sterilizes the food and removes all air, thus there is no need for additional preservatives.

How do I store your kibble and canned diets?

We recommend storing our canned foods in a cool place, protected from extreme heat or cold. Once a can has been opened, refrigerate the unused portion until it can be fed (up to a day or so).

  • Cat refused to eat it.

    By on

The ingredients to this looked good, but my cat absolutely refused to eat it. She walked away from it and left the whole can in her bowl untouched. I tried it again on another day, and she again sniffed it and just walked away from it. I threw it out and opened a can of another food and she ate that. So, I guess I'll just donate this to the shelter. Maybe their cats are not as picky.

  • Leo's favorite wet cat food along with Rockstar Rabbit.

    By on

Have used dry cat food for all of my Siamese(4). Four have passed(not due to dry food). Leo is my 5th Siamese. He is a red point rescue about 1 year old. I have switched to wet cat food. Wanted grain, soy, free with no artificial flavors , meal, gluten and preservatives. Instinct Daredevil's Duck is one of his favorite. He loves the flavor and texture and it has all the healthy ingredients along with the proper analysis of ingredients for a healthy cat.

  • Appears to be a quality product, but my cats lost interest after the 1st can.

    By on

It's difficult to find products that are not pates, have no chicken or beef and no guar gum, etc... I have one cat with food allergies and neither will touch a pate. I had high hopes for this one. My cats seemed to like it, then wouldn't touch it again after their initial curiosity was satiated. I'm trying to coax them with bonito flakes over the food; it's hit and miss. I don't know if it's just that my cats are picky... perhaps others would go for it?

  • Renewed their interest in duck

All of my cats used to love duck, but one day just stopped eating it. This was a new variety of duck in a brand I trust so I tried it. They all ate it!

  • The cat loves it!

I bought a case for my older female cat, who needs to eat "novel proteins." She loves it, and my other cat loves it--so I'm ordering more cases!

  • cat likes it, but doesn't LOVE it

    By on Top 10 Contributor

this is my cat's preferred style of food... chunks with gravy (though not as clearly chunky and saucy as the Rockstar Rabbit) and he will eat it - but he doesn't seem to like it quite as much as the Rabbit (I purchased this, the Rockstar Rabbit, and Lucky Lamb at the same time), definitely likes it more than the Lamb. This is a pretty good quality company (there are better... there are much, much worse) But they have what I always look for in the Pride line: novelty proteins, grain free, and no Carrageenan
